EN→DEThe CMF Phone 2 brings a welcome and meaningful set of improvements compared to the previous CMF model. Overall, it’s a good smartphone for its price. The interface feels light and user-friendly, thanks to Nothing’s custom OS, but there’s no area where it truly stands out above the competition. The gimmick of external accessories no longer feels relevant, if anything, it leaves an unpleasant sense that the new model’s incompatibility with some older accessories was an oversight or design misstep. The price, starting at $330 and topping out under $390, delivers good to very good value at this level, but expectations should be realistic.

EN→DEOne major consideration for US buyers is the limited availability and carrier support. The phone is only available through Nothing's Beta program in the US, and you might encounter compatibility issues depending on your carrier. T-Mobile, my carrier of choice, offers the best connectivity for 3G, 4G, and most 5G. AT&T lacks 5G, VoLTE, and VoWiFi support, while Verizon is even more unreliable. LTE may work if your IMEI is whitelisted, but CDMA and 5G are not supported there. The CMF Phone 2 Pro is a solid low-midrange smartphone that offers excellent value for its cost. The device isn't perfect, but its downsides are all pretty reasonable tradeoffs. The lack of availability of its playful modular system is concerning and could be the one big ding on an otherwise excellent budget device.

EN→DEWith CMF Phone 2 Pro, Nothing is delivering something truly special: a well-rounded, highly capable mid-ranger with a budget price tag. Mono speaker aside, there are no cut corners here, no unpleasant surprises. You’re getting a fun design, beautiful screen, great shooters, solid performance and battery life, excellent software, plus a friendly sprinkling of AI for just $279. That’s the definition of outstanding value. Nothing’s CMF Phone 2 Pro is all the phone you’ll ever need. It makes you forget about flagships and even question why mid-rangers cost $500. And that’s what really makes it so unique.

EN→DEIf you want even bezels but aren't feeling CMF Phone 2 Pro's design, you could opt for Google's Pixel 9a instead. That will cost you over $200 more, but you're still far removed from a grand. If, on the other hand, you do like Nothing's vibe but want just a little bit more umph, Nothing Phone 3a is a valid choice at $380. Yet, were my workflow not so built around using a foldable with a stylus, and all I needed was a phone to do basic phone stuff, I'd be hard-pressed to justify spending more on a phone than this. The CMF Phone 2 Pro sets a new standard for sub-$300 phones. With a distinct look, modular accessories, and competent performance, this is an easy phone to love. That's not to say everything is perfect, with the location of the Essential Key in particular prone to frustrate many buyers.

EN→DEOnly $40 separates last year’s CMF Phone 1 and the new CMF Phone 2 Pro, which is peanuts when I think about the price difference between an iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro. There’s a lot to like about the CMF Phone 2 Pro, like its more premium design, longer battery life, brilliant looking screen, and the addition of a telephoto camera. However, I have higher expectations around any phone that’s deemed a ‘pro’ model because it should present itself as a much improved version. There are aspects about the CMF Phone 2 Pro that I find underwhelming, namely its lackluster processing performance scores and how there’s no big improvement to its camera performance. But at the same time, I can’t neglect how this phone costs $279 — and good phones don’t often come this cheap.

EN→DEThe CMF Phone 2 Pro is an impressive follow-up to last year’s standout budget device. For only a minor price bump, it offers significant upgrades: a more versatile camera, improved display, NFC support, and a better IP rating. The software remains smooth and polished, enhancing its premium feel. While its bold design may not appeal to everyone, and performance-focused users might seek better gaming specs, it’s hard to argue with the value here. At $279 / £219, the CMF Phone 2 Pro delivers a well-rounded experience that rivals more expensive phones, making it one of the best budget options available today.

EN→DEThin, modular, and sporting a brilliant OLED screen, the CMF Phone 2 Pro is a budget phone that's designed to kill its competition. Sure, it does compromise on certain features — just a mono speaker, and like the CMF Phone 1, lacks optical image stabilisation. But honestly, you wouldn't mind or miss it that much. But what makes it really stand out is its ability to add on features. In this instance though, you can add a Universal Cover, which then gives the CMF Phone 2 Pro the ability to use magnetic accessories — such as Apple's MagSafe, though it won't charge the phone, just so we are clear.

EN→DEThe CMF Phone 2 Pro punches way above its weight in multiple areas. The display is crisp and provides a great experience, and even the performance is decent for daily usage, handling casual gaming as well. The phone also gives great camera performance for its segment and is a perfect device for someone looking for good phone-mile photography under Rs 20,000. The phone has some shortcomings like a mono speaker that could have been better and a weaker ultra-wide camera. But nonetheless, it still offers a well-balanced experience for anyone looking for a great all-round device under Rs 20,000.

