The Aorus X7 Pro is a stellar performer on the benchmark tests, there is no doubt of that. However, quality issues with its ergonomics, audio, and video keep it from a much higher score. Given that you're paying close to $2,600 for this laptop, you expect a great screen, keyboard, and touchpad to go along with the performance, and these are sorely lacking. The fan noise is inexcusable as well, kicking up to uncomfortable levels even in normal use and practically unbearable when gaming.

For the most part, the X7 Pro succeeds but stumbles hard while doing so. Thanks to the Nvidia dual 970M setup, this machine easily outpaces Alienware 18 I reviewed last July, a massive gaming laptop that costs nearly double the amount and is also twice as thick compared to Aorus' thin mobile gaming offering. Even the similarly priced MSI GT72 Dominator falls well short of the X7 Pro even with a Nvidia 980, the best mobile GPU on the market currently.

The Aorus X7 Pro offers top of the line performance in an unbelievably thin form factor. The slim design looks fantastic and moving to the Nvidia GeForce GTX 970M is a huge performance boost. But attempting to have the best of both worlds comes at a cost. The chassis is nowhere near as durable as its thicker counterparts. The thin design is also likely contributing to thermal issues as the constant hum of the fan can be loud enough to disrupt the user and break the feeling of immersion when playing games. The device is often hot enough to the point where it can’t be used as a “laptop.”

The Aorus X7 v3 doesn’t quite live up to the portability it promises when it comes to battery life, but it does still pack a huge amount of performance into a decidedly slim chassis, particularly where 3D graphics are concerned. The screen is an improvement on the first model, too, and there’s a reasonable quantity of super-fast storage. Even the sub-£2,000 price isn’t outrageous, considering the specification. If you’re after a fast, stylish entertainment notebook, the Aorus X7 v3 is an enticing bit of kit.

Modell: Das Aorus X7 Pro ist Gigabytes dünnster Gaming-Laptop . Der 17,3-Zöller mit einer Bauhöhe on 2,29 cm und einem Gewicht von nur 2,99 kg beherbergt eine unglaubliche hochwertige Spezifikation. Er nutzt einen Intel Core i7 Quad-Core-Prozessor mit einem Turbo-Takt von bis zu 3,7 GHz mit 8 GB DDR3L RAM. Für Grafik sind eine Nvidia GTX 970M mit 6 GB GDDR5 VRAM bzw. die integrierte Intel Iris Pro Graphics verantwortlich. Das X7 Pro verfügt über einen matten 17-Zoll-Bildschirm mit einer nativen Auflösung von 1920 x 1080 Pixeln und eine 512 GB SATA SSD, die für die meisten aktuell am Markt verfügbaren Spiele mehr als ausreichen sollte.

Das X7 Pro liefert drei USB-3.0-Ports, zwei USB-2.0-Ports, einen HDMI-Port, einen Mini-Displayport, einen SD-Kartenleser und die üblichen 3,5 mm Buchsen (separat) für Mikrofon und Kopfhörer. Für Verbindungen stehen eine übliche 11ac-WLAN-Karte mit Bluetooth 4.0 zur Verfügung. Schließlich verfügt der Gaming-Laptop noch über eine 1 MP HD-Frontkamera und eine Tastatur mit Nummernblock und einen Hintergrundlicht mit konfigurierbaren Farben. Zudem ist er mit einem 3-Zellen-Akku ausgestattet, der eine ziemlich kurze Akkulaufzeit von bis zu 3 Stunden durchgängiger Nutzung liefert.

DTR sind hauptsächlich für stationären Schreibtischeinsatz vorgesehen, wo Gewicht und Energiehunger egal sind.
