It looks nice and it's well built, gets a good matte screen and a decent keyboard, handles daily chores without chocking and lasts for quite a while on a charge. It's also one of the few user-upgradable ultrabooks of this generation. But don't expect this to offer ThinkPad features and traits at a fraction of the cost, as the two lines have little in common. In fact, as you'll find from the detailed review below, the ThinkBook 13s is rather a rebranded and tweaked IdeaPad, and as long as you're getting it with the right expectations, it should do very well by you.

What they lack, insofar as specifications are concerned, are the security features of the ThinkBook 13s like the TPM chip and webcam privacy shutter. If these security features are important to you, then the choice is clear. The Lenovo ThinkBook 13s is a compelling option given its price, features, and specifications. For everyone else who just wants a notebook for general computing purposes and light gaming, know that there are other alternatives worth checking out.

It features both plenty of modern conveniences and decent specs. The design doesn’t get everything right and there’s definitely room for improvement but after my time with the ThinkBook 13s, I’m taking the sub-brand a lot more seriously than I did before. If Lenovo stuck an SD card slot on this thing, I could almost see myself using one. There’s far more to the ThinkBook 13s than just the subtraction that Lenovo have done to draw a line between it and from the pricier ThinkPad lineup. Even if there are limitations and shortcoming, this isn’t a story about compromise. The ThinkBook 13s is an adept workplace PC that’s nice to look at and easy to rely on.

On the performance side, it runs really good, even with 8GB of RAM. The sound quality is powered by Harmen, so you know you’re getting as true sound as you can in a laptop. The Lenovo ThinkBook 13s is definitely worthy of being a Top Pick for 2019.

Serie: Im Gegensatz zur vielbeachteten ThinkPad-Serie von gleichen Hersteller ist das Lenovo ThinkBook 13s ein Business-Laptop mit Unterhaltungsfunktionen zur stressfreie Freizeitgestaltung an einem möglicherweise anstrengenden Arbeitsplatz. Mit einem einfachen Befehl – sei es in Form eines Fingerabdruck oder sei es Sprachaktivierung – lässt sich am Lenovo ThinkBook 13s das Betriebssystem starten.
Das Lenovo ThinkBook 13s soll maximal 13,3 Zoll messen. Mit weniger als 14 Zoll gehört es zu den kleinsten Notebook-Modellen mit kompakten Abmessungen. Damit ist das Lenovo ThinkBook 13s sehr portabel. Aufgrund seiner geringen Abmessungen braucht es am Arbeitsplatz weniger Platz und passt problemlos in eine Tasche von Pendlern. Das bequem transportierbare Lenovo ThinkBook 13s bietet zahlreiche Funktionen, mit denen Sie sich schneller und einfacher auf die aktuelle Aufgabe konzentrieren können. Zum Beispiel verfügt es über eine biometrische Anmeldefunktion in Form eines kleinen Kreises, die den herkömmlichen Ein- / Ausschalter ersetzt – einen ach so einfachen Knopf, der seit jeher bei den meisten Laptop-Modellen üblich ist. Dieser kleine Kreis namens Power-Circle reagiert angemessen auf menschliche Haut. Damit kann das Lenovo ThinkBook 13s problemlos mit nur einer einzigen Berührung gestartet werden. Außerdem kann das Lenovo ThinkBook s13 – dank der innovativen künstlichen Intelligenz aus der Cloud, besser bekannt als Cortana – durch Spracherkennung aus dem Energiesparmodus aktiviert werden. Diese beide Funktionen zur Systemaktivierung erleichtern bequem die Rückkehr zur Arbeit oder zu jeder Aufgabe und reagieren in weniger als fünf Sekunden.
Außerdem bietet das Lenovo ThinkBook 13s integrierte Sicherheitsfunktionen, um das Problem des einfachen Zugriffs durch Berührung des Power-Circles oder Sprachaktivierung zu lösen. Das standardmäßige vorhandene diskrete Trusted Platform Module (dTPM) verschlüsselt Daten und andere geschäftskritische Information und arbeitet mit den Sicherheitsfunktionen von Windows 10 zusammen. Der ThinkShutter, den man häufig in den neuesten offiziellen Lenovo-Modellen antrifft, deckt die Kamera physisch ab. Diese Abdeckung wird vor die Linse geschoben und schützt vor neugierigen Blicken vom anderen Ende. Wie bereits erwähnt, fungiert der Power Circle auch als biometrisches Login in Form eines Fingerabdrucklesers. Dieser kann so konfiguriert werden, dass nur der Fingerabdruck des Benutzers erkannt wird, um Zugriff auf das Lenovo ThinkBook 13s zu gewähren.

Intel UHD Graphics 620: Integrierte Grafikkarte (GT2-Ausbau, 24 EUs), welche in einigen Kaby-Lake-CPUs (Refresh, ULV-Modelle, 15 Watt TDP) verbaut wird. Technisch identisch zur HD Graphics 620 in den Kaby-Lake Modellen aus 2016.
Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
