Lenovo's laptop may not have loads of connectivity, but it impresses elsewhere. It's got one of the best screens you'll find on any lightweight laptop – the OLED panel is crisp, bright and dazzling. The Core i7-1280P processor offers ample power for multi-tasking and content creation, and the keyboard is fast and satisfying. The robust Lenovo looks great, too. There are negatives, though. Battery life is fine but could be better, and the processor didn't always reach its full potential. Some people won't like the shallow keyboard. The pricing situation is tricky, too: at the time of writing it costs £1,113 exc VAT, which is a great price, but its normal price of £1,519 exc VAT makes it more expensive than any rival. Still, there's no denying you're getting a high-quality unit if you do shell out for this machine, and it's always going to be worth the cash if you want a good-looking, all-day laptop with an OLED panel.

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 9i has a gorgeous, unique design and pairs it with competitive performance that is suited both for work and for leisure, especially with its powerful speakers and bright, high-quality screen. The sub-standard battery life may be an annoyance to some, as will the lack of physical ports for people who connect multiple devices at once. The touchscreen is also prone to picking up fingerprint marks. Nonetheless, this is overall a great all-round device from Lenovo, and one to consider if you’re looking to make an investment in your next laptop.

Whether you’re a sucker for styling, expect top-tier performance or want a display worthy of a boxset binge, the Yoga Slim 9i delivers on all three fronts. It’s a brilliantly capable work machine with the screen and speakers to entertain once you clock off. The 28W CPU might actually be overkill in a machine this small, though. It also has a knock-on effect on battery life, which is merely OK. The shallow keyboard will take some getting used to as well. It falls just short of brilliance, and the high price will likely be a turn-off, but still succeeds as an all-rounder you’d be proud to pull out of your laptop bag.

The glitzy Lenovo Slim 9i is every inch a premium ultraportable laptop, matching the best in the category ounce for ounce in almost every respect. From the polished metal-and-glass design to the generous port selection and expansive touchpad, it's a laptop that feels well worth the premium price, and it has the performance to match. That said, the battery life, while adequate, falls far short of the 15-plus hours that most laptops in this price range can deliver. It's not enough to erode our four-star recommendation. But if you need the sort of longevity that premium ultraportables routinely offer these days, the Slim 9i's sub-10-hour battery life is a real drawback to an otherwise superb thin-and-light laptop.

The Dell XPS 13 is also another popular comparison. We think the use case is different. The XPS 13 is significantly more compact than the Slim 9i, but that’s because it’s a 13.3” laptop (vs. 14”). The XPS 13 also has less powerful CPU options and does not offer OLED displays. It might be an X1 Carbon Gen10 or X1 Nano competitor instead. We like where Lenovo is going with this product and are generally impressed with the industrial design, build quality, and selected technologies.

If you have $2,000 or so to throw at an ultraportable, the Slim 9i most certainly deserves a spot on your shortlist. It provides everything on a luxury buyer’s list: a beautiful and thin yet rugged design highlighted by a 3D glass lid that protects a high-resolution OLED display that’s powered by the latest Intel silicon and an ample 32GB of RAM. Its average battery life is still long enough to last through even the longest workdays and is offset by additional attractions including a roomy and comfortable keyboard and touchpad, a 1080p webcam, and jarringly robust audio output from the laptop’s four speakers. The Lenovo Slim 9i is one of our favorite ultraportables of 2022 and easily earns an Editors’ Choice award for its luxurious design, gorgeous OLED display, and strong performance.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
