The HP ZBook Firefly G10 is a good, perhaps even great, laptop. It’s attractive, well-built, and enjoyable to use. It has a large, tactile keyboard, a beautiful OLED display, and plenty of connectivity. It’s not even slow; performance isn’t a highlight, to be sure, but the laptop handles basic productivity without issue. But none of this matters for one simple reason: it’s far too expensive. Starting at $1,850, and with some configurations that exceed $5,000, the ZBook Firefly G10 goes head-to-head with the Dell XPS 15 and XPS 17, the Apple MacBook Pro 14 and Pro 16, the Razer Blade 16, and the ThinkPad P1, among other top-tier laptops. The ZBook can’t keep up, even with its strengths. It’s not a bad laptop but—absent a huge sale or other discount—you should skip it.

The HP ZBook Firefly 16 G10 left us with a lot of positive impressions. It also has two major cons – the high price and the low performance. A potent hardware is a must for a notebook that is branded as a workstation. Sure, the CPU can maintain high core clocks in short and medium loads, but in longer processor stress, the power limit is just 17W which leads to unimpressive frequencies and that’s a pity for such a laptop. It looks like HP has tuned this notebook for comfort over performance. In CPU-intensive tasks, the fan is unexpectedly quiet and the keyboard is just warm, but not hot. In daily usage, the single fan is almost dead silent. The battery life with the optional 76Wh battery is very long – 25 hours of Web browsing is a great result! The two SODIMMs can handle up to 64GB of DDR5-5200MHz memory in dual-channel mode which is up to the standards for a workstation. On the flip side, there is just one M.2 slot for Gen 4 SSDs.

A mobile workstation from HP that brings together one of Intel’s latest CPU designs with a pro-grade Nvidia GPU that’s looking a bit out of date, this portable machine could be perfect for a narrow set of creatives, but most will find what they’re looking for elsewhere. It offers exceptional battery life and superb build quality, with a keyboard that’s extremely comfortable to use, yet is likely to be passed over in favour of more up-to-date graphics chips.

The HP ZBook Firefly 16 G11 is a capable business machine that offers good comfort during heavy loads, great input devices, and a modern port selection with two Thunderbolt 4 ports. However, the not-so-high P and E-core frequencies of 1.75 GHz / 1.01 GHz in longer stress don’t correspond to a device in a workstation category where sustained performance is always important. Still, the system responsiveness during normal office tasks seems on point despite the single-channel memory of our notebook. The snappy SSD (WD PC SN810 SDCPNRY-1T00-1006) perhaps also helps in this scenario. The 1200p IPS display (BOE0C31) is suitable for work. The PWM-free unit offers wide viewing angles and 327 nits of max brightness.

HP: 1939 gegründet, ist das US-Unternehmen ein wichtiger Server und Druckerhersteller und eines der führenden IT-Unternehmen weltweit. Bis 2015 hieß das Unternehmen Hewlett-Packard Company. Nach einer Aufspaltung wurde der Computer-Bereich in HP Inc. umbenannt.

2023 hatte HP einen ungefähren Marktanteil von 22% am weltweiten PC-Absatz und war damit die Nummer 2 nach Lenovo.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.

NVIDIA RTX A500 Laptop GPU: Professionelle Mid-Range-Notebook-Grafikkarte und ähnlich zu der Consumer RTX 3050 für Laptops mit 2.048 CUDA Kernen aber nur einem 64-Bit-Speicherbus. Erhältlich in verschiedenen Varianten von 20 - 60 W maximalen Stromverbrauch und unterschiedlicher Leistung.

Intel Raptor Lake-U:

i7-1365U: Auf der Alder-Lake-Architektur basierender High-End-Mobilprozessor. Bietet 2 Performance-Kerne und 8 Effizienzkerne und kann 12 Threads gleichzeitig bearbeiten. Der maximale Turbo-Takt der P-Kerne beträgt 5.2 GHz. Weiters unterstützt der i7-1365U vPro-Enterprise-Management-Features.

Ultra 7 155H: Auf der Meteor-Lake-Architektur basierender High-End Mobilprozessor. Bietet 6 Performance-Kerne mit bis zu 4,8 GHz und 8+2 Effizienzkerne mit bis zu 3,8 GHz und kann 22 Threads gleichzeitig bearbeiten.

16.00: Dieser Bereich für Displayformate war und ist eine Seltenheit. Es ist größer als der allgemeine Standard von 15 Zoll, aber noch nicht im Bereich der großen Workstations. Man hat üblicherweise höhere Bildschirmauflösungen zur Verfügung, darunter leidet aber auch die Portabilität.
