EN→DEThe Dell 14 Plus is part of the new branding from Dell, and this design is really sharp for a budget laptop. The build quality is also pretty solid, with everything feeling tight and well built. The performance of both the AMD and Intel Core Ultra CPUs was fantastic and on par with what I’ve been seeing from both all year round. The camera and speakers are decent, not mind-blowing, but decent enough. The battery life is fantastic on both the AMD and Intel, though I felt the Intel held out slightly longer. The price points are what really make this worth buying. The 2-in-1 does cost a bit more, but if you don’t need that, you can just get the Dell 14 Plus laptop. The display does need more brightness. It works fine indoors and in areas without bright sunlight or bright direct light.

EN→DEThe Dell 16 Plus (DB16250) is a masterclass in industrial design, a laptop that feels and looks far more premium than its “Plus” designation might suggest. It presents a beautiful, elegant, and highly professional package that prioritizes a stunning visual experience and a refined user interface. However, beneath this gorgeous aluminium shell lie some critical compromises that prospective buyers must be aware of. This is a machine for the user who values aesthetic excellence and a top-tier display for daily productivity, but it comes with significant limitations in terms of future-proofing and eye comfort.

EN→DEDell’s 14 Plus excels as a dependable everyday laptop, blending a premium design with modern features, including Copilot+ capabilities and extended battery life from its Lunar Lake processor. Though slightly heavier than some competitors, this doesn’t hinder functionality, and while its display isn’t the brightest, it remains sharp and highly usable. Home users and students will find it a compelling alternative to the Editors' Choice-award-holding Apple MacBook Air 13-Inch and the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED Touch (UM3406), especially if Dell’s steeply discounted price is in effect when you happen to be in the market.

EN→DEAnd that’s the tale of the tape. It won’t win any design awards — or any awards, really — but it’ll meet your deadlines without drama. After my time using it as my daily driver, I have no overtly deal-breaking complaints! It’s a strong performer, has the longevity to keep up with my workload on-the-go, and the ergonomics for an enjoyably tactile typing and clicking experience. Don’t let it being the aesthetic equivalent of plain toast deter you — especially given that warranty coverage that comes with it.

EN→DEI can’t shake the feeling that the Dell 14 Plus is less than the sum of its parts. On paper, a laptop costing £1,049 with a 1TB SSD, 32GB of RAM, a 2.5K display and a full raft of biometrics should be an easy four-star bit of kit. But the bouncy keyboard, unimpressive battery life and drab screen knock some of the shine off. If I were in the market for a good compact laptop I would take a long hard look at the Dell 14 Plus, carefully note that I was getting 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD for the same price as some other machines only give you 16GB and 512GB and then I’d buy a Asus Zenbook or a MacBook Air.

EN→DEPrices for the Dell 14 Plus start at $1,099. My review unit's configuration is slightly more expensive at $1,180. The most powerful option comes with an Intel Core Ultra 9 288V chipset and 32GB of RAM. It is currently on sale at a discounted $1,280. All three come with a 1 TB SSD. Dell's latest machine stands tall as a great affordable option that performs very well amongst a sea of expensive computers. It was such a good experience that I am overlooking the few issues I had with it. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a next-gen laptop that won't make your wallet cringe at the price tag. For me, it is definitely a highlight of 2025. That said, if you are looking for something else, I recommend the Lenovo Yoga 9i Aura Edition. It has a significantly better display and robust AI features, although it is more expensive.

EN→DEThe laptop version of the Dell 14 Plus is a good buy, especially when you can pick it up for its sale price of $750. Getting a sharp, 2.5K display inside a sturdy, all-metal design with a modern AI processor for that price is a great value. If you want to spend even less, check out the Acer Aspire 14 AI, and if your budget extends past $1,000, then the Asus Zenbook A14 and Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 are two of my favorite Windows laptops. For the two-in-one shoppers reading this and being disappointed in that half of the Dell 14 Plus equation, I've also got recommendations. The Lenovo Yoga 7 14 Gen 9 is my favorite two-in-one overall, and I also like the HP Spectre x360 14, if you have more to spend and want a premium model with an OLED display.

