The Alcatel OneTouch Idol X+ is one of the best dual-SIM phones we've reviewed and a good choice for the price. It has a nice design and good features like a Full HD display and 13 Mp camera but bear in mind that the Moto G 2014 and ZTE Blade S6 are both cheaper and dual-SIM. However, in the wider smartphone market there is tough competition and its lack of a microSD card slot and other hardware such as 4G LTE support mean it's outpaced by the Honor 6.

On the other side of the coin there are smarter options out there with better camera experiences, slicker user interfaces and more current internal hardware. We’d recommend the Idol X+, provided the buyer was after something with its specific strengths and could overlook its weaknesses.

The Alcatel Idol X+ wants to be a premium phone but at a price that everyone can afford. And while some aspects hit the mark - the screen is okay, performance not bad and the battery life acceptable - elsewhere it fails to convince, with cheap-feeling design and software, a sub-par camera and no microSD expansion. While the price is tempting, if you’re after a good-quality budget Android smartphone, we’d advise you save your cash and opt for a Moto G2 instead.

Modell: Das Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ wurde im zweiten Quartal von 2014 herausgegeben. Es läuft unter Android OS, v4.2.1 (Jelly Bean), welches auf das neueste KitKat v4.4.4 aktualisiert werden kann. Das Smartphone wird durch einen 2 GHz Cortex A7 Octa-Core-Prozessor angetrieben und ein Grafikchip ist für die Bildschirmausgabe verantwortlich. Das Phone ist bei Kauf mit 16 oder 32 GB internem Speicher erhältich. Der 5 Zoll große, randlose Bildschirm schafft eine hohe Auflösung (1080p). Das Phone ist mit nur 8,1 mm und 130 g dünn und leicht und eignet sich daher für Verwendung mit nur einer Hand.

Die Metall-Leiste um das Gehäuse verleiht dem Gerät ein luxuriöses Aussehen während die Rückseite aus Polycarbonate ist. Es gibt eine 13,1-MP-Kamera mit Autofokus und LED-Blitz und eine sekundäre 2-MP-Kamera, die mit 1080p bei 30 fps aufzeichnen kann. Das Idol X+ verfügt über ein JBL-Stereo-Headset, welches erweiterte Audio-Qualität namens Hi-Fi verspricht. Das Phone ist in zwei Farben, schwarz und weiß, erhältlich. Der 2500 mAh Lithium-Akku verspricht bis zu 27 Stunden Sprechzeit auf 2G und bis zu 440 Stunden Standby-Zeit auf 2G. Der Nachteil dieses Smartphones ist, dass es weder LTE noch 4G-Netzwerk unterstützt.

3D Spiele sind auf diesen Vertretern nur in Ausnahmen spielbar, grundsätzlich sind die Grafiklösungen hierfür jedoch nicht geeignet. Office Programme und Internet surfen dürfte jedoch ohne Problem möglich sein.
