Ich denke, dass sich die bisherige Ausstattung und Leistung sehen lassen kann. 10422 Punkte im 3DMark06 sind wirklich gut. Die 3D Leistung ist wirklich akzeptabel und ausreichend um alle aktuellen Spiele flüssig spielen zu können! Erfreulich finde ich, dass es sich zu seinem Vorgängermodell mit dem T9400 und der GTX 260M leicht absetzen kann.

Nutzer bekommen mit dem ASUS G60J ein leistungsstarkes 16-Zoll Spiele-Notebook. Sowohl der Intel Core i7 720QM Prozessor, als auch die Nvidia GeForce GTX 260M Grafikkarte, sorgen für eine sehr gute Performance. Dazu bietet der Gamer als eines der wenigen 15- und 16-Zoll Spiele-Notebooks satte 1 Terabyte Festplattenspeicher. Eine ordentliche Vorstellung liefert das Notebook im Ergonomieabschnit.

Das Asus G60J präsentierte sich im Test überwiegend von seiner Schokoladenseite. Beginnend mit einem durchwegs gelungenem Gehäuse, das sowohl hinsichtlich Optik aber auch beim Qualitätseindruck punkten kann, über eine vernünftige Anschlussausstattung bis hin zu Eingabegeräten, die auch ein längeres Arbeiten am Gerät erträglich werden lassen. Prolbematisch allerdings: Die Positionierung der Ports. Erste Schwachstellen werden dann allerdings beim Display auffällig. So wird die Auflösung von nur 1366x768 Pixel (16-Zoll) für einige User etwas zu wenig sein, insbesondere dann, wenn man bei speziellen Anwendungen auf mehrere Fenster gleichzeitig angewiesen ist.

We’ve already mentioned the basic hardware components in the lead-in, so it’s time to provide a few more details. Intel Core i7-820QM boasts the Hyper-threading technology, which makes the system detect eight instead of four cores, leading to better CPU usage in multithreaded programs. Besides that, the Turbo Boost technology enables the core clock to increase from the default 1,73 GHz to an entire 3,066 GHz, which is especially useful for older applications, the ones not optimised for multi-core CPUs.

Gaming laptops are all about compromise. Manufacturers have to carefully juggle size and weight with price and performance, and inevitably these mobile monsters end up being large, heavy, expensive and - compared to even mid-range desktop rigs – underpowered. To get good gaming performance on a laptop you still need to go for an SLI setup which limits you to Intel’s Core 2, but if you’re after one of the new Core i7 laptops that will at least let you at least play the latest games, the Asus G60J is definitely worth considering.

The ASUS G60J is a powerful laptop PC with an Intel Core i7 Mobile Processor.  The ASUS G60J is not terribly expensive for a powerful gaming notebook. We think it's well-built, and it has almost every feature on our 'want' list save for dual-band wireless networking. We like it not only as a gaming system, but also as a desktop replacement. We don't really see the point of including Express Gate and Power4Gear on such a powerful notebook, but you know ASUS — the more features the better!

Power consumption and heat are two problems that Intel has yet to crack with its current mobile Core 2 Quad line-up, which is why OEMs are only using them for big and beefy laptops like the ASUS G60J. It’s not a laptop for everyone, but the ASUS G60J certainly delivers in spades for its target audience of itinerant gamers. The screen resolution could be higher, but there’s no knocking the rest of its specification.

Asus' 'Republic of Gamers' brand of laptops has been around for a while now, and the company really impressed with the king-size, 18.4-inch W90 earlier this year. The new, 16-inch G60J has more manageable proportions, but Asus hasn't skimped on performance. Inside is a new Intel Core i7 processor that promises to make this £1,700 machine one of the fastest laptops we've ever seen. The Asus G60J may lack a brash design, but it packs more than enough punch to make light work of even the most demanding 3D games, not to mention any other applications. The only weak spot is the comparatively low-resolution screen. That may deter gamers looking for a no-compromise machine.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M: Die GeForce GTX 260M basiert auf den G92b Chip und ist daher mit der 9800M GTX verwandt (und nicht wie der Name vermuten lässt mit der Desktop GTX 260). Im Vergleich zur 9800M GTX wird die GTX 260M in 55nm produziert und höher getaktet.

Vergleichbar mit aktuellen high end Desktop Grafikkarten vom Schlage einer 9800 GT. Die Karten besitzen einen ähnlichen Kern, sind jedoch meist geringer getaktet und mit weniger Shader ausgestattet. Neueste Spiele wie Age of Conan, Race Driver Grid, Call of Duty 4, Mass Effect oder Gothic 3 laufen mit hohen Grafikdetails flüssig spielbar (Das anspruchsvolle Crysis läuft auf mittleren-hohen Details).

720QM: Der Core i7-720QM war zur Zeit der Einführung der langsamste Core i7-9xx Quad Core Prozessor. Er taktet dank Turbo Modus automatisch zwischen 1.6-2.8 GHz. Außerdem unterstützt er Hyperthreading zur gleichzeitigen Abarbeitung von 8 Threads. 84.11%: Diese Bewertung muss man eigentlich als durchschnittlich ansehen, denn es gibt etwa ebenso viele Notebooks mit besseren Beurteilungen wie Schlechteren. Die Verbalbeurteilungen klingen aber oft besser als sie wirklich sind, denn richtig gelästert wird über Notebooks eher selten.
