ASUS says that leaving one of the DIMM slots free helps customers save because they can simply buy one more stick of RAM instead of, say, a 2x16GB kit (if they were upgrading from 2x8GB), but it still doesn't seem worth it to me. Furthermore, the performance deficit that comes with single-channel memory is massive, and it doesn't seem right that I'd have to pay more to upgrade the laptop in order to get my money's worth.

Tagtäglich kommt ein weiterer Gaming-Laptop auf den Markt - vielleicht wegen neuer Hardware oder der Konkurrenz oder auch nur, weil der Hersteller etwas Neues ausprobieren wollte. Dann spielt der Preis eine Rolle. Es gibt einen oberen, unteren und natürlich auch mittleren Preisbereich. Das Asus ROG Strix G531GT-BQ012 ist nichts Außergewöhnliches. Es ist nur ein Gaming-Laptop für preisbewusste Leute. Ist es ein schlechter Laptop? Natürlich nicht. Vor allem wenn man bedenkt, dass durch bessere Hardware leistungsfähige Module im Laufe der Zeit billiger werden und damit Hochleistungsgeräte von gestern möglicherweise nicht mit Mittelklasse-Geräten von heute mithalten können. So gesehen würde ich das Asus ROG Strix G531GT-BQ012 zu den leistungsstarken Geräten rechnen, obwohl es als Budget-Gaming-Laptop gilt. Ein Blick auf die Spezifikation zeigt fast ausschließlich neue Technologien: eine GTX 1650-GPU der 9. Generation mit Intel 9750H-CPU, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, WIFI5, HDMI 2.0b, Bluetooth 5.0…In puncto Hardware finde ich also nichts, dass man hart kritisieren könnte. Der Laptop ist gut ausgerichtet und wirkt gut gedacht. Eventuell wäre ein USB-C-Anschluss schön gewesen, doch erinnern Sie sich, daran, dass es sich um einen Budget-Laptop handelt. Warum ist das Asus ROG Strix G531GT-BQ012 ein Budget-Laptop? Zunächst einmal wiegt es rund 2,4 kg. Damit ist es nach modernen Standards nicht besonders portabel. Im Vergleich zu RTX-GPUs sind GTX-GPUs nicht die Zukunft. Hardcore-Gamer könnten daher bessere Details abgehen. Kann Ihnen die GTX 1650 gute Dienste leisten? Es hängt davon ab, welche Spiele Sie spielen. Auch der Bildschirm ist nur 60 Hz. Die neuesten Gaming-Laptops bieten Bildschirme mit 75 Hz bis 200 Hz. Auch 60-Hz-Bildschirme findet man in Gaming-Geräten der Vergangenheit. Ich bin an LEDs auf Laptops gewöhnt, doch das Asus ROG Strix G531GT-BQ012 hebt sich mit LEDs an der Basiseinheit definitiv von der Masse ab. Zwar entspricht dies eindeutig nicht meinem Geschmack, doch offensichtlich mögen manche Leute solch glänzenden Dinge. Speicher ist ein Kritikpunkt. Sind 512 GB SSD für Gamer wirklich genug? Eine 1-TB-Festplatte wäre schön gewesen. Doch damit wäre das Gewicht wahrscheinlich auf 2,7 kg gestiegen. Würde ich diesen Laptop empfehlen? Es hängt davon ab. Wenn Sie kein Hardcore-Gamer sind: definitiv ja, denn es gibt nichts, was das Gerät nicht leisten kann. Sind Sie ein Hardcore-Gamer sind, investieren Sie bitte Ihr Geld nicht in dieses Modell, sondern sparen ein paar Hunderter (oder vielleicht Tausender?) mehr und legen sich etwas Seriöses zu. Wodurch unterscheiden sich Hardcore-Gaming-Laptops von diesem Laptop? Nur durch zwei Dinge: RTX-GPU und 144-Hz-Bildschirm. Aber diese beiden können sehr teuer sein. Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. ist ein großer taiwanesischer Hersteller von Computer-Hardware mit Sitz in Taipeh, gegründet 1989. Unter dem Markennamen Asus fertigt das Unternehmen eine breite Palette von Produkten, darunter Laptops, Desktops, Motherboards, Grafikkarten, Monitore, Smartphones und Netzwerkgeräte, Komplettsysteme und PC-Bauteile für Endkunden.
