Workstation in 15-Zoll. Auf der Suche nach leistungsfähigen Laptops für den Businessbereich landet man früher oder später auch bei Lenovos Thinkpad W Modellen an. Auch diese wurden mit dem Thinkpad W510 auf den neuesten Stand der Technik gebracht. Im Detail wenden wir uns nun einem W510 Modell mit Intel Core i7 820QM Prozessor, Nvidia Quadro FX 880M Grafikkarte und vier Gigabyte Hauptspeicher zu.

Auch diese wurden mit dem Thinkpad W510 auf den neuesten Stand der Technik gebracht. Zusammenfassend komme ich zu dem Entschluss mit dem W510 eines der stärksten 15 Zoll Notebooks auf dem Markt in Händen zu halten. Egal wie sehr ich versuche es zu stressen, ich bekomme nicht mehr als ein genervtes Schnaufen des Lüfters aus dem Gerät. Besonders gut gefallen mir die ThinkPad-spezifischen Erweiterungsmöglichkeiten, allen voran die Akkus und 4 RAM Slots.

Overall, the Lenovo Thinkpad W510 is a compromise. Packing workstation-class components into a 15-inch class chassis results in a system with overall solid CPU performance and reasonably good graphics performance, all built into a sturdy, if somewhat heavy, chassis. The addition of features like colour calibration and USB 3.0 are a plus, but those are mitigated by other limitations, such as the lack of Blu-ray burner. It's not inexpensive, either. In the end, the Lenovo Thinkpad W510 offers an excellent alternative for workstation users on the go who are looking for overall good performance and are willing to live with its minor shortcomings.