EN→DEFor everything this laptop offers at just $949.99 full price (and often even less if you catch it on sale), the Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 is absolutely worth it for those looking to get the best bang for their buck. Sure, it has a lousy webcam, middling speakers, and a trackpad that gives me the ick. But it’s powered by an AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 processor that provides impressive performance and assists in delivering jaw-dropping battery life — and those two features alone are objectively more important than a good webcam, set of speakers, or trackpad.Stellar performance and efficiency aren’t the only two things the 14 Plus 2-in-1 has going for it, either. During testing, I enjoyed typing at my normal lightning-fast pace on its keyboard, found its plentiful ports to my liking (though I wished one of the left-side USB-C ports would scooch over to the right side), and loved how sturdy the hinges felt, even after multiple mode switches.

EN→DEThe Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 feels like a midrange laptop built with all the right intentions but held back by a few key compromises. You get a sturdy, travel-ready design and a surprisingly pleasant typing experience, wrapped up in a slick aluminum chassis that looks and feels more premium than the price suggests. The AMD chip's performance profile is fine for office work and light creative tasks, but it’s outclassed at times by competitors in the same price bracket, especially in graphical workloads. At least this laptop has decently long battery life going for it. While it didn't receive an Editors' Choice award, the Framework Laptop 12 could be a better alternative for its upgradable, modular design for a similar price, if you can abide its much smaller screen.

EN→DEThe Dell 14 Plus (available at Best Buy) , in general, is a workhorse laptop at a great price. You don't get fancy features like Dell's best trackpad or a build that's quite as light as some other options, but the laptop is reliable and gets the basics right. That said, if you're not tied to a single operating system, the M4 MacBook Air is still our top pick for the best laptop in this price range. It performs better, has a better screen, a thinner build, and a longer battery life. For some, those things aren't enough to switch to macOS, and if that's the case for you, then the Dell 14 Plus is worth considering, whether you go for the laptop or the 2-in-1.

EN→DEThe Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 is the latest hybrid laptop from the venerable Windows laptop maker, marking its first 2-in-1 since the company's major rebranding earlier this year, which replaced the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus 2-in-1. Fortunately, as with the clamshell Dell 14 Plus, Dell's latest 2-in-1 offers very solid performance at a fantastic price. But given that this is a 2-in-1, typically a form factor where the display takes center stage, the dim, lackluster panel makes this a less attractive option as a 2-in-1 than its clamshell sibling. Starting at $649.99 / £849 / AU$1,498.20, the Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 does earn its place among the best 2-in-1 laptops this year thanks to its affordable starting price, especially in the US and Australia where the AMD Ryzen AI 300 configurations are available. When these configurations make it to the UK, the prices there ought to be much cheaper to start as well.

EN→DEIf you’re looking for a convertible laptop that is the whole package, the Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 is not that laptop. If you’ve got the budget to spare, we’d recommend the Asus Vivobook 16 Flip or Lenovo Yoga 9i 2-in-1 Aura Edition instead. The Vivobook is just a bit pricier than the Dell 14 Plus and offers the more powerful Intel Core Ultra 7 258V chipset and a 16-inch OLED display. The Yoga 9i is far pricier but has a gorgeous OLED display that makes it fantastic for your next Netflix binge. However, if you need to stick to a tight budget, the Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 is affordable and gives you great battery life and solid general performance. The Dell’s affordability does come at the expense of a vibrant display and quality audio, but if you want a 2-in-1 more for web surfing flexibility in tablet mode rather than for content streaming, it’s a decent choice. It’s just hard to recommend a convertible laptop that suffers from a poor display and poor audio.

EN→DEThe Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 is closer to half of one and half of the other, than the convertible experience it promises. The exterior is stylish and seems hard wearing, but then you open it up and the interior surfaces are plastic. That's likely to cause issues with longevity when folded back into notetaking or presentation modes, which is a shame because the laptop excels in non-standard configurations. Dell has clearly positioned this to undercut the Lenovo Yoga range, which is still where I'd aim my sights on if I wanted a convertible laptop at a reasonable price. But when you can get gems like the Asus Zenbook for less than the starting MSRP of the Dell, you have to ask if the stylus and plastic interior are worth it.

