EN→DE Archive.org versionOtherwise, the Omen X 2S is an awesome companion for anyone that wants high-speed gaming in a machine that looks great, feels great, and has enough power to stand up to AAA games for years to come. It’s pricey at $2,500—and with gaming laptops you’re stuck with this GPU until you buy a whole other machine—but this shouldn’t be a laptop you’re itching to replace in a year or two.

EN→DE Archive.org versionHP's unique Omen X 2S has a 15.6-inch main screen and a 6-inch adjunct screen for in-game communications, social-media peeks, and more. A sturdy build, Nvidia G-Sync support, hushed fans, and surprising pricing make it a great pick for a top-line gaming laptop.

EN→DE Archive.org versionOverall, if you've got the budget, the HP Omen X 2S exudes style and backs it up with outstanding performance. HP engineers did a remarkable job cramming so much performance and dual displays into a chassis that's under an inch thin and weighs under 5.5lbs. There's also a lot of attention to the hidden details, like the Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut thermal compound and SSD thermal pad, that we appreciate. Regardless of our opinion of the second screen implementation, this is an excellent gaming notebook that delivers on multiple fronts.

EN→DE Archive.org versionHP took power and style into consideration with the Omen X 2S, which is great, but this machine still has a few key flaws. Its second display is frustrating to use properly, the speakers sound distorted, and the display is too dull for the price.

EN→DE Archive.org versionThe Omen X 2S has three primary distinguishing features: a 6-inch 1080p touchscreen above the keyboard and a new Performance mode option that optimizes power allocation to the CPU and GPU based on the demands of the game (or whatever software you're running). The third? It's just an all-around likable enthusiast gaming laptop.

EN→DE Archive.org versionBased on the concepts we're seeing from ASUS and Intel, I'm convinced the future of laptops is dual-screened. We've finally reached the point where juggling multiple displays on your laptop could actually make you more productive. But as usual, it's not a good idea to jump into the first wave of any new technology. The Omen X 2S is an admirable effort from HP, but it feels like the company is still trying to get the hang of things. There's clearly room to fit in a larger and wider display -- maybe next year HP can actually figure out how to make that happen.