Unter dem Markennamen ROG (Republic of Gamers) stellt ASUS Gaming-Laptops her, die bei Spielern für ihre leistungsstarken Spezifikationen, dedizierten Grafikkarten, Displays mit hoher Bildwiederholrate und fortschrittlichen Kühlsystemen bekannt sind.
Über das Gaming hinaus werden eine breite Palette von Notebooks für unterschiedliche Anforderungen und Budgets geboten: von ultraschlanken und leichten Ultrabooks bis hin zu vielseitigen 2-in-1-Convertibles und budgetfreundlichen Optionen. 2023 hatte Asus einen Weltmarktanteil von 7% am PC-Markts.
Die Kundenzufriedenheit mit ASUS-Notebooks betrifft Leistung, die Funktionen und das gute Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis der ASUS-Notebooks. Wie bei jeder Marke gibt es jedoch gelegentlich Berichte über Probleme wie Überhitzung, Treiberkompatibilität oder Probleme mit der Verarbeitungsqualität.
Diese Grafikkarten sollten alle modernen Spiele flüssig darstellen können. Anspruchsvolle Spiele müssen jedoch in mittlerer Detailstufe gespielt werden. Ältere und weniger anspruchsvolle Spiele wie die Sims Serie können auch in hohen Detailsstufen flüssig dargestellt werden.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Mobile: High-End Notebook-Grafikkarte basierend auf die Desktop RTX 2070 jedoch bei deutlich reduzierten Taktraten der GPU.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Mobile: Mid-Range Notebook-Grafikkarte basierend auf der Desktop GTX 1650 mit Turing Architektur. Bietet keine Raytracing und Tensor-Kerne im Gegensatz zu den stärkeren RTX 2000 Modellen. Die Leistung soll etwas oberhalb der alten GTX 1050 Ti liegen. Es gibt eine Variante mit 1024 und eine mit 896 Shader.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Mobile: Mid-Range Notebook-Grafikkarte basierend auf der Desktop GTX 1660 Ti mit TU116 jedoch bei 80 Watt TGP (versus 110 Watt der Desktop Karte). Bietet keine Raytracing und Tensor-Kerne im Gegensatz zu den stärkeren RTX 2000 Modellen. Die Leistung soll in etwa auf dem Level einer GTX 1070 für Laptops liegen.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Mobile: Mid-Range Notebook-Grafikkarte mit 6 GDDR6-Grafikspeicher (192 Bit) und nach der offiziellen Vorstellung die drittschnellste mobile Turing-GPU. Verfügt über 1.920 Shadereinheiten und verglichen zu der Desktop-Variante mit verringerten Taktraten.

Intel Coffee Lake:
i9-9880H: Auf der Coffee-Lake-Architektur basierender SoC (System-on-a-Chip) für große Notebooks. Integriert unter anderem acht CPU-Kerne mit 2,3 - 4,8 GHz (4,1 GHz bei 8 Kernen) und HyperThreading sowie eine Grafikeinheit und wird in 14-Nanometer-Technik gefertigt. Dank freiem Multiplikator ist ein Übertakten der CPU möglich.
i7-9750H: Auf der Coffee-Lake-Architektur basierender SoC (System-on-a-Chip) für große Notebooks. Integriert unter anderem sechs CPU-Kerne mit 2,6 - 4,5 GHz (4 GHz bei allen 6 Kernen) und HyperThreading sowie eine Grafikeinheit und wird in 14-Nanometer-Technik gefertigt.