It offers versatile design, a nice keyboard, and well-rounded specifications while avoiding a major issue or downside that would take it out of contention. The Plus 14 2-in-1 is a particularly alluring when on sale for $599.99 at Best Buy, which is less than many comparable Windows 2-in-1s and laptops. EN→DEThe Dell 14 Premium, especially as configured for our review, is difficult to fit into a particular niche. At its core, it’s a general-use ultraportable, and it delivers there with a slick design, luxe feel, and the essential features you’d want from a more premium option. However, the cost of our model, ballooned by its premium OLED screen and extra storage, puts it into a price tier where much more powerful laptops live. The feature set has its welcome bonuses, but when looking at laptops approaching $2,000 and beyond, that money, in many cases, can get you a discrete GPU or a more powerful processor. Even Dell's less expensive base model is a little underwhelming for the price in terms of performance, and you’re paying primarily for the build.

EN→DEThe Dell 14 Premium (DA14250) laptop is a great buy for a specific clientele. Professionals who want a 3.2K OLED display, an outstanding CPU, and excellent battery life will love this laptop. However, the Arrow Lake IGP isn't fantastic. If it were me, I'd upgrade to the NVIDIA GPU. Its other faults include a disappointing speaker system, odd design choices, and an uncomfortable build. If you can overlook those things, this laptop is still a solid choice. If you can't, I'd go with a competitor and peruse our best laptops lineup.

EN→DEWhile it's not a terrible laptop, the Dell 14 Premium is a hard machine to recommend. It's a strange assemblage of components that don't pair particularly well with some innovative design innovations that are hindrances as much as boons. Its premium pricing doesn't do it any favors given its mediocre performance, either. Though as of this writing it's on sale for $2,099, which makes it slightly more palatable, at its full $2,449 MSRP, it falls short of competing laptops at lower prices. Again, the other configurations which omit the OLED are certainly cheaper, though are still priced quite highly (especially at MSRP), and don't compare favorably to less expensive, non-OLED alternatives for more productivity-focused users.

EN→DEAt $1,700 — the cheapest price you can get the Dell 14 Premium with an OLED display — this laptop costs slightly more than it should. That price is $101 more than Apple’s 14-inch MacBook Pro M4, and both laptops pack 16GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD and a great screen. The MacBook Pro, however, boasts better battery life and a much better design with regular function row keys and a traditional touchpad. The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x also packs a high-res OLED screen, and the same amount of memory and storage, and it’s $400 less (you can currently get one for $1,300 at Best Buy.) That laptop does carry the quirks of an Arm-based processor, which include lackluster support for legacy devices, as well as only running beta versions of some Adobe applications. It’s the best Windows laptop, but it’s still not without caveats.

EN→DEThe Dell 14 Premium is finally here, and it successfully carries on the Dell XPS heritage it inherits, for better and worse. Performance-wise, it beats out the MacBook Pro 14-inch overall, though video and photography professionals likely won't be impressed enough to make the switch. It's decently priced for a premium laptop, but as its name suggests, it might be too rich for some people who just need a more basic Windows laptop.

EN→DEThe transition from the XPS 14 to the Dell 14 Premium is largely about branding: there are very few changes from the older model, so the XPS 14 might be a better choice if you can find a refurbished model on sale. However, the Dell 14 Premium is a worthy successor to the XPS, retaining all the things we loved about it. It strikes an excellent balance of power, portability, and general computing perfection.

EN→DEEven with a new and rather uninspired name, it probably shouldn't come as a surprise that the Dell 14 Premium remains one of the best Windows laptops on the market. It has the same sleek design from back when it was still called the XPS 14 but with some refreshed specs and components for 2025. Its chassis strikes a brilliant balance between modern minimalism and usability, while upgrades like its OLED display and discrete graphics give you the ability to build out a versatile but still very portable device. Now I admit that our fully loaded review unit is a bit pricey with a retail price of $2,450, though I'd be remiss to mention that Dell is currently running a sale that knocks $200 off that cost.

EN→DEThe Dell 14 Premium is an excellent laptop. It's expensive, but for the $1,500 price range, it has a lot to offer — especially if you're only interested in a Windows machine. Beyond performance, the laptop has a nice-feeling keyboard, a sleek-and-stylish design, and the potential for solid GPU performance and a stunning OLED display, if you're willing to pay a little more.

