If you want to enter the realm of gaming laptops, but don’t want to fork out a lot of money for one, then the ASUS Gaming V16 is a great laptop to consider. This specific variant retails for PHP 62,995 only, which is not bad considering what it can do. If that’s a bit too expensive for you, there’s also the more affordable ASUS Gaming X16 with an NVIDIA RTX 3050 for just PHP 49,995, but that uses an older 13th Gen Intel i5 chip. On the flip side, if you want more power, there is a variant of the G16 featuring an NVIDIA RTX 5060 GPU for PHP 74,995.For reference, the laptops come with a free ASUS backpack, 3-Months Xbox Game Pass, ASUS 2-Year International Coverage, and 1-Year Accidental Damage Warranty.Still, it’s far from perfect.

Okay then, should you buy this ASUS V16 laptop? Do I recommend it? I do think it’s a pretty good budget gaming laptop, all things considered. We do have an upgrade path – and I personally advise you to get another stick of 16GB DDR5 RAM the instant you get this laptop – and the performance is actually very good for 1080p gaming. I mean, at the price of RM3,999 only, I think it’s a great deal. Granted, the screen isn’t the best here but we can get a good 24-inch external 1080p monitor these days for a very low price.

The Asus V16 aims at the budget class of all-purpose laptops, a jack of all trades around the 1000 USD/EUR/GBP mark. That means it has to compromise here and there, so you're getting a fair chassis with alright ergonomics, but older generation hardware, a washed out display and lousy audio. The RTX 5050 configuration discussed here is arguably an interesting performer, but still needs to come down in price to be a competitive choice - should happen later in the year.

The ASUS V16 is an interesting gaming laptop. It doesn’t try to outmuscle its flashier ROG siblings, and it certainly doesn’t match the polish of something like Gigabyte’s Aero 16X that I just tested not long ago. Even its compromises are obvious: the screen is underwhelming, the keyboard layout isn’t perfect, and you’ll sometimes need to dial back game settings to keep things smooth. But it also has strengths worth noting. Intel’s Core 7 240H gives it an edge in creator workloads, battery life outpaces what you’d expect from its smaller pack, and the overall design doesn’t scream “gamer” – a plus if you need one laptop that works for both the office and home. The bigger question is whether the extra S$200 for the Aero 16X is worth it.

Unter dem Markennamen Asus fertigt das Unternehmen eine breite Palette von Produkten, darunter Laptops, Desktops, Motherboards, Grafikkarten, Monitore, Smartphones und Netzwerkgeräte, Komplettsysteme und PC-Bauteile für Endkunden.

Unter dem Markennamen ROG (Republic of Gamers) stellt ASUS Gaming-Laptops her, die bei Spielern für ihre leistungsstarken Spezifikationen, dedizierten Grafikkarten, Displays mit hoher Bildwiederholrate und fortschrittlichen Kühlsystemen bekannt sind.

Die Kundenzufriedenheit mit ASUS-Notebooks betrifft Leistung, die Funktionen und das gute Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis der ASUS-Notebooks. Wie bei jeder Marke gibt es jedoch gelegentlich Berichte über Probleme wie Überhitzung, Treiberkompatibilität oder Probleme mit der Verarbeitungsqualität.

Diese Grafikkarten sollten alle modernen Spiele flüssig darstellen können. Anspruchsvolle Spiele müssen jedoch in mittlerer Detailstufe gespielt werden. Ältere und weniger anspruchsvolle Spiele wie die Sims Serie können auch in hohen Detailsstufen flüssig dargestellt werden.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 6GB Laptop GPU: Mobile Gaming-Grafikkarte die wahrscheinlich auf den GA107 Chip basiert. Bietet wie die 3050 Ti 2.560 GPU Kerne und ist in verschiedenen TGP Varianten von 35 - 80 Watt erhältlich. Je nach Variante kann die Leistung deutlich variieren, da auch die Taktraten unterschiedlich ausfallen.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU: Mittelklasse-Notebookgrafikkarte basierend auf die Ada Lovelace Architektur. Bietet 6 GB GDDR6 VRAM  und ca 35-115W TGP (+ Dynamic Boost). Vorstellung sollte im Januar 2023 erfolgen, Verkaufsstart dann im Februar.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop: Einstiegsgrafikkarte der Blackwell-Familie für Latpops mit 2.560 Unified Shaders (CUDA Kerne) und je nach TDP Setting einer Taktung von 1500 - 2662 MHz. Die Leistung ohne DLSS und Frame Generation sollte laut Nvidia vergleichbar mit einer RTX 4060 sein.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop: Mobile Mittelklasse-Grafikkarte der Blackwell Familie basierend auf den GB206 Chip mit 3328 Shadern und 8 GB GDDR7 Grafikspeicher (128 Bit).

Intel Raptor Lake-H:

Core 7 240H: Auf der Alder-Lake-Architektur basierender High-End Mobilprozessor. Bietet 6 Performance-Kerne und 4 Effizienzkerne und kann 16 Threads gleichzeitig bearbeiten. Der maximale Turbo-Takt der P-Kerne beträgt 5.2 GHz. Refresh des Core i7-13620H, jedoch mit höherer Taktfrequenz (vor Allem Boost +300 MHz) und Support für DDR5-5600.

Core 5 210H: Auf der Alder-Lake-Architektur basierender High-End Mobilprozessor. Bietet 4 Performance-Kerne und 4 Effizienzkerne und kann 12 Threads gleichzeitig bearbeiten. Der maximale Turbo-Takt der P-Kerne beträgt 4,8 GHz. Im Vergleich zum älteren i5-13420H, bietet der Core 5 210H einen um 200 MHz höheren Boost-Takt.

16.00: Dieser Bereich für Displayformate war und ist eine Seltenheit. Es ist größer als der allgemeine Standard von 15 Zoll, aber noch nicht im Bereich der großen Workstations. Man hat üblicherweise höhere Bildschirmauflösungen zur Verfügung, darunter leidet aber auch die Portabilität.
