Archive.org versionMit dem Tablet 8 gibt Gigaset sein Tablet-Debüt, und zwar im Niedrigpreissegment. Entsprechend sparsam fällt die Ausstattung mit nur 8 GByte Flashspeicher aus. Auch das dunkle und kontrastarme 8-Zoll-Display zeigt im Test, wo der Hersteller den Rotstift angesetzt hat. Das Handling ist noch gut, die Laufzeiten fallen aber mau aus.

At 0.29cd/m2 the Gigaset QV380’s black levels were fractionally deeper than more expensive tablets such as the Tesco Hudl2, which is impressive. Its contrast ratio was also excellent all things considered at 1,031:1, as good as the Tesco Hudl2 and almost equalling the Asus MeMO Pad 8, both pricier tablets. Colours produced were suitably vibrant and, while not the most accurate, the display would have been respectable were it not for the low resolution and grainy texture.

For a budget device, it’s great.

However, if your budget is fixed, and you're not looking to play the latest and greatest games, then the larger (if lower res) screen and metallic feel might be enough to keep you content.

However, don’t think you’re getting everything an iPad – or even Nexus 7 – offers for less cash. Most of the specs are a year or two out of date and the Gigaset QV830’s performance is less than perfect. If you just want something to browse the web and play casual games on while lounging on the sofa, though, it’s a pretty great buy for the family. Ultra-budget tablets like this are far, far better than they used to be just a couple of years ago.

Das Gigaset QV830 ist ein multimedia-orientiertes mit schlankem Profil, das sich als Einstiegs-Tablet eignet. Das Design ist sehr einfach und es sieht abgesehen von Ausbuchtungen an beiden Seiten wie jedes andere blockförmige Gerät aus. Von vorne wirkt es wie ein Retro-Fernseher oder ein Schnappschuss, der mit verzerrtem Weitwinkelobjektiv aufgenommen wurde. Es ist in zwei Farben erhältlich, schwarz oder weiß.
Das Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Gerät verfügt über einen 8 Zoll großen 4:3 TFT-Bildschirm mit IPS-Technologie. Während die Qualität für Entertainment fraglich ist, ist sie in Anbetracht des Preises verständlich. Zur Hardware gehören ein MTK MT8125 Cortex A7 Quad-Core-Prozessor, 1 GB DDR3L RAM und 8 GB interner Speicher. User werden froh sein, dass microSDs bis zu 32 GB unterstützt werden.
Es gibt eine 5 MP Autofokus-Kamera an der Rückseite und eine 1.2-MP-Frontkamera. Beide sind für Schnappschüsse unterwegs adäquat. Zu den weiteren Features gehören Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS, WiFi und ein Mono-Lautsprecher. Die Akkulaufzeit ist gut. Der 3260 mAh Lithium-Polymer-Akku schafft bis zu 7 Stunden Video-Wiedergabe.

3D Spiele sind auf diesen Vertretern nur in Ausnahmen spielbar, grundsätzlich sind die Grafiklösungen hierfür jedoch nicht geeignet. Office Programme und Internet surfen dürfte jedoch ohne Problem möglich sein.
