Qualcomm und Microsoft möchten die Vorzüge der effizienten ARM-Architektur endlich ins Windows-Segment bringen. Wie das gehen kann, zeigt das Lenovo ThinkBook 16 Gen 7 QOY: Der Laptop mit seinem großen 16-Zoll-Display kostet weniger als 1.000 Euro und bietet eine Akkulaufzeit von über 24 Stunden.

EN→DEThere are two versions of the ThinkBook 16 Gen 7 (Snapdragon) on sale, identical but for the amount of RAM and storage you get. Lenovo is currently selling both with a 19% discount, which makes the 16GB/512GB model £627.98 inc VAT and the 32GB/1TB version £771.98 inc VAT. Given that the 120Hz 2.5K display only costs an extra £60, you'd be quite mad not to tick that box on your way to the checkout. With or without the improved screen, we'd describe the ThinkBook 16as a genuine bargain and a perfect choice for anyone who wants a full-sized laptop with an excellent keyboard and who anticipates spending long periods away from a mains power supply.

EN→DELenovo pitches the Lenovo ThinkBook 16 Gen 7 as a budget business laptop. Many people will be thrilled to get this kind of machine from their jobs. Yes, it’s not going to be ideal for gaming or CPU-heavy tasks, but as a 16-inch productivity machine that gets very long battery life with snappy desktop application performance, you could do a lot worse. If the applications a business needs all run well on Windows on ARM — and most do now — then it’s a fine machine. Lenovo told us that this laptop sells for $999. I’m not aware of any other 16-inch Snapdragon X-powered laptops except the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge, which is a higher-end machine that starts at a retail price of $1,450. From that perspective, I suppose it’s good value for a 16-inch Snapdragon laptop.

EN→DEAs far as budget-friendly business laptops go, the ThinkBook offers plenty. The laptop’s performance isn’t breaking any benchmark records, but it's more than enough to handle your email, spreadsheets, and video calls. The FHD webcam is rather high-quality for a laptop webcam, making it ideal for the hybrid worker. The keyboard is also rather satisfying despite being more mushy than average. And it’s hard to argue with 21 hours of battery life. That said, the display is a massive disappointment. So if you need to do a lot of graphic design or editing work, we would not recommend the ThinkBook at all. The base configuration is a bit expensive for a budget laptop.

Qualcomm Adreno X1-45 1.7 TFLOPS: Die Qualcomm Snapdragon X Adreno X1-45 ist die schwächste GPU in the Snapdragon X Plus SoCs mit nur 1,7 statt 3,8 TFLOPS an Leistung. Wahrscheinlich wird dies durch weniger Taktraten und / oder weniger Kerne erreicht.
Durch aktuell eingeschränkten Treibersupport und Spieleunterstüztung ist die 3D-Leistung und Kompabilität in Spielen jedoch nicht vergleichbar mit Nvidia und AMD iGPUs.
Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.

SD X Plus X1P-42-100: Der Snapdragon X Plus 8-Kern X1P-42-100 ist der schwächste Einstiegsprozessor der X Serie mit nur 8 Oryon CPU Kernen die mit bis zu 3,4 GHz takten.
