The ThinkPad X1 Carbon series is not for everyone. There are affordable ThinkPad’s in the Lenovo lineup, but the X-series represents the premium segment. The premium can be attributed to the presence of the vPro processor. It offers better security features for instance over a regular Intel Core processor since the vPro processor based devices are used within an enterprise setup.

The QHD display is simply gorgeous. It caught our eye the first time we booted the machine up and never stopped impressing. Add it the rich detailed audio and you have a business machine that excels with media, making the X1 the ideal travel companion for the road warrior who faces the occasional spouts of downtime. The thin 2.6-pound frame feels great and is durable enough to take the wear and tear of the road. Add in the powerful specs and you have the complete package.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon faces some serious competition, even within Lenovo's own overlapping lineup where the ThinkPad X1 Yoga and ThinkPad T460s beckon. The X1 Yoga brings a 360 degree hinge, touchscreen and a Wacom pen for $300 more. The T460s is priced similarly to the Carbon, but it's a wee bit thicker and heavier at 3 lbs. vs. 2.6 pounds.

With its slick and slim design, Lenovo's fourth-gen ThinkPad X1 Carbon ($1,533.60, as tested) is the kind of business laptop you'll gladly show off around the office. It retains the features that we like, including a thin, yet sturdy carbon fiber and magnesium construction, a good selection of I/O ports, and that excellent ThinkPad keyboard. On top of this, it's faster, has a higher-resolution screen, packs a longer-lasting battery, and is a half pound lighter than last year's model£1,133.54 at Amazon. While the latest laptop lacks a touch screen, it does ring up for $300 less.

Modell: Das Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 20FB-005XUS ist ein Ultrabook für Reisende und Business-User. Das Chassis ist aus Magnesium und matter Kohlefaser und sieht nicht nur professionell und fantastisch aus, sondern ist auch druck- und verwindungsfest. Der Laptop wird mit vorinstalliertem Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64-bit ausgeliefert und durch einen 2,4 GHz Intel Core i5-6300U Prozessor mit integrierter Intel HD Graphics 520 angetrieben. Er verfügt über 8 GB RAM und eine 256 GB Samsung SSD als Speicher. Sein entspiegelter 14-Zoll-IPS-Bildschirm löst in Full HD auf und liefert klare, knackige Bilder ohne störenden Spiegelungen.

Die Tastatur mit Hintergrundlicht ist spritzwassergeschützt und das Touchpad verfügt über gute Gleiteigenschaften, Präzision und Feedback. Ein DVD-Laufwerk gibt es nicht, doch die Ausstattung ist mit drei USB-3.0-Ports, einem HDMI-Port, einem DisplayPort, einem MicroSD-Kartenleser und einer 3,5-mm-Audiobuchse dennoch üppig. Für Sicherheit ist der Laptop sowohl mit einem Kensington-Lock-Slot als Schutz vor Diebstahl als auch mit einem Fingerabdruckleser zur Authentifizierung ausgestattet. Die nach vorne gerichtete Webcam verfügt über eine 720p-Auflösung und Fix-Fokus. Der Laptop wiegt nur 1,189 kg und die Akkulaufzeit beträgt beim WLAN-Surfen bis zu 6:51 Stunden.

Intel HD Graphics 520: Integrierte Grafikkarte (GT2), welche in einigen Skylake-CPUs (ULV-Modelle, 15 Watt TDP) verbaut wird.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
