Its outlandish design, which conjures up images of fiery balls of flames striking a bloody canvas, seems fit for those who crave bragging rights for their systems. While the Toshiba Qosmio X305-Q725's fiery design may not appeal to everyone, its quad-core processor and an Nvidia GTX graphics card are parts that extreme gamers yearn for.

In terms of performance, the Qosmio X305-Q725 did what was expected from a notebook with its specifications. In several benchmark tests, the Qosmio X305-Q725 performed as well or better than some desktop systems. While high-end, powerful, desktop replacement gaming notebooks are never cheap, the Toshiba Qosmio X305-Q725’s $2,699.99 price tag is more affordable than many comparable laptops from boutique builders. The components used in this machine compliment each other well and strike a great balance between price and performance.

Its audio punch alone nearly puts this machine in its own class. However, the Alienware M17 provides more graphics oomph for $700 less, even though it lacks quad-core power. Still, the Qosmio X305-Q725 is an excellent multimedia and gaming notebook with plenty of style and substance.

The Toshiba Qosmio X305 gaming notebook proved to be very capable in our testing but its steep price does raise a few eyebrows now that notebooks like the Gateway P-7811 FX are on the market for a fraction of the price. The overall size of the X305 also comes into play when you realize it is almost twice as thick as other gaming notebooks (even thicker than the dual-screen Lenovo ThinkPad W700ds). If you can get past the price and size it does offer the best sound system I have heard on a notebook and dual graphics card support on certain configurations. Build quality could be improved in some areas but it held up well in our testing ... if not for a few plastic squeaks and pops. If you have the backpack or shoulders to carry around this gaming rig then you should check out the Qosmio X305-Q725.

Serie: Die Serien Qosmio X300 (Europa) und Qosmio X305 (USA) sind grundsätzlich baugleich und unterscheiden sich nur bei einzelnen Komponenten (Prozessor, Grafikkarte) je nach Modell. Der Grund für die Namensverschiedenheit liegt in unterschiedlichen Nomenklaturen zweier Vermarktungszonen (eventuell um Preisunterschiede zu verdecken).

NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTX: Basiert wie die 8800M GTX auf den G92 Chip, bietet jedoch mehr Shader-Einheiten und dadurch mehr Leistung (Vergleichbar mit einer Desktop 8800 GT). Die integrierte PureVideo HD Engine unterstützt den Prozessor beim Dekodieren von HD Videos.

High-End Grafikkarten welche auch neueste und anspruchsvolle 3D Spiele in hohen Auflösungen und Detailstufen flüssig wiedergeben können. Durch den hohen Stromverbrauch, werden diese GPUs nur in großen und schweren Notebooks mit geringen Akkulaufzeiten angeboten.

Intel Core 2 Quad: Mobile Version des Desktop Quad Core Prozessors. Bei geringen Taktraten nur für wenige Anwendungen empfehlenswert.

Q9000: Relativ gering getakteter Quad Core Prozessor (4 Kerne) welcher gerade bei älteren Spielen durch die 2.0 GHz eine schlechte Performance zeigt. 17.0": 17 Zoll Displaygrösse ist ein seit 2006 häufig angebotenes Standardformat für Desktop-Replacements. Die DTR-Laptops sind schwerer zu tragen, brauchen mehr Strom, dafür sind Texte leicht lesbar und hohe Auflösungen kein Problem. DTR sind hauptsächlich für stationären Schreibtischeinsatz vorgesehen, wo Gewicht und Energiehunger egal sind.
