With its beautiful display, pretty good battery life and decent performance, the Lenovo IdeaPad 7i Slim Pro is a pretty solid ultraportable for not a ton of money. It should serve you well as a daily driver for work if you can overlook the lack of port variety, awful webcam, and disappointing speaker performance. If you want something that may be able to provide you with a little more, you can always check out the Dell Inspiron 14, which has the added value of being a 2-in-1 so you can fold the keyboard around to turn it into a (bulky) tablet. If you don’t mind a smaller screen, the Dell XPS 13 is one of our favorite ultraportables, and if you don’t splurge for the (admittedly excellent) OLED display option you can get an XPS 13 for roughly the same price as Lenovo’s IdeaPad 7i Slim Pro.

Among Lenovo's multiple laptop brands, the IdeaPad family is decidedly the one designed for consumers: people who want decent performance at a reasonable price. Consider, then, this laptop a paragon for the pickier members of that crowd. With a 14-inch touch-enabled display, a comfortable keyboard, an Evo-certified Intel Core i7 11th Generation CPU, and the latest Windows 11 operating system, the IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro ultraportable ($1,199 as tested) is a slick mainstream machine at a bit of a premium price, and quite capable for everyday tasks. It's got the looks, and the performance; what it doesn't, and what holds it back from higher honors, is battery life.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro is a really good laptop that has a mix of pros and cons. Mostly, the display is beautiful. It’s high-resolution and high refresh rate. I assume that we’ll see more high refresh rate screens in the world of Windows, but for now, it’s pretty rare. At the least, it’s worth checking out; I think you’ll be surprised at how much you like it. It does have its share of shortcomings though. The high resolution and refresh rate does affect the battery, and combined with the 35W processor, you’ll want to have the charger with you. It’s also got a 720p webcam, which is unacceptable in the age of working from home. But the overall experience is just so good. It’s got a phenomenal keyboard, a beautiful display, solid build quality, and proper ports. With the 35W processor, you can connect an external GPU without feeling a lag in CPU performance. It’s pretty great.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro is a 14” Ultrabook with a more powerful CPU and a better than average 16:10 aspect ratio 90Hz high res touch screen compared to competitors in its sub- $1,000 price class. The clamshell Windows 11 laptop has Intel Core i5 and i7 35 watt 11th gen CPUs instead of the usual lower power U series processors, and Intel Iris Xe graphics. The laptop has 16GB RAM, a 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, USB-A and a Windows Hello IR camera with presence detection to automatically lock and unlock Windows. The 2880 x 1800 display, aluminum case with 1 finger opening and an ample battery round out the features.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro is positioned as a midrange laptop, but priced like a premium machine, and fortunately, it lives up to the latter. Its build quality is slightly lacking and its battery life is mediocre, but its performance is solid and its display is excellent for the class of machine. It’s a good-looking laptop that’s reasonably sized and attractive, if simply designed. The extra features, such as the user presence detection technology, are welcome additions that add value. The IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro is a solid addition to the 14-inch clamshell market and carves out a healthy niche for itself thanks to its superior display.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
