The P10 Plus is a top-specced contender with a top-specced price. The main rivals in the Android world are all more expensive, and in their own way, flawed too. Samsung's S8 is a strong phone, and boasts the waterproofing and wireless charging missing here, but the placement of its fingerprint sensor right next to the main camera - apparently a last minute design decision because the under-glass fingerprint sensor wasn't sufficiently reliable - is already causing much annoyance. Google's ludicrously priced Google Pixel has a fine camera but a much inferior display and bafflingly, no expandable storage. By comparison the Huawei is a solid design, a Volvo maybe, but at an Audi price.

Das Huawei P10 Plus war einer der Stars bei der MWC. Es ist auch Huaweis bislang bestes Smartphone. Die Linse des Geräts soll die moderne Porträtphotographie neu definieren, daher ist die Kamera der interessanteste Bestandteil. Es ist die gleiche Kamera wie schon in dem Huawei Mate 9: die Leica Dual Camera 2.0 Pro Edition hat zwei SUMMILUX-H Linsen mit einer größeren Blende (f/1.8). Das ermöglicht 4-K-Videoaufnahmen, 20-MP- und 12-MP-Sensoren, Optische Bildstabilisierung und bessere Aufnahmen bei schwachen Lichtverhältnissen. Die Kamera benutzt auch präzise 3-D-Gesichtserkennung, dynamische Beleuchtung, sowie natürliche Portraitverfeinerungen, um eindrucksvoll künstlerische Portaitaufnahmen im Leica-Stil zu produzieren. Die neue Leica-Frontkamera erfasst zweimal mehr Licht und erzeugt unglaubliche Selbstportraits, ob bei Tag oder Nacht. Das Huawei P10 Plus nimmt sogar Groupies wahr und wechselt automatisch in den Weitwinkelmodus, wenn mehrere Personen ins Bild treten. Huawei arbeitet auch an dem grundlegendem Design ihrer Smartphones und verbessert die Formel mit jedem neuem Gerät. Die P-Serie stellt die Perfektion und Promotion von Smartphone-Verarbeitung und anspruchsvoller Eleganz in den Vordergrund. Ein wesentlicher Unterschied zu dem P9 ist die Platzierung des Fingerabdrucksensors, der zuvor auf der Hinterseite knapp unter den Kamersensoren saß. Bei dem P10 Plus wurde er an die Vorderseite versetzt, damit man das Smartphone entsperren kann, wenn es auf dem Tisch liegt. Dieses Modell kann man in 3 verschiedenen Ausführungen erwerben. Es handelt sich nicht nur um die Farbe. Zur Auswahl stehen Ceramic White, Dazzling Blue, Dazzling Gold, Prestige Gold, Graphite Black, Mystic Silver, Rose Gold, und Greenery.

Unter der Haube benutzt das Huawei P10 Plus maschinelles Lernen und den neuen, ultra-schnellen Kirin 960 Prozessor um die Leistung auf Höchstniveau zu halten. Zusammen mit der Huawei Ultra-Memory-Technologie, die den Speicher intelligent zuteilt, wiederverwendet und komprimiert, werden Apps schneller als bei Vorgängergeräten geladen. Dazu kommen noch 6 GB Arbeitsspeicher. Das Smartphone stellt 128 GB internen Speicher zur Verfügung, welcher mit einer microSD-Karte um bis zu 256 GB erweitert werden kann. Der Bildschirm des Huawei P10 Plus hat ein 5,5-Zoll-IPS-NEO-LCD-Panel mit einer Auflösung von 1440 x 2560 Pixel. Die Pixeldichte von 540 ppi übertrifft auf jeden Fall den Full-HD-Bildschirm des P10. Das Gerät lässt sich im Freien gut benutzen, vor allem wenn man bedenkt, dass es sich um ein LCD-Modell handelt. Dies ist die zweite Stärke des IPS-NEO-Panels, gleich nach dem überdurchschnittlichen Kontrast mit relativ tiefem Schwarz. Das Huawei P10 Plus wird von einem verbauten 3.750-mAh-Akku mit Energie versorgt. In der Schachtel befindet sich auch ein massives Ladegerät, das 5V/4.5A, 4.5V/5A, und 5V/2A liefern kann, mit einer maximalen Leistung von 22,5 Watt. Die geringe Spannung verhindert das Erhitzen der Komponenten während des Aufladens. Das Huawei P10 Plus ist ein Dual-SIM-Gerät (GSM und GSM) mit zwei Nano-SIM-Slots. Das P10 Plus ist ein erstaunlich leistungsstarkes und Flagschiff-taugliches Smartphone. Der Preis kommt dem mittleren Preissegment nahe, doch das Gerät bietet Spezifikationen, die man bei so manchen Flagschiffgeräten vorfindet. In gewisser Weise ist das Huawei P10 Plus ein großer Konkurrent des hauseigenen Mate 9 Pro.
