Das Acer Aspire One macht keine schlechte Figur. Preislich ist es jedenfalls interessant - für 329 Euro in der Linux Variante bekommt man ein Westentaschengerät, dass man überall dabei haben kann. Zumindest, bis die Batterie nach 2,5 Stunden schlapp macht. Der Produktivität unterwegs steht nichts im Weg, da Open Office 2.3 vorinstalliert ist. Firefox bringt den Nutzer ins Netz, und sowohl Email Client als auch ein Messenger sind installiert. Die Spiele sind zwar simpel, aber unterhaltsam und haben teilweise Suchtpotential. Schade, dass es sich um nur eingeschränkt nutzbare Demo-Versionen handelt - zumal man die meisten als Flash-Spiele kostenlos im Netz findet. Der Media-Player gibt sich wählerisch. Im Audiobereich versteht er sich auf MP3, OGG und WMA. MP4/AAC bleiben aber außen vor. Dass ein Linux das proprietäre WMV abspielt, dafür aber kein XVID kennt, war unerwartet.

Der Netbook-Hype scheint nicht zu enden. Das Acer Aspire One A150X mit Windows XP Home kann zwar mitschwimmen, mit Outdoor-Experten wie dem MSI Wind oder dem Medion Netbook aber nicht mithalten. Spiegelndes Display und schwache Kontraste machen das Sonnenlicht zum Todestrip. Designstark wirkt das Gerät vor allem auf den Business-Bereich. Während das MSI Wind sogar in pink versucht die weibliche Käuferschaft zu überzeugen kommt das Aspire One in weiß und blau. Farben die eher für schlichte Arbeits-Tiere eingesetzt werden. Die Kombination aus Intel Atom Prozessor, 1 GByte Arbeitsspeicher und Windows XP steht in einem guten Licht.

Ebenso wie der EeePC ist das farbenfrohe Gehäuse des Aspire One sehr robust gebaut. Auch bei der Befestigung des Displays gibt es nichts zu beanstanden, obwohl diese im Gegensatz zum Netbook von Asus nicht ganz so massiv ausgeführt ist. Demzufolge eignet sich das Aspire One sehr gut für den mobilen Einsatz. Da auch die Bedienung der Linux-Oberfläche sehr einfach zu erlernen ist, dürften auch Menschen, die nicht so geübt im Umgang mit Rechnern sind, sich leicht zurecht finden. Erhältlich ist das Acer Aspire one 110L bereits seit Ende Juli 2008. Der empfohlene Verkaufspreis von Acer inklusive einem Jahr Herstellergarantie beträgt 329 Euro.

Der Acer Aspire One ist eine echte Konkurrenz zum Asus Eee PC: Er überflügelt sowohl die Linux- wie die Windows-Variante des Netbook-Pioneers in vielen Aspekten. Und er ist günstig: Während aktuelle Netbooks schon bei rund 400 Euro liegen, kostet der Aspire One nur 330 Euro. Das schönste Netbook ist er außerdem – wenn man ihn regelmäßig reinigt. Dank Linux und der vielen installieren Programme lässt sich der Aspire One komfortabel bedienen. Doch für einige Tools gibt es ausgereiftere und leistungsfähigere Alternativen, die Linux-Kenner anstelle des Acer-Angebotes installieren sollten. Die Rechenleistung reicht für das beschränkte Einsatzgebiet des Aspire One vollkommen aus. Ein klarer Minuspunkt ist aber der geringe Festplattenplatz: Hier ist der Medion Akoya mit seiner 80-GB-Festplatte deutlich besser aufgestellt.

Wenn Sie Computer-Neueinsteiger sind und mit den kleinen Eingaben zurechtkommen – dann ist das Aspire One A110L LINUX ausreichend. Wenn Sie den Aspire One als Surf-Maschine oder als mobilen Notizblock nutzen wollen – dann genügt es ebenso. Das Aspire One A110L LINUX eignet sich für Einsteiger ohne PC / Computer Kenntnisse. Oder es kann Leute begeistern, die es als Zweit oder Dritt-Gerät für die auf Seite 3 beschriebenen einfachen Zwecke verwenden. Wer sein komplettes digitales Leben auf dem Aspire One abwickeln will, der wird mit diesem Mini-Notebook nicht glücklich werden. Glücklich wird, wer sich mit den vielfältigen aber einfachen Linux Anwendungen zufrieden gibt. Gefallen hat den Testern die stabile Bauweise – besonders des Deckels.

