Das Honor 20 Pro ist ein gutes Smart­phone, das vor allem mit seiner Perfor­mance und der Kamera punkten kann. Davon kann sich so manches oft doppelt so teures Smart­phone eine Scheibe von abschneiden. Auch das 6,26-Zoll-Display hinter­lässt einen guten Eindruck. Mehr Hellig­keit hätte dem Panel aber nicht geschadet, dann wäre die Ables­barkeit bei starker Licht­einstrah­lung besser gewesen. Für ernst gemeinten Musik­genuss ist der Single-Laut­spre­cher unge­eignet und die Möglich­keit der Spei­cher­erwei­terung wäre wünschens­wert gewesen. Intern sind aber immerhin 256 GB Spei­cher­platz verbaut.

The Honor 20 Pro has a lot of similarities to the Honor 20. One would question would I need the 20 pro when the Honor 20 is basically the same thing. Apart from a few changes. The key differences and what makes this phone worth the purchase are the optical zoom and overall camera. If I was going to find fault with this phone being left-handed the fingerprint sensor is on the wrong side of the phone but it is something you can handle and was not a deal-breaker. Once you get used to that you will find unlocking your phone much better compared to the face ID in an iPhone X that sometimes does not work. Another issue I have with this phone is it’s not water-resistant so be careful when you take your phone down by the pool or beach on holiday. The Honor 20 Pro is not able to use wireless charging but with massive battery life and the fact you have fast charging you can live without wireless charging.

Our expectations before we tested the Honor 20 Pro may have been raised because of the good test results of its camera capabilities when launched in May. However, the overall results for audio were rather disappointing: the speaker scores were inadequate (but not the worst), although spatial playback was a particular problem. However, the flagship device from Honor fared better as a recording device. It did stumble occasionally, but only on the use cases that all the other devices have found difficult, such as recording electronic concerts. On the whole, the Honor is worth a consideration for those who don’t want to spend premium flagship money on a smartphone but still desire decent sound performance.

Of bigger concern is the fact that Honor is being subjected to some serious competition from the like of Xiaomi and Nokia (HMD), Samsung and Motorola – the last three of which have got a bigger high street presence. This would be fine if it was not for the £549.95 price tag, as this is a very hotly contended area on the market right now. The real problem is that other manufacturers are putting in devices with competing specs and also in some cases better specs for the same level of money or less. I feel that for this reason the more sensible choice is the cheaper but by no means inferior Honor 20. The exception to that rule is if you need a high performing camera phone without the high price ticket, then you would be best served with the Honor 20 Pro.

Lastly, I would like to mention the fingerprint reader – it is great. I have to say that I do like a physical fingerprint reader over the under-screen/in-screen option. I guess it is just from my Xperia days, but it just feels right and 9 times out 10 it will work exactly as prescribed. Something that cannot be said for the former versions. So I commend Honor for being “brave” enough to buck the trend and use it here.

I personally think the HONOR 20 Pro is more suited for people who are in the lifestyle business (like vloggers) and the RM2299 is just at the right pricing. Given 111 points by DxOMark, it's certainly a powerhouse camera phone that most consumers can utilize, particularly in low-light photography and portrait modes. The macro camera is a pointless addition in our view, there's no 3.5mm headphone jack and some details - such as the notification light being irritatingly in-your-face behind the front-facing ear speaker - aren't as refined as they could be. Modell: Man könnte meinen, Huawei wäre dafür bekannt, hochwertige Telefone zu einem etwas günstigeren Preis anzubieten als vergleichbare oder schwächere Modelle von Samsung. Wenn dies zutrifft, tut es Honor seiner Muttermarke Huawei genau gleich. Das Honor 20 Pro ist ein perfektes Beispiel dafür. Das Honor 20 Pro verfügt über eine hervorragende Verarbeitungsqualität mit nahtlosem Übergang zwischen Seitenrahmen und Glas an Vorder- und Rückseite. Viele Benutzer berichten, es würde sehr ähnlich wie die iPhone Xs-Serie wirken. Wie beim View 20 sorgt auch beim Honor 20 Pro ein Bildschirm mit Loch an der linken Seite für eine Full-Screen-Erfahrung. Im Gegensatz zum View 20 bietet das Honor 20 einen Fingerabdruckscanner an seiner Seitenkante. Dieser ist extrem schnell und zuverlässig, für den normalen Gebrauch jedoch etwas zu schmal. Glücklicherweise kann das Honor 20 auch mit einer hervorragende Gesichtserkennung entsperrt werden. Oben auf dem Telefon befinden sich der längst verlorene IR-Blaster und das Mikrofon. Das SIM-Fach befindet sich auf der linken Seite und Mikrofon, USB-C 2.0-Anschluss und der Lautsprecher befinden sich an der unteren Kante. Beim Bildschirm handelt es sich um ein 6,26 Zoll großes IPS LCD mit einer Auflösung von 1.080 x 2.340 Pixeln. Das Bildschirm-zu-Gehäuse-Verhältnis beträgt 84,1%. An Hardware stehen ein HiSilicon Kirin 980 Prozessor, 256 GB interner Speicher und 8 GB RAM zur Verfügung. Allerdings ist es leider nicht möglich, den Speicher via Speicherkarte zu erweitern.

Das Honor 20 Pro bietet eine Quad-Kamera an der Rückseite. Diese besteht aus einem 48-Megapixel-Objektiv mit OIS, einem 8-Megapixel-Teleobjektiv mit OIS und 3-fachem optischen Zoom, einem 16-Megapixel-Ultra-Weitwinkelobjektiv und einer 2-Megapixel-Makrokamera. Die Quad-Kamera kann Videos in 4K-Auflösung aufnehmen. Viele der ersten Tests berichten über eine erstaunliche Bildqualität, die zu den Besten zu zählen ist. Die Front-Kamera verfolgt mit nur einem 32-MP-Sensor einen traditionelleren Ansatz. Außerdem bietet das Honor 20 Pro das neueste Bluetooth 5.0 für schnellere Verbindungen. Es verfügt über einen großen 4000-mAh-Akku, der das 22,5-W-Fast-Charging von Huawei unterstützt. Das Telefon ist in zwei Farben erhältlich: Phantom-Blue und Phantom-Black. Preis, Design und Verarbeitungsqualität machen das Honor 20 Pro definitiv zu einer guten Ware fürs Geld. Es bietet alles, was für ein Telefon wichtig ist, und verzichtet auf weniger oft Benötigtes wie kabelloses Laden und Wasserdichtheit. Sein Hauptkonkurrent ist das Redmi Note 7, das aufgrund seines Snapdragon-Prozessors tendenziell in puncto Leistung etwas besser abschneidet.
