The Dell Chromebook 13 is undoubtedly a premium Chromebook, but Chrome OS still doesn’t really justify the need for such wanton specifications. In all fairness, this is a complaint which can also be levelled at the Chromebook Pixel as well, but when Google's Chromebook offers so much more for less once you add in VAT, the top-end Chromebook 13 is difficult to recommend.

The Dell comes as close to the ideal Chromebook as anything I’ve tested. The catch is that you’ll pay for it. It’s probably best compared directly to the only Chromebook that’s more powerful and pricier—the Pixel. If you want a high-end Chromebook and don’t mind spending $900 for it, the Dell bests the Pixel in many ways, including battery life.

Unless you simply crave a touch screen, the $799 Dell Chromebook 13 is a formidable rival to the class-leading $999 Google Pixel, and maybe even the $1,299 Core i7 Pixel. One touch of its carbon-fiber lid and you'll be spoiled for ordinary Chromebook construction—even that of excellent contenders like the Toshiba Chromebook 2, which also has a 13.3-inch IPS 1,920x1,080 display and was just refreshed with a choice of Celeron or Core i3 power.

Modell: Das Dell Chromebook 13, Core i5-5300U ist ein elegantes, jedoch diskret aussehendes Gerät für business-orientierte Kunden. Es verfügt über eine Chiclet-Tastatur und ein Präzisions-Touchpad mit nahtlos unter der Glasoberfläche integrierten Buttons für mehr Ergonomie beim Navigieren. Das gesamte Chassis ist solide, jedoch für optimale Portabilität leicht. Der Bildschirmdeckel ist ein modernes Kohlefaser-Panel mit Textur. Beim Bildschirm des Dell Chromebook 13 handelt es sich um ein 13,3 Zoll großes FHD-Panel, optional mit Toucheingabe. Beide Optionen verfügen über ausreichende Schärfe und Farbsättigung.

Das Dell Chromebook 13 verfügt über einen Intel Core i5-5300U Prozessor, bis zu 8 GB RAM, eine Intel HD Graphics 5500 GPU und eine 32 GB SSD. Netzwerkverbindungen können via einer Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11AC Karte hergestellt werden, da Chrome OS vorwiegend von seiner Internet-Verbindung abhängig ist. Weitere Features des Dell Chromebook 13, Core i5-5300U sind ein USB-3.0-Port, ein USB-2.0-Port, ein HDMI-1.4-Ausgang und ein microSD-Slot. Dank 6-Zellen-Akku mit einer Nennkapazität von 67 Wh ist die Akkulaufzeit beeindruckend und ermöglicht unterwegs ausgedehntes Arbeiten.

Intel HD Graphics 5500: Integrierte Grafikkarte (GT2), welche in einigen Broadwell-ULV-CPUs (15 Watt TDP) verbaut wird.

Einige nicht anspruchsvolle aktuelle Spiele können mit geringen Details noch flüssig gespielt werden. Für Office und Video natürlich ausreichende Leistungsreserven.
