Dem stehen recht wenige Negativpunkte entgegen. So kann ich das Display für meinen Geschmack nicht weit genug aufklappen und auch die starke Spiegelung kann im Alltag stören. Der Alu-Unibody zieht zudem Fingerabdrücke magisch an und zu guter letzt macht die latente (wenn auch zumeist recht leise) Dauerbeschallung durch den Lüfter nicht unbedingt Spaß. Dennoch sind das vielmehr Kleinigkeiten im Vergleich zu all den Pluspunkten, die das Asus-Notebook bei Design und Usability sammeln kann. Und letztlich sind auch die aktuell 1.200 Euro kein unangemessener Preis für die gebotene Qualität.

Abzüge gibt es für das mässige und erst noch spiegelnde Display sowie für die vorinstallierte Bloatware.

Aside from the minor niggles, we really can’t find a fault with the ZenBook 3 Deluxe. It’s incredibly beautiful, well built, has pretty capable hardware plus the legs to go the distance on a single charge. But as always, there’s a catch – and that’s the price. The ZenBook 3 Deluxe UX490 starts at Php 81,995 for the 256GB model, and goes up to Php 104995 for the 1TB model that was in the notebook that we reviewed. That pricing makes it a pretty expensive notebook.

The Asus ZenBook 3 Deluxe UX490UA is an incredibly slim laptop with breathtaking looks, a vivid display and a comfortable keyboard. On the surface, it's easy to fall in love with this comely clamshell. The biggest ding to the device is its poor battery life, coming in under 7 hours in our tests. At least you can use an external webcam to replace the poor, low-res one that comes built in, but you shouldn't have to do that on a $1,700 machine. If you can handle a thicker laptop, consider the Dell XPS 13, which is still our favorite notebook. It lasts longer on a charge, and offers strong performance and a wide variety of ports. Although you can get it starting at $800, I'd recommend starting at the $1,000 or $1,350 configurations for better specs. If you were looking at dropping $1,700 on the ZenBook 3, that's a deal. But if you're going for style points, the ZenBook 3 Deluxe earns top marks. Whether you're at work, the office or home, someone's going to notice your laptop.

Modell: Mit dem Zenbook 3 Deluxe hat Asus eine Aktualisierung der ZenBook-Serie angekündigt. Das Asus Zenbook 3 Deluxe UX490UA ist ein super-schlanker 13-Zoll-Laptop mit einem 14-Zoll-Bildschirm. Die Größe eines Laptops bedeutet nicht unbedingt, dass sein Bildschirm entsprechend groß ist. Tatsächlich ist der Bildschirm eines Laptops wegen des Rahmens normalerweise kleiner als die beworbene Größe. Daher hat Asus das ZenBook 3 Deluxe mit extrem dünnen Rahmen ausgestattet (7,46 mm breit), um dem Notebook die größt mögliche Bildschirmfläche zu ermöglichen. Einige könnten von der Full-HD-Auflösung enttäuscht sein, doch der Bildschirm enttäuscht nicht in puncto Bildqualität. Das glänzende Gorilla Glass des Bildschirms sieht großartig aus und die Farben strahlen gleich wie beim ZenBook 3. Asus spezifiziert eine sRGB-Abdeckung von 100%, was für Fotografen und alle, die lebendige Farben mögen, großartig ist. Das ZenBook 3 Deluxe übernimmt das Design von seinem jüngeren Bruder, der original ZenBook 3. Es handelt sich um den schönsten Premium-Laptop am Markt. Den navy-blaue Aluminium-Deckel zieren das Markenzeichen von Asus, konzentrische Kreise, und ein goldenes Logo. Die Kanten des Bildschirms weisen einen goldenen Akzent auf. Öffnet man den Bildschirmdeckel kommt ein 14-Zoll-1080p-Bildschirm und noch mehr navy-blau zum Vorschein. Im Besonderen ist die Tastatur blau mit goldenen Buchstaben (und einem Tastaturlicht mit Goldton), während der Bereich um die Tastatur und das Touchpad das selbe schöne blau aufweisen. Das Design ist subtil genug für Profis und dennoch attraktiv genug, um die Blicke auf sich zu ziehen.

Die Hardware ähnelt stark dem ZenBook 3. User können zwischen Intel Core i5-7200U und i7-7500U Prozessoren wählen. Bei beiden handelt es sich um Dual-Core-CPUs, die sich gut für Bildbearbeitung und mäßige Office-Arbeit eignen. Sie werden mit 16 GB DDR4 RAM mit 2.133 MHz Taktrate und super-schnellen PCIe SSDs mit bis zu 1 TB Kapazität kombiniert. Zudem wird 802.11ac Wi-Fi und Bluetooth 4.1 unterstützt. Die Tastatur mit Hintergrundlicht hat einen etwas tieferen Hubweg von 1,2 mm, was für das Tippgefühl einen großen Unterschied macht. Das Touchpad wirkt fein und reaktionsfreudig und der nützliche Fingerabdruckleser an der oberen rechten Ecke ist ein willkommenes Extra. Im Inneren des ZenBook 3 Deluxe gibt es vier Lautsprecher. Da bereits das original ZenBook 3 beeindruckendes Audio lieferte, sollten dieses hier noch besser sein. Mit einem Gewicht von 1,22 kg (2,7 Pfund) und 33,92 x 21,34 x 1,27 cm (13 x 8,4 x 0,5 Zoll), ist das ZenBook 3 Deluxe dünner sowie leichter als die meisten Konkurrenten, obwohl seine Grundfläche wegen seines 14-Zoll-Bildschirms etwas ist. Zudem bietet das ZenBook 3 mehr Ports. Insgesamt gibt es drei USB-C-Anschlüsse, die alle zum Aufladen genutzt werden können. Zwei davon unterstützen zum Anschluss von leistungsstarken Displays und Speicher ThunderBolt 3. Beim dritten handelt es sich um einen einfachen USB-3.1-Port. Außerdem bietet der Laptop eine 3,5 mm Kopfhörerbuchse, jedoch keinen SD-Kartenslot. Das Zenbook 3 Deluxe ist definitiv ein erstklassiges Angebot von Asus, doch sein Preis ist heftig.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
