Mit dem Pixel 10a betreibt Google im Jahr 2026 eindeutig Produktpflege. Das ist insofern sinnvoll, als dass es auch dieses Jahr wieder ein Einsteiger-Pixel mit sieben Jahren Update-Gewährleistung gibt. Suchst du also nach einem Mittelklasse-Smartphone ohne Kamerabuckel mit langer Nutzungsdauer, ist das Pixel 10a ein Kauftipp. Nutzt du das Pixel 9a oder das Pixel 9, lohnt sich ein Upgrade nicht. Begrüßenswert ist es dabei, dass Google wichtige technische Eigenschaften in seinem günstigsten Smartphone nicht verwässert. Das SoC ist dasselbe wie in den teureren Modellen, genauso wie die Hauptkamera und die Ultraweitwinkelkamera. Googles Display überzeugt im Alltag ebenfalls, genau wie die solide Akkulaufzeit. Kabelgebunden lädt das Pixel 10a nun schneller auf, leider lässt Google das magnetische Pixelsnap-Laden fallen. Die vergleichsweise dicken Displayränder wirken zudem nicht mehr ganz zeitgemäß und es ist nicht unwahrscheinlich, dass Google seinen Sprachassistenten Gemini noch stärker in seine eigenen Handys integriert. Ob dir das gefällt, musst du natürlich selbst entscheiden!

Wer bereits ein neueres Pixel Phone nutzt, für den ist ein Umstieg nicht unbedingt lohnenswert. Wer jedoch von einem älteren Gerät wechselt, für den ist das Pixel 10a eine sehr gute Wahl.

Es hat auch nicht die hochwertigste Kameraausstattung oder die höchste Ladeleistung. Stattdessen kann man sich beim Pixel 10a sicher sein, dass es für mehrere Jahre ein brauchbares Gerät sein wird. Es ist tatsächlich das ideale Smartphone für all jene, die einfach nur ein gescheites Handy haben wollen und sich nicht allzu sehr um die höchsten Spezifikationen oder anderweitigen Modeerscheinungen kümmern. Wer es etwas günstiger haben möchte, könnte zum Vorjahresgerät greifen.

Denn während die beiden Handys in Sachen Leistung, Display und Kamera nur marginal weit auseinanderliegen (wohl auch aufgrund veränderter Software), fällt der Unterschied bei der Laufzeit enorm aus. Stolze drei Stunden hält das Pixel 10a länger durch als sein Vorgänger, trotz identischer Akkukapazität und gleichem Prozessor als Herzstück.

Im Grunde hat sich technisch im Vergleich zum Vorgänger Pixel 9a nicht viel getan. Insgesamt wirkt das eher wie eine behutsame Modellpflege als wie ein echtes Update. Das macht das Pixel 10a aber nicht zu einem schlechten Smartphone, im Gegenteil. Das Pixel 10a ist ein sehr gutes Smartphone geworden. Es ist aber kein großes Update im Vergleich zum Vorgänger. Für wen ist das Pixel 10a also? Wer gerade von einem zwei oder drei Jahre alten Gerät kommt, wird vom 10a begeistert sein. Gute Kamera, lang durchhaltender Akku, saubere Software, fairer Preis. Wer aber schon ein 9a besitzt und auf den Sprung hofft, der ist hier falsch. Bleibt beim 9a oder greift zum Pixel 10, das momentan zu sehr ähnlichen Preisen zu haben ist und mit dem Tensor G5 und mehr RAM die bessere Langzeitinvestition darstellt.

Für das Speicher-Upgrade auf 265 Gigabyte muss man jedoch mit 649 Euro vergleichsweise tief in die Tasche greifen. Im Ersteindruck präsentiert sich das Pixel 10a als solide ausgestattetes Mittelklasse-Smartphone mit starker Kamera und dem „Größenvorteil“. Wer ein kompaktes Smartphone abseits des Premium-Segments sucht, kommt um das Google-Smartphone nicht herum. Wäre da nicht der Vorgänger: Denn das Pixel 9a ist ein Jahr nach Marktstart aktuell für 369 Euro erhältlich. Ein deutlicher Rabatt für eine nur minimal schlechtere Ausstattung und ein Jahr weniger Software-Updates. Doch dieses „Problem“ dürfte sich in den kommenden Monaten von selbst lösen, wenn das Pixel 10a im Preis fällt.

Das Pixel 10a wird im offiziellen Google Store ebenso erhältlich sein, wie bei den Vertriebspartnern Mediamarkt, A1 und Drei. Wer es etwas günstiger haben möchte, könnte zum Vorjahresgerät greifen. Das Google Pixel 9a ist derzeit um rund 372 Euro zu haben. Das etwas hochwertigere Google Pixel 10 kostet aktuell 599 Euro.

It’s still a good phone, but it’s a tougher sell when there are other better options that are close in price.

If you like gaming, make sure you get the variant with more storage though.
