EN→DEWith the price of Rs. 1,49,999, the Vivo X Fold 5 is an expensive offering, even though it is actually lower priced than the X Fold 3 Pro, which was launched at Rs 1,59,999. There will be some muttering about its processor, but the phone does bring quite a lot to the table. It has a really premium, slim design that holds a massive battery– the best we have seen on a foldable phone so far, and its cameras are up there with the best that we have seen on foldables. Top that with gorgeous displays and impressive performance, and you get a device that basically ticks all boxes quite well. It has not got Android 16, the UI in general needs to be a bit more refined, and the selfie cameras are not the greatest, but it still stands tall and is a great offering for anyone who is looking to add a capable foldable to their arsenal.

EN→DEThe Vivo X Fold5 gets a lot right in terms of design. It’s thinner, lighter, and more durable than most of its competitors, making it one of the most travel-friendly foldables on the market. But for a phone that costs Rs 1.5 lakh, the grip and finish should’ve been just as polished as the hardware underneath. If Vivo can pair this impressive engineering with a more tactile, fingerprint-resistant design next time, it might just have the most complete foldable in the game. While this article focuses solely on the foldable’s design, you can read about every other aspect in our detailed review. Also, I wrote a separate piece on Origin Workbench and why I believe it is one of the best productivity-centric features in a foldable. With the X Fold5, Vivo is signalling that it’s not just experimenting anymore; it wants to be taken seriously in the premium foldable race.

EN→DEThe vivo X Fold5 is a well built, premium flagship foldable with excellent battery life, delightfully vibrant and crisp cover and main displays as well as a solid rear ZEISS camera setup. If cash is no object and you’re looking for a premium flagship foldable option beyond the usual contenders, this is worth a look.

EN→DEThe Vivo X Fold 5 stands out as a strong contender in the foldable market, particularly for users who have been hesitant to switch due to common foldable issues. It's a device that genuinely solves the core problems of fragility and bulk that plague the foldable market. It is worth it for users who prioritise a durable, thin, and long-lasting foldable with polished software. However, if having the absolute best camera or the latest processor is your top priority, you might want to consider other options. Vivo has brought its A-game to the foldable phone party and while there is no word, all eyes will be on where it goes from here. Samsung, better watch out.

EN→DESo, should you buy this foldable phone? The vivo X Fold5 is a… weird phone. While I do believe vivo has some unique features with the software, they didn’t actually do enough. It’s still pretty barebones for a foldable device. The hardware is alright, but I’m still unsure why vivo chose the 8 Gen 3 instead of the 8 Elite or even the Dimensity 9400. Either of those chipsets would’ve been better than the 8 Gen 3. But what I’m concerned about is the price. At RM6,999 it’s a big yikes of a price. Yes, the vivo X Fold5 comes with 512GB storage at that price, but the storage is the least of my concern in this case.

EN→DERetailing at S$2,499, the Vivo X Fold 5 is competitively priced, though a bit more expensive than the Honor Magic V5, while still cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. However, it However, it seems Vivo recognizes this, and has a competitive pre-order price of S$2,199 with a bunch of free gifts that ends on Aug 7. I do want to point out that you're not getting the latest processor, though the rest of the hardware appears to be current. I'm still testing the phone, so expect our full review really soon.

EN→DEFoldable phones have made significant strides over the years. The Vivo X Fold5 is no exception, despite its flaws. Whether it’s a sensible purchase depends on your priorities in premium purchases. There are some downsides we didn’t enjoy. For example, it has an older processor despite its prohibitively high S$2,499 price. It also has a curved design that’s not quite as sleek and fresh. We also found it unacceptable that a premium device has ads. But, we do understand some users are hardly bothered by those shortcomings. Vivo X Fold5 still does a great job of providing great performance alongside its useful software features. Origin Workbench is probably one of the features we we enjoyed the most, since it gave meaning to the inner display beyond having something big to look at. Multitaskers and app switchers will find it game-changing.

