Lenovo selbst bewirbt das 16 Zoll große ThinkBook als "Leistungsstarkes Kreativitätswerkzeug" und "Business-Notebook", immerhin liegen die Ursprünge der ThinkBook-Reihe im Office-Bereich. Mit einer RTX 3060 und einem leistungsstarke Ryzen-Prozessor drängt die Reihe aber auch in den Gamerbereich vor. Ist das Gerät somit ein flexibler Geheimtipp für Gamer und Creators gleichermaßen?

The Lenovo ThinkBook 16p Gen 2 is a huge improvement over the ThinkBook 15p we reviewed a year ago. This 16” laptop for creators has some of the most popular current features like a 16:10 aspect ratio QHD+ display, AMD Ryzen 5 and 7 H series 45 watt processors and NVIDIA RTX 3060 dedicated graphics. The subtly two-tone lid and body are aluminum, the laptop has both a fingerprint scanner and IR Windows Hello camera and it typically ships with 16GB RAM and a 512GB or 1TB SSD. With the same horsepower as an entry level Lenovo Legion, it’s got some game too. This model was released in the late fall of 2021, and will likely be refreshed mid-2022 when the new Ryzen platform is available.

EN→DEIf this is how the future looks like, then we are really excited about it. Lenovo managed to combine the power of a gaming notebook, the style of a business device, and the versatility of a content creator machine into one sleek laptop. And it did it successfully. We saw a very good performance from the hardware we had on hand, with the only hiccup being the high temperature of the CPU after long periods of stress. But arguably the best feature in this regard is the MUX switch. It allows you to toggle between switchable graphics, and direct connection to the dedicated GPU, ensuring you take advantage of the full horsepower this laptop provides. Lenovo ThinkBook 16p Gen 2’s IPS panel (MNG007DA1-4 (LEN8A97)) has a high resolution, 16:10 aspect ratio, wide viewing angles, and a very good contrast ratio. Thankfully, it doesn’t use PWM for brightness adjustment. What is even more appealing for professionals, is the fact that it has a color accuracy that matches the sRGB standard with the help of our Gaming and Web design profile.

At the same time, while performance was solid and battery life was better than you’ll find in some other 16-inch laptops, build quality wasn’t up to par given the high starting price of $2,359. Spend this much money, and you can get a Dell XPS 15 that’s roughly as fast, built much better, and has a significantly better display. In evaluating the ThinkBook 16p as a suitable machine for SMB users, I end up being unconvinced this has any serious advantages. There really isn’t that much there that you won’t find on some other mainstream laptops aimed at consumers, and the build doesn’t live up to the price tag.

We have nothing to moan about the input devices. The spill-resistant keyboard has a backlight and a NumPad. The board is comfortable for usage thanks to the long key travel and the clicky feedback. The wide touchpad is smooth and accurate.

Lenovo („Le“ vom englischen legend, novo (Latein) für neu) wurde 1984 als chinesische Computerhandelsfirma gegründet. Ab 2004 war die Firma der größte Laptop-Hersteller Chinas und nach der Übernahme der PC-Sparte von IBM im Jahr 2005 der viertgrößte weltweit. Neben Desktops und Notebooks stellt das Unternehmen Monitore, Beamer, Server etc her und hat sich auf die Entwicklung, Herstellung und Vermarktung von Unterhaltungselektronik, Personalcomputern, Software, Unternehmenslösungen und damit verbundenen Dienstleistungen spezialisiert.
Im Jahr 2016 belegte das Unternehmen weltweit den ersten Platz bei den Computerverkäufen. Auch 2023 hatte es ihn noch inne bei ca 23% Weltmarktanteil. Wichtige Produktreihen sind Thinkpad, Legion und Ideapad.
2011 wurde die Mehrheit der Medion AG übernommen, einem europäischen Computer-Hardware-Hersteller. 2014 wurde Motorola Mobility gekauft, wodurch Lenovo einen Schub am Smartphone-Markt erreichte.

16.00: Dieser Bereich für Displayformate war und ist eine Seltenheit. Es ist größer als der allgemeine Standard von 15 Zoll, aber noch nicht im Bereich der großen Workstations. Man hat üblicherweise höhere Bildschirmauflösungen zur Verfügung, darunter leidet aber auch die Portabilität.
