Der Chip bietet einen TDP von 45 Watt (konfigurierbar auf 35 W). Die sechs Prozessorkerne können von 2,6 bis 4,4 GHz (Einzel- und Zweikern-Turbo) takten. Alle Kerne gemeinsam können maximal 4 GHz erreichen. Der Prozessor bietet 12 MB Level 3 Cache und unterstützt DDR4-3200 Speicher. Die integrierte Grafik basiert auf die Xe-Architektur und ist UHD Graphics benannt (32 EUs). Im 11260H taktet sie von 350 - 1400 MHz und damit 50 MHz geringer als bei den stärkeren Modellen. Der Chip wird im neuen 10nm SuperFin Prozess gefertigt.

Dank der neuen Tiger Lake Architektur sollte die Leistung vergleichbar mit dem hoch getakteten 6-Kerner Intel Core i7-10850H (Comet Lake-H, 6 Kerne, 2,7 - 5,1 GHz, 16 MB L3) liegen und auch mit dem Ryzen 5 5600H (6 Kerne, 2,4 - 3,3 GHz, 16 MB L3) mithalten können.

Wie bei den kleineren Tiger-Lake-Chips wird auch hier WLAN (Wifi 6E) und Thunderbolt 4 / USB 4  im Chip (teil-)integriert für schnellere, günstige und platzsparende Implementierungen in Notebooks. Weiters bietet der i5-11400H 20 PCIe 4.0 Lanes.

Der TDP ist bei 2,6 GHz Basistakt mit 45 Watt spezifiziert und kann auf 35 Watt und dadurch 2,1 GHz verringert werden (cTDP). Dadurch eignet sich die CPU am besten für große und schwere Notebooks.