EN→DEThe CMF Phone 2 Pro’s edgy, industrial design ensures that it is pretty much in a zone of its own as far as appearance goes in its price segment. Ally that with the fact that it has perhaps the best cameras in its segment, the phone becomes one of the best you can get for under Rs 20,000, with the super clean interface being the software cherry on the cake. Nothing’s decision to add a case and charger to the package makes the CMF Phone 2 Pro much easier to recommend than the Phone 1, which lacked both. No, it is not perfect – it is rather large, the absence of stereo speakers is a miss, the mods are not easy to use, and there are phones whose batteries last longer and charge faster – but even with all that factored in, this is a super phone, and perhaps the best for those prioritizing good cameras and/or a clean UI.

EN→DEThe Nothing CMF Phone 2 Pro has a lot going in its favor. The looks are standout, and the in-hand feel defies its budget calling. You get a lovely 120Hz OLED screen, a battery that can last a full day, and a fairly performant silicon. The bloat-free software with a minimalist design language is another winner. It has its distinct charm, while the Essential Space has its functional AI allure. There are only two major caveats. First, you need to enroll with Nothing's beta program in the U.S. and hope that it works with the carrier of your choice*. Second, despite a heavy-hitting camera hardware, Nothing fumbled with the final touch. It gets the job done under daylight, but the moment you go beyond the vanilla point-and-shoot experience, things start to fall apart. It's not a total disaster, but the unrealized potential is quite brazen. If you're looking for alternatives within the $300 bracket, the OnePlus Nord N30 5G is a competent choice. For a vanilla Android experience, the Moto G lineup has a few compelling choices.

EN→DETo conclude, the CMF Phone 2 Pro offers some improvement over its predecessor, the CMF Phone 1. You get fresh design aesthetics and a new range of accessories to play around. However, while doing this, the brand has moved away from its original concept of providing swappable rear panels. The display is crisp and offers vibrant colours to make the whole streaming experience delightful. The performance is decent for daily usage, and it is meant for heavy gaming enthusiasts, to be honest. The cameras are sure to be the star of the show. The daylight performance is decent from both the primary and telephoto lenses. The battery backup is decent, as well. On the flip side, there are some shortcomings as well. The ingress protection has improved, but there is still a long way to go compared to the competition.

EN→DEOkay. So, wrapping up this review, I definitely think the CMF Phone 2 Pro is an excellent smartphone at around NPR 35,000 in Nepal. Its single speaker setup sucks, and I wish Nothing had gone with a slightly more powerful processor as well, but I’d still say this is quite a balanced smartphone. It has a cool design, versatile cameras, a nice bright display, decent battery life, and a clean software experience, which is very rare in this price range. And compared to other phones in this segment, like the Galaxy A16 (review) and Redmi Note 14 5G (review), the CMF Phone 2 Pro is in a different league altogether.

EN→DEThe CMF Phone 2 Pro is a rare standout in the crowded sub-$300 smartphone space. While most budget devices settle for generic designs and modest features, CMF doubles down on personality, usability, and thoughtful design. With its optional magnetic back panel, Essential Space, and vibrant AMOLED display, it offers a user experience that feels far more premium than its price tag suggests. Performance is reliable, battery life is excellent, and the playful hardware customization, while dialed back from the original, still adds charm and utility. Camera performance is a mixed bag, especially in low light, but that’s a common compromise at this price point. The phone’s build quality, ergonomic design, and extended software support make it an even more compelling choice. For users who value both form and function on a budget, the CMF Phone 2 Pro proves that affordable doesn’t have to mean ordinary. EN→DEI’ve used the CMF Phone 2 Pro for at least 10 days and it has coped with normal, everyday duties without issue. The software is fast and fun, the battery returns two days of use on a single charge, and the modular accessories keep it interesting. The screen falls behind the competition and the inconsistent camera means it won’t be one for the keen photographer, but when you consider the phone’s position in the market, these are expected cost-saving compromises. It’s obviously not a Galaxy S25 Ultra or OnePlus 13 alternative, but it’s a lot more fun than the Galaxy A56, and the software, materials, and design make it more desirable and enjoyable to use than a Moto G or a Moto G Stylus. It should force you to ask some hard questions about your phone use, and if it doesn’t really warrant a flagship phone, the CMF Phone 2 Pro belongs on your list of sensibly priced alternatives next to winners like the Nothing Phone 3a Pro and the Google Pixel 9a. It’s a far better phone than the price suggests, and a recommended buy.

