All in all, Toshiba's lightweight T135D is more affordable than previous Intel-based models. For approximately $100 less, the AMD Neo-powered T135D-S1324 still offers acceptable performance even though benchmark scores aren't quite as high as the similarly equipped Intel-powered version. Battery life is perhaps the biggest downside to the AMD-powered version: the T135D-S1324 offered just over two hours of cord-free computing time.

For one thing, the glossy black chassis, accented with a subtle carbon-fiber graphic, can be a magnet for fingerprints and smudges; but the unit's subtle curves and smart tapering down (from about 1.5 inches in back to just over a half inch in the front) make it a good design for carrying in your hand or in a bag. The T135D-S1324 is an easily packable laptop ideal for light-duty office, home, and travel use.

In a world of Netbooks toting endlessly similar Atom processors, having a higher-powered dual-core processor such as the U4100 in the T135-S1310 made a big difference in the amount of productivity we could expect in a slim laptop with strong battery life. Toshiba's lightweight and affordable thin-and-light T135 series shaves another hundred off its price by switching to an AMD Neo processor in the T135D-S1324, while offering only slightly diminished performance.

With this laptop, Toshiba brings the AMD Turion Neo chip to the budget-ultraportable party. This 13.3-inch machine has a sharp design and some nice extras, not to mention decent performance.

Toshiba's Satellite T135D is best described as a netbook that outgrew the platform. It has a large screen, hard drive and more memory but still has the same general performance found in a typical netbook. It clearly offers a better graphics solution than netbooks and even some ultraportables. What it doesn't offer though is very long running times making it less suitable for someone wanting an all-day laptop.

ATI Radeon HD 3200:

onboard Grafikchip (RS780M Chipsatz) von AMD mit Avivo HD Technologie zur Entlastung der CPU bei HD Videos. Der Kern basiert auf eine HD 2400. Achtung, unter XP soll es keine 2D Beschleunigung aufgrund eines Treiberfehlers geben.

AMD Turion Neo X2:

L625: Subnotebook Doppelkernprozessor mit vergleichbarer Performance wie der Intel SU4100 (1.2 GHz) bei höherem Stromverbrauch.

AMD Athlon Neo:

MV-40: Langsamer Einkernprozessor für dünne Subnotebooks. Die Performance liegt etwas oberhalb der Intel Atom CPUs, jedoch ist der Stromverbrauch höher.

13.3: 13 Zoll ist ein häufiges, jedenfalls aber das grösste Displayformat für Subnotebooks. Der Vorteil von Subnotebooks liegt darin, dass das Notebook klein dimensioniert sein kann und daher leicht tragbar ist. Das verhältnismäßig kleine Display hat noch den Vorteil wenig Strom zu benötigen, was die Akkulaufzeit und damit die Mobilität weiter verbessert. Der Nachteil ist, dass das Lesen von Texten ein wenig anstrengend für die Augen ist. Sehr hohe Auflösungen sind nur bedingt nutzbar. Nicht fehlsichtige Menschen sollten mit dieser Displaygröße aber zurechtkommen können.
