It's such a shame that the Samsung can't squeeze a bit more speed from its processor or more life out of its battery, as it is a rather nice laptop. The backlit keyboard and non-reflective screen make it very easy to use in all kinds of environments. We especially like the ports at the side which can be hidden away when not in use.

If you’re not in this group, you still might appreciate the power and weight combination on offer here. I was extremely sceptical of the Series 9 concept to begin with, as I am wary of all “look-at-me!” designs. But by the end of the review period, it made perfect sense. It's a nice machine to use.

Much like the 13in version, the 15in version of the Series 9 is a little marvel. The thin profile and relatively light weight make it feel like a much smaller laptop than it is, and it's easy to carry to and from the office on a regular basis. It's stylish, it's quite comfortable to use, it runs quietly, and its performance is good for most typical office software, and even media-centric tasks.

Samsung: Die Samsung Group ist der größte südkoreanische Mischkonzern und wurde 1938 gegründet. In der Samsung-Gruppe waren 2014 489.000 Menschen beschäftigt, und sie gehört zu den weltweit größten Unternehmen gemessen an Umsatz und Marktstärke. Der Name Samsung bedeutet im Koreanischen "Drei Sterne" und repräsentiert die drei Söhne des Firmengründers. Das Unternehmen wurde 1938 als Lebensmittelladen gegründet. Mit der 1969 gegründeten Tochter Samsung Electronics nahm Samsung die Fertigung elektrotechnischer Artikel in Angriff, wobei man sich frühzeitig auf Unterhaltungselektronik und Haushaltsgeräte konzentrierte. Weitere Zweige, in denen der Großkonzern tätig ist, sind Maschinenbau, Automobile (Hyundai), Versicherung, Großhandel, Immobilien und Freizeit. Diese Karten können nur sehr alte und sehr anspruchslose 3D Spiele flüssig darstellen. Anwendungen wie Office, Internet surfen, Bildbearbeitung oder (SD) Videoschnitt sind jedoch ohne große Einschränkungen möglich.
Intel HD Graphics 3000: In Sandy Bridge Prozessoren (Core ix-2xxx) integrierte Grafikkarte von Intel. Stärkere GT2 genannte Version mit 12 Execution Units (EUs). Je nach Modell mit unterschiedlichen Taktraten (350-650MHz) und TurboBoost Unterstützung (900-1350MHz).
Einige nicht anspruchsvolle aktuelle Spiele können mit geringen Details noch flüssig gespielt werden. Für Office und Video natürlich ausreichende Leistungsreserven.
Intel HD Graphics 4000: In Ivy Bridge Prozessoren (3. Generation Core) integrierte Grafikkarte in höchster Ausbaustufe. Je nach Prozessor (ULV bis Desktop Quad-Core) unterschiedlich getaktet.

15 Zoll Display-Varianten sind der Standard und werden für mehr als die Hälfte aller Notebooks verwendet.
Der Grund der Beliebtheit mittelgrosser Displays ist, dass diese Größe einigermaßen augenschonend ist, hohe Auflösungen oftmals erlaubt und damit Detailreichtum am Bildschirm bietet und dennoch nicht allzu viel Strom verbraucht und die Geräte noch halbwegs kompakt sein können - also schlicht der Standard-Kompromiss.