EN→DEThe vivo X Fold5 is one of the most compact and elegant book-style foldables we've seen to date, and that alone is a major accomplishment. At just 4.3 mm thick when unfolded and weighing only 217 g, it's both thinner and lighter than many slab phones, yet it manages to pack a massive 6,000 mAh battery, a large 8.03-inch inner display, and a complete camera system. The engineering that went into this phone is nothing short of remarkable. We were particularly impressed with the X Fold5's displays - both the inner and cover panels offer excellent brightness, color accuracy, and high refresh rates with great adaptive behavior thanks to LTPO technology. Battery life is also stellar, solidifying the X Fold5's position among the most long-lasting foldables to date.

EN→DEAt Rs 1,49,999, the vivo X Fold 5 — the phone has a single Titanium Gray variant in India with 16GB RAM + 512GB storage — is one of the best foldable options available at the moment. The foldables are maturing as a segment, and the X Fold 5 shows that now it can be trusted as a business phone that is not cutting any corners to make the form factor viable. For work, this form factor is emerging as the new BlackBerry.

EN→DEThe X Fold 5 isn't too different to its predecessor, and that's a good thing. You still get one of the thinnest and lightest foldables around, and it feels like a regular phone while using the outer panel. The inner 8.03-inch panel is among the best around, and it has the best battery life of any foldable I used. You also get class-leading ingress protection, fantastic cameras, and all the extras you want. It lags behind on the software front as it isn't debuting with Android 16, and it misses out on Qualcomm's latest silicon. However, the omissions don't detract from the overall experience, and the X Fold 5 is my pick if you need a foldable in 2025.

EN→DEThe Vivo X Fold 5 is one of the most refined foldable smartphones on the market today. It strikes an impressive balance between sleek design, reliable performance, and meaningful usability. The slim profile and lightweight build make it feel far less bulky than most book-style foldables, while still packing a massive 6000mAh battery – something even many slab-style flagships cannot match. Add to that a highly capable camera system, especially the telephoto portrait performance, and you have a foldable that genuinely delivers across the board. However, it is not a perfect package. While the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 offers more than enough power for daily use and gaming, Vivo could have truly gone all-in by including the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite to future-proof this flagship.

EN→DEIn conclusion, the Vivo X Fold 5 stands out with its premium, sleek design and lightweight build, making it comfortable to hold and easy to carry. The sharp, vibrant display enhances the viewing experience, while the bright main screen ensures comfortable content consumption even in bright environments. Performance felt solid during my brief hands-on time with the device, and the cameras are reportedly a major step up from the previous generation. In the foldable space, its main competitors include the newly launched Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the older Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Stay tuned to our full review to find out if the new Vivo X Fold 5 is a good upgrade over its predecessor and whether you should consider it over its competition.

The Vivo X Fold 5 isn't the strongest for gaming, thanks to its older Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset - vs the Elite in that Z Fold 7. However, this foldable can still capably play Wuthering Waves and Genshin Impact. Battery life is among the very best, thanks to the 6000mAh silicon cell, while FunTouch OS is actually decent for multi-tasking on that massive 8-inch screen. It's also the Zeiss branded camera tech that helps to set the Vivo X Fold 5 apart from some rivals. This does falter for portrait shots and night video, but otherwise performs above and beyond for a folding phone. I'm still testing the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, so more on that later!

Vivo has been on a roll lately with one excellent flagship device after another, can the Vivo X Fold 5 continue the trend? I gotta say, I was a bit disappointed at not getting a X Fold 5 Pro this year, but the X Fold 5 still has plenty to like. Weighing just 217g, this is also the lightest large foldable yet. The X Fold 5 also brings back a camera system very similar to last year's X Fold 3 Pro, which means this camera should still be among the very best in foldable segment.

EN→DEThe appearance design of vivo X Fold5 can be expressed in the four words "lighter and stronger". The simple design and comfortable grip feel will surely make you love it. In addition, the excellent image performance and ultra-efficient interaction can also make vivo X Fold5 a light office artifact. If you want to switch from the Apple ecosystem to the Android camp, this vivo X Fold5, which supports connecting to Apple Watches, headphones and other devices, and can also receive information from the iPhone, may be the best "Apple partner" at present. Of course, if you simply want to change to a folding screen flagship, vivo X Fold5 is believed to satisfy you.
