Das Studio 15 ist mit seinem hochauflösenden Display, dem schnellen Prozessor und dem zweiten Kopfhörer-Anschluss für einen gemeinsamen Videogenuss im Multimedia-Bereich gut aufgestellt. Wenn nicht auf die Umgebung Rücksicht genommen werden muss, kann der Klang auch über die Lautsprecher und den Subwoofer ertönen. Für lange Videoabende ist mit dem starken 9-Zellen-Akku jedenfalls gesorgt.

Die Tastatur fühlt sich sehr gut an, nun bin ich auch kein vielschreiber aber sie hat nen schönen weichen Druckpunkt. Das Touchpad bildet eine einheit mit dem Gehäuse und ist vom Anfassen her schön zu bedienen. Sehr schön ist auch, sobald eine Maus per USB oder Bluetooth angeschlossen wird schaltet sich das Touchpad aus. Kleines Highlite ist natürlich die Beleuchtung der Tastatur die das bedienen in der Dunkelheit natürlich ungemein erleichtert. (Und man kann schön auf dicke Hose machen damit). Es ist mein erstes DELL Notebook und ich muss sagen Top verarbeitung, Top Qualität super Nette Telefon und Chat kontakte. Mein nächstes Notebook als Desktopersatz wird auch ein Dell werden.

Mit dem Kauf dieses schicken, individuellen Notebooks verhilft der Käufer zu einer Spende für den Kampf gegen Aids. Dafür erhält er ein gutes Multimedianotebook mit sehr gutem Display, schneller Festplatte und guter Anwendungsleistung. Für Gamer kommt der Studio 15 jedoch nicht in Frage. Nach einfachen Multimediaanwendungen und detailarmen Spielen ist es mit der Grafikleistung auch schon wieder vorbei.

Mit Leichtigkeit rutscht auch der Dell Studio 15 in einen guten Wertungsbereich. Preislich im Mittelfeld angesiedelt erfüllt er die Multimedia-Wünsche der Benutzer. Zwar schnitt der 17-Zoll-Bruder besser ab, schlägt aber mit 200 Euro tiefer in den Geldbeutel ein. Die Verarbeitung gibt sich im Wesentlichen gut. Zwar gibt die Tastatur schon bei leichtem Druck nach, für kurze Schreibarbeiten ist sie jedoch zu haben. Display- und Scharnierverarbeitung hingegen lassen bis auf die schwergängige Art keine Negativpunkte zu.

Mit der Studio Serie ist es Dell überaus gut gelungen, die Lücke zwischen den Inspiron Modellen und der XPS Serie zu schließen. Die Studio Serie bietet passable Multimedia Performance zum interessanten Einstiegspreis. Im Falle des Studio 15 reicht diese jedoch nur für moderate Multimediaverwendung, speziell bei Games geht der für das Modell aktuell leistungsstärksten verfügbaren Grafikkarte, der ATI Radeon HD3450, schnell die Puste aus. Punkten kann das Dell Studio 15 vor allem mit seinem schicken Gehäuse, welches neben attraktiver Linienführung auch aufgrund seiner Möglichkeit zur individuellen Gestaltung schnell Freunde finden wird. Auch hinsichtlich Stabilität geht das Chassis durchaus in Ordnung.

Without the 1,440 x 900 it's a very good, but not quite outstanding, 15.4 inch notebook that has a strong but not dazzling design - not at least till you opt for the Mike Ming lid designs - and standard feature sets and pricing that are competitive but not outrageously so. With the 1,440 x 900 WLED display, however, you have a different proposition entirely. It's a feature that few can offer and given you can have it and not sacrifice too much in terms of specification or price over competing models, it helps elevate the Studio 15 to an award.

At the end of the day the Studio 15 is a solid offering in the 15-inch consumer notebook category. The build quality, range of customizable options, expandability, style, and price make this an excellent choice if you're in the market for a 15-inch notebook. Still, we would have liked to see more graphics card options than just the integrated Intel X3100 and dedicated ATI Radeon HD 3450. Issues like lack of VGA cable screw posts, dedicated docking station connector, or lack of a simple RAM expansion cover are minor, and many experienced users may find the all-in-one access panel on the bottom of the notebook to be extremely helpful. The pre-configured model we tested suffered from weak integrated graphics that ruined an otherwise enjoyable experience, but configurations with dedicated graphics are available from Dell.com.

It's been easier lately, with the company stripping down its consumer brands to just the Inspiron and XPS lines. Now the company is adding a new line between the budget Inspiron and the high-end XPS. The new Studio line, as personified by the 15.4-inch Studio 15, has the same tapered shape, slot-loading optical drive and rounded hinge as the Dell XPS M1530, but a similarly configured Studio system costs roughly £350 less than a similarly outfitted XPS. Dell's first release from its new Studio line, the Studio 15, sits between the Inspiron and XPS lines and offers a good mix of features for the price, but we'd be tempted to save up a few extra pounds for a thinner, lighter XPS.

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450: Nachfolger der HD 2400 Grafikkarte und dank 55nm Prozess wahrscheinlich schneller getaktet und daher mit geringfügig besserer Leistung. Für anspruchslose Gelegenheitsspieler wahrscheinlich geeignet. Unterstützt DirectX 10.1 Effekte (jedoch ist die Karte dafür zu langsam) und Avivo Videofunktionen (zur Entlastung der CPU z.B. bei HD Videos).

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders die DirectX 10 fähigen Vertreter (9300M, HD 3400) sind nicht in der Lage ihre DirectX 10 Effekte (bei hohen Details) flüssig darzustellen.

76.36%: Weltbewegend ist diese Bewertung nicht. Man muss bedenken, dass es kaum Notebooks gibt, die unter 60% erhalten. Dieses Notebook wird von den Testern eigentlich als unterdurchschnittlich angesehen, eine Kaufempfehlung kann man nur mit viel Wohlwollen darin sehen. Verbalbewertungen in diesem Bereich klingen oft nicht schlecht, sind aber oft verklausulierte Euphemismen.
