EN→DEBut you're not buying a phone that you'll be staring at all day every day. You're buying a pone that you can toss in your backpack and leave on a picnic table so that you can stay in touch when you need to, and otherwise go chill by the campfire. That's perfectly okay. If you want the most powerful phone you can buy, you have options. If you want a conversation starter, like a foldable, you have some great options now. But if all you want is a phone that lasts for your weeklong camping trip to the boundary waters, this is the phone you should buy. The price is currently $419 on Oukitel's website, or $499 on Amazon. If you are a camper, or someone who uses their phone sparingly and does not mind carrying it around in a bag, purse, or literally anywhere other than your pocket, this isn't a bad pickup.

EN→DEThis one is a bit tricky, but like most of the Oukitel phones, I can say this: If you need the most rugged phone on the market (that won't cost you thousands of dollars), then Oukitel is your brand. If you need a phone that includes a modular smartwatch (and you don't care about brand recognition) and regularly need an earpiece or a stupid-bright LED, then the WP300 is the phone for you. The might be a heavy beast of a device, but that's part of its charm. It's big, beefy, and rugged as a lumberjack. At the moment, the WP300 is still on Kickstarter, but like all of Oukitel's devices, it will be available on Amazon very soon.

EN→DEEarlier this year Oukitel launched a rugged smartphone with a small, detachable screen on the back that you could pop out and snap into a watch band to wear as a watch or add to a clip for use as a Bluetooth earbud. Now Oukitel is doubling down on the concept with a new phone that features a bigger battery and a modular feature that lets you choose whether that small detachable screen fits into the back of the phone or if you’ll use it for a super-bright flashlight. The Oukitel WP300 is up for pre-order for $399 and up during a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign. It’s expected to sell for $600 after crowdfunding.

EN→DEThe WP300 is the answer to the question, what would the WP200 Pro be like with a bigger battery, for the most part. By slightly reducing the SoC performance, the battery life gets a backdoor boost making it look even better. The downside of these choices is less performance, but it’s also less portable. Now with documentation and a configuration app, the watch module is much more usable, even if it doesn’t fit my wrist in watch mode. For those not interested in the watch feature, there are cheaper devices around with similar performance and battery capacity. However, most of them suffer from being over 500g, making them not ideal for those moving on foot and carrying equipment. If the WP300 had a vehicle cradle, it might be more attractive for those who work outdoors, and I hope that Oukitel develop this series in that way. Typically for this maker, the WP300 offers plenty of phone for the asking price. But that’s only if you don’t own a watch already and want one for this form factor.

EN→DEOf course, all crowdfunders carry an element of risk, but Oukitel is an established company rather than a startup or garage project, and judging by our production-level review unit, we'd say it's a pretty safe bet that these things will be released into the wild. If all goes according to plan, shipping is estimated to start from July. I had a lot of fun with this brick of a rugged phone and its modules, despite it being pitched as a serious work phone, so it's an easy recommend. I just need to don my military workwear more often so I have pockets large enough to house it when on the move.

EN→DEI have a thing for phones with long battery life, and I always keep a rugged phone with crazy battery life as my backup when I travel or go on long outdoor adventures. The nice thing about Oukitel WP300 is that it is very affordable and can be a great second phone for work – whether you’re a delivery person, work in construction, or just someone who needs a device that can take a beating and last for days. It’s also ideal for going camping or living/working in an area where you need the extra protection this phone provides. The cherry on top is the modularity and the fact that you can attach a watch (which doubles as an earpiece) and a powerful camping light when you are outdoors. However, Oukitel WP300 isn’t for everyone. If you want the absolute best performance for high-end gaming or the most amazing camera system, this isn’t it.
