Das Unibody-Gehäuse ist robust und sieht gut aus, der fest verbaute Akku bringt deutlich längere Laufzeiten und Ersatz ist nicht teurer als bisher. Auch das große Glas-Trackpad ist eine echte Bereicherung mit seinen Mehrfingergesten.

Das Macbook Summer 2009 schlägt sich in seiner Preiskategorie gut. Die Grafikleistung reicht sogar für einige Spiele, und insgesamt ist es auch kaum langsamer als das 13.3" Macbook Pro. Die Akkulaufzeit ist akzeptabel, das Display kann sich ebenfalls sehen lassen - alles in allem ein gutes Arbeitsgerät zu einem fairen Preis.

  Das kleine weiße MacBook aus 06/2009 ist als Gesamtpaket ein liebenswertes Sub- / Multimedia-Notebook mit sehr guten Eingabegeräten, guter Akkulaufzeit und einer deutlich verbesserten Performance (im Vergleich zur Generation mit Intel Grafik). Dadurch müssen nur Spieler und Performance User mit hohen Anforderungen einen Bogen um das Gerät machen. Die größte Schwachstelle des Laptops ist der spiegelnde Bildschirm, welcher nur mittelmäßige Eigenschaften bietet. Für 200 Euro Aufpreis erhält man das minimal schnellere Aluminium MacBook Pro. Es ist etwas leichter, hat eine längere Akkulaufzeit und ein besseres Display, allerdings mit eventuell etwas stärkeren Reflexionen.

Stripped of the glossy, attention-seeking clothes of the average laptop, its body is hewn from a single chunk of aluminium, with just the black of the keyboard and display bezel to contrast against it. If you want a sturdy, attractive, powerful and versatile laptop with the stamina to travel, Apple's latest is a superb choice.

It’s tempting to dismiss the new White MacBook as the runt of the Apple litter. Its white plastic casing certainly looks rather cheap and cheerful compared to the gleaming aluminium of the more expensive MacBook Pro range – in fact, Apple didn’t even dignify the arrival of this latest model with a press release. With Apple's unibody MacBook Pro stealing the limelight it's sometimes easy to forget that the white MacBook, which first went on sale way back in 2006, is still around. Aside from a rather stingy hard drive, this is a decent laptop. However, it's hamstrung by its need to not be 'too cheap' and a chassis that's known to be less than sturdy. If it was retailing around the £650 to £700 mark it would be a very serious contender, but as things stand there are lots of avenues we'd investigate before opting for the MacBook.

  Depending on your specific needs, for around £750, you're getting a real bargain with the last Apple MacBook. You can either approach the purchase as 'for £150 more I can get a MacBook Pro' or 'I can get something nearly as good as a MacBook Pro and save £150'. The latter perspective, however, requires you to be willing to skip some of the Pro-level features.

If you're in the market for an affordable Mac laptop, the white MacBook is a better bargain than ever. With its impressive performance, battery life, the inclusion of FireWire, and more common mini-DVI connector, the only reason to pay more for the low-end aluminum is the updated unibody design.

NVIDIA GeForce 9400M (G) / ION (LE): Integrierte (shared Memory) Grafikkarte und zum Zeitpunkt des Erscheinens schnellste integrierte Grafikkarte für Notebooks. Von Apple nur 9400M genannt. Wird auch in der ION (LE) Plattform verwendet. Mit DDR3 Hauptspeicher vergleichbar mit Einsteigslösungen wie der 9300M GS. Integrierter PureVideo HD (VP3) Videoprozessor zum Dekodieren von HD Videos.

Diese Karten können nur sehr alte und sehr anspruchslose 3D Spiele flüssig darstellen.  Anwendungen wie Office, Internet surfen, Bildbearbeitung oder (SD) Videoschnitt sind jedoch ohne große Einschränkungen möglich.