EN→DEAs you could probably already tell, we like the CMF Phone 2 Pro quite a bit. It's great value for the money and it is nice that you get double the storage at a lower price than the competition. CMF's most important added value is the clean and well-optimized user interface, and coupled with adequate hardware this results in a phone that runs quite a bit smoother than others and is a joy to use. We are not fully sold on the modularity idea and the screw-on lenses, as those seem more of a marketing gimmick rather than adding real value. Apple's iPhone 16e vs Nothing's CMF Phone 2 Pro, the 'affordable' iOS smartphone vs an actual budget Android, to see which is best! I've reviewed both devices and here's how the CMF Phone 2 Pro beats the iPhone 16e in many areas, including battery life, AI features, customisation and specs. If you've seen my video on Apple's cheapest 2025 slab, you'll know that I think it's an insult to their fans. Why pay £600 UK for this dross, when Nothing delivers incredible value in the CMF Phone 2 Pro? Sure, the iPhone 16e is superior for audio thanks to its stereo speakers, and boasts the more premium design. However, Nothing's blower boasts a 120Hz AMOLED screen that's brighter and notch-free.

EN→DEThe Nothing CMF Phone 2 Pro would be an excellent deal at a much higher price, but at $279, it’s an absolute steal. That’s not to say that you should buy it over an actual flagship phone if you have the budget for one. But if you’re looking for a phone at around $300 or so, this is easily the one to buy. It has an interesting design, an excellent camera, and good performance, not only for a phone in this price range but for one at twice its price point. If you’re interested in the device and live in the US, you’ll have to join Nothing’s so-called beta program, which includes agreeing to potentially not getting full support for your carrier. Not only that, but modular accessories aren’t available in the US, which is a little disappointing. If you’re happy to deal with those caveats, you can check the phone out at the Nothing website.

The phone has a fully sealed back this time, and as such, the back cover isn't detachable; that said, there's a new universal case that allows the use of accessories, and it is a good workaround. If you need a budget phone in 2025, there really isn't anything else that gives you as good a value. EN→DEA year ago I said the CMF Phone 1 “nailed the basics of a budget phone”. Its successor goes even better than that, adding features that were missing before and improving on others. The camera situation has taken a welcome step forward, and the design is a little more mature, too. Or as much as anything this bright and orange can mature, anyway. Performance and battery life have only seen incremental changes, and there are a few more keenly-priced rivals in the mix than there were for the original CMF Phone, but Nothing’s commitment to modularity and a wonderfully customisable Android interface help make this my top pick for the cash. Even the Essential space is becoming that bit more essential than it was on its debut. Unless you’re willing to spend twice as much on better low-light photography and gaming oomph, there’s very little not to like here.

EN→DEThe CMF Phone 2 Pro is a promising successor to the CMF Phone 1. The handset addresses many of the shortcomings of its predecessor, offering a more refined design, better durability, and a bundle of thoughtful accessories straight out of the box. The inclusion of the triple-camera setup, while ambitious for its price bracket, delivers generally pleasing results, although it’s not without its limitations, especially in low light and colour accuracy. The new interchangeable lens system will appeal particularly to content creators, even if it’s somewhat niche for the average user. Performance-wise, the Phone 2 Pro strikes a solid balance between power and efficiency, handling daily tasks and extended gaming sessions with ease, while keeping thermal throttling impressively low. EN→DEI won’t mince words here: if you live outside the United States and want an Android phone that costs less than $300, this is now the only thing I would recommend. You’ll get a fantastic display, a forward-thinking, beautiful design, and a camera system that literally has no equal at this price point. Frankly, you’d be throwing money away if you were to buy anything else. Here in the United States, though, I can’t be so confident. The lack of adequate band support brings the phone down significantly, and the lack of access to its unique accessories drags it down even more. Even when you factor in its camera system and low price, it might be better to get something else instead. If you do live in the US and are looking for something good at around this price, I’d start with the Samsung Galaxy A25 5G ($299.99 at Amazon).

EN→DEI loved the CMF Phone 1, and it has been the top Tech Advisor budget phone recommendation since launch. With the launch of the CMF Phone 2 Pro, Nothing has stuck to the same core concept and simply made everything better. It costs an extra £10 (at MSRP), but that’s a small price to pay for a much better display, a faster processor and a much more versatile set of cameras. If you’re on board with the (admittedly divisive) styling – both physically and for software – and you’re looking for a phone in this price range, this is a wonderfully complete package. Of course, it won’t be the perfect fit for everyone, and the right phone for you all depends on your priorities. If you’re a gamer and you can stretch the budget slightly, the powerful Poco F6 can currently be had for just £249, now it’s a year old.

Unboxing Nothing's CMF Phone 2 Pro, with an early review of the camera tech, gaming performance, battery life and more. The CMF Phone 2 Pro is already one of the best budget smartphones of 2025, fixing many problems with the Phone 1! For one, Nothing has now added NFC support for contactless payments, plus an Always On Display. The CMF Phone 2 Pro is an even more capable gaming device, as you'll see in my Wuthering Waves tests. Plus, you've got another neat selection of accessories to customise and personalise this smartphone. The Nothing CMF Phone 2 Pro hasn't changed much as far as media creds go. But for a price of just over £200 UK, you get a reasonably bright AMOLED screen (plus, yes, a mono speaker setup).