Bereits das Aspire one aus der Vorserie gefällt uns extrem gut und wesentlich besser als die Eee PCs 701 4G und 900. Das NetBook ist nicht nur liebevoller und wertiger gestaltet, sondern auch flotter, moderner und besser ausgestattet. Wenn Acer auch noch die Laufzeit etwas verbessert, gibt es außer dem etwas niedrigeren Preis keinen Grund mehr, einen Eee PC 701 4G und erst recht keinen Eee PC 900 zu kaufen.

Since the prices of mini-notebooks have seemingly been escalating with each new model, we’re pleased to see one for just $349, adhering to the idea of the “low-cost PC.” The 9-inch Asus Eee PC 901 XP ($520 with rebate at Newegg.com, as of this writing) has a faster solid state drive, but the Aspire one offers much more capacity (120GB vs. 12GB) and costs $171 less. And even if you opt for the Aspire one with the 6-cell battery, you’ll still be paying $121 less. The Touchpad is small and the vertical buttons are awkward, but we prefer the Aspire one overall because it offers a superior keyboard and much better bang for your buck. In the suddenly crowded field of mini-notebooks, the XP version of the Aspire one offers the best value.

The Aspire One is everything a Small, Cheap, Computer should be. The build quality is excellent, the feature list is not half bad, and it certainly looks and feels the part. Indeed, it's the best-looking SCC we've seen. On the down side, the standard battery is poor and - with the Linux versions at least - getting online using a 3G network isn't straightforward. Of course, the really great thing about the AA1 is that you can tuck it under your arm, go our and feel far less of a tit than if you were carrying a MacBook Air. Worth buying for that alone, if you ask us.

If you want the cheapest 8.9in netbook out there with the second-best keyboard, the Acer Aspire One is currently the one to go for - though the Asus Eee PC 901 offers better value if your budget stretches further. However, if the 120GB HDD, 1GB RAM version of the One becomes available with a six-cell battery, at a price that still undercuts the Eee, Asus will have a serious battle on its hands. The future possibility to upgrade to 3G/HSDPA, if it becomes reality, is also a strong selling point, meaning the Aspire might yet become the One to rule them all.

The Acer Aspire one isn’t the only 8.9-inch mini-notebook on the block, but at $379 it’s a pretty good bargain—if you can live with short battery life. However, prospective buyers may prefer the $399 Windows XP version, which sports a larger 120GB hard drive and 1GB of RAM, Others may prefer the longer endurance of the ASUS Eee PC 901’s six-cell battery and its 1GB of RAM, although its $599 price and cramped keyboard will give some pause. The 8.9-inch HP 2133 Mini-Note PC has a sleeker, more durable design, but the Linux version isn’t nearly as consumer-friendly as what Acer or ASUS offers. In the ever-growing field of mini-notebooks the Aspire one is a decent buy for those on a tight budget looking for a secondary PC for getting online. It’s a better deal than the more expensive 7-inch Eee PC 4G.

70% The Acer Aspire One Netbook Review

Based on our experience with other netbooks to-date, we're understandably quite disappointed with the Aspire One. With most new netbook models' battery performance lasting three hours or upwards, it's quite a let down on Acer's part to say the least. All hope is not lost however, as there have been news floating around the interwebs of a 5200mAH 6-cell battery from Acer (which is not cheap though). It does have some nice things going for it, such as a larger keyboard, which has a pretty good layout for easy typing. While the screen was bright and clear, the extra space at the sides could have been utilized for a much bigger screen. Software performance was just satisfactory, though as we mentioned in our previous page, power users may want to look for alternatives to the default Linpus Linux Lite OS provided if one is still keen on the Aspire One. The operating system provided, while restrictive, does allow for a simple and easy to use experience for the more novice folks through its nice GUI interface. That's not to say the Aspire One is bad as it's just pretty hard to justify getting one when there are other options available on the market.

As for usability, stakes are covered. The keyboard is surprisingly roomy, with no tricky layout problems to work around, beyond the slightly small function keys - not a huge problem. The Touchpad on the other hand is the focus of some frustration, being both tiny and annoy to use for clicking on things thanks to the vertical mouse buttons. A travel mouse is definitely something worth budgeting for. At least you won't need a webcam or microphone, as these are integrated above the screen. The Acer Aspire One is an impressive piece of work. By keeping a close eye on that all-important price, yet hitting all the major areas that need them, it has produced a wonderfully compact companion for the road, or as a roaming PC for the home. Asus better watch out, otherwise it'll lose out big time to this tiny wonder.