EN→DEWhat we have here are aesthetics-focused notebooks with reasonable performance but limited upgradeability, which is common for laptops in this weight class. The user experience with both machines is promising, thanks to gorgeous displays, great sound systems, stylish designs, and Intel's Arrow Lake CPU platform. It's only once you start to dig in with these machines that you may start to encounter some frustrations. First and foremost on our list are the capacitive function buttons, which are a divisive design choice. If a user is accustomed to standard markings and tactility for the trackpad area, they might find Dell's invisible trackpad frustrating, too. Neither of these issues ruin the value proposition of these laptops, but they may be frustrating for some.

EN→DEThe Dell 14 Premium lives up to its name as an aesthetic laptop that's committed to its future-forward design. This isn't a laptop that's made for everyone, and that's fine. Dell has successfully improved on elements of its design that don't compromise its vision with the expanded port selection and balance of hardware and cost. As the highest-performing laptop in Dell's base tier of laptops, it's a premium, but accessible, machine that's well-suited toward professionals who need a balanced approach to performance. The luxe physical design makes a statement and is a joy to use, but users will need to be mindful of the hardware's power demands and heat generation.

EN→DEThe new Dell 16 Premium and Dell 14 Premium have a couple of key differences from last year. The most obvious and main difference is that they are no longer called XPS. The other differences come with configuration and performance. These new machines are now running Intel’s latest Arrow Lake processors and NVIDIA’s latest dedicated GPUs. Arrow and Lunar Lake processors have proven to be much better on battery life with the new CPU/GPU/NPU integration, and that continues to be the case here. Normally, I might advise folks to save some money and purchase last year’s models discounted. But with the new performance boosts, you can’t go wrong with buying the Dell 16 Premium or the 14 now. Dell is already running specials to get the ball rolling on these new devices. Yes, you might miss the XPS name, but you’re essentially getting everything but the name here.

EN→DE Archive.org versionThe Dell 14 Premium isn’t a large laptop, but its focus is less on portability than on a premium look and feel and strong performance. That comes at the cost of increased weight and disappointing battery life. If you’re looking for a grab-and-go laptop for daily meetings around town or cross-country flights, though, this isn’t the laptop for you. But shoppers who want a 14-inch Windows laptop that can handle many tasks well, with fast connectivity and a great OLED display, will like the 14 Premium.

EN→DEThe 14 Premium is a missed opportunity. This was Dell's chance to redefine the standards for its Premium laptop range. Instead, it's the XPS 14 with the name crossed out and a new CPU. In 2025, that doesn't cut it. Premium rivals such as the MacBook Pro 14in M4 deliver a far more convincing vision of the ultimate 14-inch laptop, and dramatically cheaper Windows rivals deliver a similar performance for much less cash and with fewer compromises.

EN→DEDespite its new name, the Dell 14 Premium is, for good or ill, a refreshed XPS laptop from last year. You get the same (contentious) ultraportable design, beautiful OLED panel and strong performance. Sure, the lack of physical function keys is a bummer, and I wish battery life were better, but this laptop’s strengths make up for some of its weaknesses. If you can get past the unusual design and don’t mind paying extra to get an OLED model, the Dell 14 Premium is an overall great Windows laptop for both work and gaming.

EN→DEI absolutely love the Dell 14 Premium. It has a MacBook Pro feel, without trying to be a MacBook clone. It has the battery life, the power, the screen, and the rest. It's a bit heavy, which is also true of the 14-inch MacBook Pro, but it's also not a Copilot+ laptop. Microsoft is going to continue rolling out features for it, and you won't get them. However, this is more of an Intel issue. More powerful laptops use Arrow Lake, and therefore don't have the more powerful NPU that's needed for it. That should change in the next generation though. The Dell 14 Premium is as good as you can get. If you want the best, go for it.

EN→DEWith all that said, the Dell 14 Plus (DB14255) is a boring laptop — but that's largely okay. Plenty of people want a boring laptop, and this PC is bound to attract a whole lot of tasty sales to make it an easier pill to swallow than it is at full price. This is a workhorse, so it drops the frills and extraneous features to deliver good performance, solid battery life, enough ports, and a comfortable keyboard. Sure, the display is dim and washed out, and the speakers are tinny, but that won't prevent you from getting the job done. You can configure your own Dell 14 Plus (DB14255) from $799.99 at Dell.com. This one won't be landing on our list of best Windows laptops any time soon, but the Dell 14 Plus is a decent machine.
