Computer maker Asus is fast becoming well known among home users for its Eee PC range of mini-notebooks but it's still making the larger models such as the N80Vc. Being bigger, the N80Vc is more powerful than its Eee cousins and is somewhere in between being a multimedia computer and business PC, with a 14in screen. Although the screen was supposed to be an anti-glare model, we were disappointed to see that in it still suffered from reflected bright light. This was a shame because it's otherwise an excellent screen, with a crystal-clear picture that made watching movies a pleasure. A nicely sized well-rounded laptop, only let down slightly by screen glare.

A portable laptop offering lots of style, but it's let down by a poor keyboard. The Asus N80VC (£699 inc. VAT) is the second N-series laptop we've seen from the Taiwanese company – the first being the N10. We liked the Asus N80VC, and found it a portable, well-specified machine. It's let down severely by the keyboard, however, and there are far more comfortable and better machines to use.

The N80VC comes in at a price point that, just a couple of years ago, would have been considered the bargain-basement end of the laptop market: a no-frills approach where quality, features, components and even design play a distinct second-fiddle to costs. This is no longer the case, and the Asus is a good example of how much you can actually get for your money. It features enough power to satisfy most users, is stylish and comfortable to work on, and offers great connectivity. It’s just a shame that quality has been slightly compromised, and the keyboard severely lets this machine down. It’s still worth a look - but other laptops, such as Samsung’s excellent Q310, offer better quality at a similar price.

NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS: Durch jediglich 8 Unified Shader, unterhalb der 9300M G angesiedelt. Durch die hohe Chiptaktung zeigt die Karte jedoch fast die selbe Performance. Unterstützt Hybrid-SLI mit HybridPower und GeForceBoost.

Diese Karten können nur sehr alte und sehr anspruchslose 3D Spiele flüssig darstellen.  Anwendungen wie Office, Internet surfen, Bildbearbeitung oder (SD) Videoschnitt sind jedoch ohne große Einschränkungen möglich.