You could say that it’s just typical: after waiting more than a decade for an affordable, portable notebook computer, three turn up at once. Acer’s Aspire One is launching alongside the Asus Eee 901 but even in an increasingly crowded market it stands out thanks to its low price. The Aspire One looks smart, is available in white or black, and features a shiny black bezel around the 1,024x600 Pixel display.  Staggeringly good value, with a decent screen and good keyboard.

A few glitches aside such as near-useless track buttons, and no user adjustable screen brightness, the Acer Aspire One is the current pick of the breed. Figure in the curvier styling and shiny colours, and Acer moves to the top of the list, especially at the unmissable price of £199.

If you’ve been hedging your bets when it comes to buying a low-cost laptop along the lines of the Asus Eee PC, you’ve been wise to keep your wallet closed for so long. Asus may have all but created the market for the ‘netbook’, but now other laptop manufacturers are jumping on the bandwagon and the latest is Acer with its Aspire One. All netbooks have so far followed the same ultra-portable laptop design to some extent and the Aspire One certainly doesn’t buck the trend. By far the best netbook we've seen so far and while the battery is a let-down, the rest of the Aspire One more than makes up for it.

To try and differentiate its latest mini-laptop from the current rash of releases, Acer is referring to its Aspire One (£199 inc. VAT) as a 'two-handed internet device'. The idea is that you'll use it for browsing the internet and consuming media instead of using it to create music and movies.  However, what the Aspire One does have going in its favour is the price. While many ultra-portable notebooks are hitting the shelves at £350, this one is only £199. So while the Aspire one won't offer you as much as the HP Mini-Note or MSI Wind, the bargain price may be enough to swing the balance in its favour.

Kommentar

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950: Integrierter (onboard) Grafikchip auf Mobile Intel 945GM Chipsatz und NAchfolger des GMA 900. Kein Hardware T&L (für manche Spiele benötigt). Für Spiele kaum geeignet.

Diese Karten können nur ältere Spiel noch flüssig darstellen. Aktuelle höchstens mit erheblich reduzierten Details und geringer Auflösung. Die integrierten Grafikkarten haben den Vorteil von einem geringem Stromverbrauch (höhere Akkulaufzeit, weniger Abwärme) und sind für Anwendungen wie Office, Internet surfen, Bildbearbeitung, Videoschnitt ohne Einschränkungen geeignet.

8.9": Es handelt sich um ein sehr kleines und seltenes Displayformat für Subnotebooks. Es gibt fast keine kleineren Displays und auch dieses Format ist sehr selten.

Der Vorteil von Subnotebooks liegt darin, dass das ganze Notebook klein dimensioniert sein kann und daher leicht tragbar ist. Das winzige Display hat noch den Vorteil wenig Strom zu benötigen, was die Akkulaufzeit und damit die Mobilität weiter verbessert. Der Nachteil ist, dass das Lesen von Texten sehr anstrengend für die Augen ist. Hohe Auflösungen sind fast nicht nutzbar.

1 kg: Dieses Subnotebook, sofern man es als solches überhaupt bezeichnen kann, gehört zu den leichtesten Notebooks überhaupt und kann klarerweise hervorragend getragen werden. Es gibt kaum Sub-Notebooks in dieser extremen Gewichtsklasse. 7-9 Zoll Displays passen in diesen Gewichtsbereich.

Acer: Acer ist einer der internationalen Hersteller mit den meisten Marktanteilen weltweit und den meisten getesteten Notebook-Modellen im deutsch- und englischsprachigen Raum. Allerdings schafften es in diesen Tests bisher relativ wenige Modelle in Top-Positionen bzgl. Gesamtwertung und Preis/Leistungs-Bewertung.

79.53%: Weltbewegend ist diese Bewertung nicht. Man muss bedenken, dass es kaum Notebooks gibt, die unter 60% erhalten. Dieses Notebook wird von den Testern eigentlich als unterdurchschnittlich angesehen, eine Kaufempfehlung kann man nur mit viel Wohlwollen darin sehen.
