The Note 12 Pro lacks the wow factor of the Pro+, but it’s arguably even better value for money. If you can live without a 200Mp camera and 120W charging, this is the Redmi Note 12 phone to get. It retains the gorgeous 120Hz OLED screen, capable MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset, and solid 5000mAh battery, plus an excellent selfie camera. Dropping down to a 50Mp main camera doesn’t feel like much of a compromise, and the 67W charging is still fast compared to the competition. MIUI remains the single biggest reason not to buy it, especially when many rivals have a more polished software experience. Internal storage is also limited, so your money may be better spent elsewhere.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G’s global score was among the best of our database. It had a very similar performance to its predecessor the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G, showing a slight improvement in the charging experience but a little decline in autonomy when testing individual use cases and on the go. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G’s charge lasted a good 2.5 days when the device was used moderately, with only 1% drop per night on average. When testing individual use cases, the autonomy was slightly above average with good performances when gaming but a poor experience when calling. The autonomy on the go was a bit balanced with decent results when using social apps, and the camera, but low when using the camera or calling. The 67W charger filled up the battery in only 57 minutes, faster than the average of our database. The device also recovered a very good 6 hours and 29 minutes of autonomy after a quick 5-minute charge. Charge efficiency was very good thanks to the adapter’s excellent efficiency and a very low residual power drain whether the fully charged device was plugged in or not. For a large 5000 mAh battery, the device’s discharge currents were average in almost all use cases, except when using the camera or calling, where consumption was high. But discharge currents during idle phases were really good, meaning that the device is quite well but not perfectly optimized. When compared with other devices from the Advanced price range ($200 – $399), the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G ranked in the upper part of our database thanks to an excellent charging experience and a decent efficiency. However its autonomy score was slightly below average for this segment.

So that was all for my review of the new Redmi Note 12 Pro. This is—without a doubt—one of the most feature-packed, most balanced midrange phones I’ve tested all year. Everything from its gorgeous 120Hz OLED display, powerful Dimensity 1080 chip, decent cameras, and great battery life really sets the bar for just how good midrange phones in 2023 should be. And I can’t wait to see how the competition reacts to the Redmi Note 12 Pro! What’s even more impressive about this phone is that Xiaomi itself has made your buying decision easier by sacrificing so little from the 12 Pro+ to maintain a more pocket-friendly price.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro is a solid offer, one that brings a lot of meaningful updates over the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G. The new model offers one of the best OLED screens in this price bracket - it's quite bright, offers more than a billion colors, and supports Dolby Vision. The new Dimensity 1080 chipset isn't a major update over the Dimensity 920 from last year, but it still provides enough punch and offers smooth and stable gaming. The camera experience and quality are consistently good across the board and we have no complains whatsoever. The things that weren't perfect on the Note 12 Pro are the average standby performance that affected the battery life, the retired microSD slot, and the lack of electronic stabilization for the 4K video capturing. The older Android 12 is somewhat a bummer, too, as the promise of two major OS updates now seems even less enticing. Still, the Redmi Note 12 Pro is a very well-geared smartphone for its starting price of €380 for its limited 6/128 version and €400 for the mainstream 8/128 model. And that's why we do recommend the Redmi Note 12 Pro, even more so than the 12 Pro+. But our advice for you is to explore the competition first, as it's quite attractive, too.

Comparing Xiaomi's Redmi Note 12 5G vs the Redmi Note 12 Pro and Pro Plus, to see how the camera, gaming, battery tech and other specs stack up. Which mid-range Xiaomi smartphone is best for you, and is the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus 5G worth that extra cash? Here in the UK these mid-range phones are priced at £279, £339 and £449. Check out my unboxing and review of the Pro Plus for more thoughts! I'll also be updating my round-up of the best mid-range mobiles soon for 2023. Starting with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 5G, this feels like a very different phone to the others. Performance is more limited with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1, although gaming is still possible, while the 48MP camera is rather basic. Apart from the AMOLED screen, there's not much to raise it above other budget phones, and expandable storage (plus the brighter display) is its major advantage in this comparison. The Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus and the Pro share more DNA, with a glass design, Dolby Vision display, stereo speakers and Dimensity 1080 gaming chops. However, the Plus edition serves up a 200MP HPX camera sensor, while the regular Pro offers Sony's IMX766. That's still a great shooter, although not quite as good in low light. So which Redmi Note 12 phone are you most tempted by?

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G looks to fix some of the big complaints with its predecessor, especially in the camera department, while still offering a high-quality display experience, a stylish design and the promise of long battery life from a 5000mAh cell. I’m not quite ready to deliver my full verdict just yet, but as long as you can overlook Xiaomi’s take on Android, the Note 12 Pro 5G could be a tempting cheap option.

All told, that’s a lot of similarities between the 12 Pro and the Plus: the display, processor, battery capacity and camera suite (excluding the main lens) are all identical, and I’m not particularly thrilled with the redesign for either one, so that’s a draw too. The Plus does have the edge with fast charging and that 200MP main camera, but the Pro shows enough promise in both areas to keep it in the fight. A release date hasn't been set at the time of writing, but you’ll be able to pick your side when the Note 12 Pro and Pro Plus eventually hit shelves. The 12 Pro will start at £339, which gets you the 6GB/128GB model, though there's no word yet on how much the 8GB/256GB model will be, or if it's coming to the UK at all. We’ll have reviews of both the Xiaomi Redmi 12 Pro and the 12 Pro Plus in the near future, so check back in soon to see our final verdicts.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro is a nice looking phone and packs good specs for the price. Be it the powerful Dimensity 1080 chip or the super smooth 120Hz AMOLED display, everything is impressive. The battery easily lasts a whole day and the 67W fast charger is a great add-on. Moreover, you get 5G connectivity and NFC support. Being sleek and lightweight, there’s a lot of packed inside the phone. The 50MP main camera does a decent job of taking pictures. It’s not the best in photography but I can’t complain when it is clearly focusing on performance. Overall, the Redmi Note 12 Pro is a solid 5G smartphone for someone who wants powerful performance with a great display. In case you want a better camera and faster charging speeds, you can check out its bigger brother, the Note 12 Pro Plus. Other than that, the Note 12 Pro got everything a mid-range phone should have.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed edition is a great add-on in the Note 12 series, while at the same time, you are getting almost similar features as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro+. Apart from this, the chipset is slightly older, but still the price point, you are getting a value-for-money deal. It brings an impressive display, good performance power, beautiful camera quality, and more. But, you will find alternative options in the market as well. If you are looking for an alternative option the Realme 10 Pro Plus that will provide impressive specs and features. But if you are looking for a clean UI experience, we would suggest you go with the Motorola G82 5G. Although, it got lower performance, but got near to the stock android experience. We have presented different options too, so choose the best phone according to your needs.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G is a good-looking smartphone with pretty decent specs and features. The starting price of Rs. 24,999 is not bad, but keep in mind that for a few thousand Rupees more, you can get the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G (Review) which starts at Rs. 29,999. This phone offers quicker charging, a higher-resolution primary camera, and more storage. However, the Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G should not be ignored as for still offers most of the features and specs of the plus model, but at a more affordable price.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro is a downgraded version of the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus, but due to the fact there are lots of similarities in specifications, you don’t miss out on some of the basic features. However, there’s no doubt the Redmi Note 12 Pro smartphone does have cut some corners. But even then, this phone is one of the best smartphones in the mid-range segment that got everything correct from specs to features. On the other hand, if you are willing to spend a bit more, there’s Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus version is available for you. But if you are spending that much, we would suggest going with Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Explorer edition that got additional faster charging support. Though this edition is currently exclusive to China, still it’s overall a great deal over the Pro+ version. Finally, if you are looking for a value-for-money deal, choosing Redmi Note 12 Pro is still an outstanding choice.
