EN→DELast year, we said it didn’t matter if the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ were boring, as long as they were good. That has changed. Samsung has seen fit to raise prices on these phones with no obvious improvement to their predecessor. This does a disservice to an otherwise excellent and stable Galaxy S series, because it makes it hard for us to tell people why they should buy a Galaxy S26 or S26+ over the previous models. Yes, this year’s phones are very good, if not one of the best options for flagship phones, but we also have to be prudent and judicious when recommending new and shiny things to people. The change to Samsung’s own processor did not yield extraordinary gains over established flagship chips like the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 or the MediaTek Dimensity 9500. This also hurts the two phones’ value proposition when the obvious mass market details like displays, cameras, and battery uptimes are largely similar year-on-year.

EN→DEYour phone needs to work for you, not someone else, so be sure to pick a model that suits your needs: If you want the Galaxy with the most storage, only the Galaxy S26 Ultra offers up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. If you want a smaller, more pocketable phone, the Galaxy S26 is the way to go. If you want a big phone but don’t care about the S Pen, the Galaxy S26+ could be for you. As always, your budget and network availability should inform your decision-making. Apart from the camera and the option for more storage offered by the Ultra, the three phones perform nearly the same across the board. In other words, you really can't go wrong.

EN→DEWhile many people choose their phone based on the operating system or broader ecosystem, some choose based on hardware features. However, consider the following when choosing: If you have an older device like a Samsung Galaxy S20 or iPhone 13, any of these devices will be a terrific upgrade. If you want the most storage possible, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is the only phone that comes with 2TB. If the Privacy Display wows you, only the S26 Ultra has it. If battery life is paramount, the iPhones outlast the Galaxy phones by 9 or more hours.

EN→DEThere's a lot to consider here. Each family of devices has its pros and cons. Even more confusing, the individual selections within the Pixel 10 lineup and Galaxy S26 family compete with one another. If you love multitasking or want your phone to double as a full computer, the Galaxy S26 is the way to go. If you want every new Android feature—including AI—as soon as possible, pick a Pixel. If you love magnetic charging, the Pixel 10 series has it. You’d need a case for the S26 series for the same function. If you love funky new tech, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is the only phone with a built-in Privacy Display.

EN→DEI don’t think either the Galaxy S26 or the S26 Plus is particularly impressive. These are effectively the same phones as last year, which were the same phones as the year before that, and so on. However, while we can usually recommend both the base and Plus models for committed Samsung fans, I don’t think that’s true with the S26 series. If you like Samsung phones and desperately need an upgrade, the base model Galaxy S26 is a fine choice. It has the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip as the other two more expensive S26 models, the same cameras as the S26 Plus, and comes in a much more comfortable, pocketable form factor than its two larger siblings. As you might have heard, the S26 is more expensive this year, but it also comes with double the storage — 256GB instead of 128GB. That’s $100 more than the 128GB Galaxy S25 and $40 more expensive than the 256GB version. It’s not ideal, but it could have been a lot worse. It could have been like the Galaxy S26 Plus. Samsung’s Plus model has always been the awkward middle child of the Galaxy S family, and this year, it simply doesn’t make any sense at all. There’s no storage upgrade like the S26 benefits from, but the S26 Plus is still more expensive. The 256GB model sees a $100 price increase to $1,100, while the 512GB variant was hit with a whopping $180 price increase to $1,300.

EN→DEThe Galaxy S26 has not reinvented anything, but as I mentioned at the beginning, it is extremely refined. After using it for more than two weeks, I am happy to report that the Galaxy S26 offers a solid user experience and is quite dependable. It gets almost everything right without trying too hard. Of course, the phone’s greatest KSP has to be its compact form factor. But even the other things, like the display, are excellent, and the performance should be strong enough for most users. Yes, there are compromises for sure, like the battery life may not be class leading, or the charging may not be the fastest. But if you want a compact flagship (mind you, there are only a handful of them) that delivers a premium experience without going into Ultra territory, the Galaxy S26 is a great option to consider. At Rs 87,999, it may not be perfect, but it is polished, capable and dependable in all the ways that actually matter.

EN→DEThe Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ may not be the most exciting upgrades, but they quietly get almost everything right. They are fast, reliable, and polished in a way that makes everyday use feel effortless. Yes, the lack of major upgrades and the price hike can feel a bit disappointing, especially if you are coming from last year’s models. But if you are upgrading from an older device, both phones still deliver a solid flagship experience without any real compromises. Choosing between the two ultimately comes down to your preference. If you want a compact, easy-to-handle phone that fits seamlessly into your daily routine, the Galaxy S26 is the one to go for. But if your usage leans more towards gaming, streaming, and immersive viewing, the Galaxy S26+ with its larger display makes a stronger case. That said, there is one more thing to consider. At Rs 1,19,999, the Galaxy S26+ sits uncomfortably close to the Ultra. And at that point, stretching your budget a little further might actually get you a more feature-packed device.

EN→DEFor all of my complaints regarding the lack of improvements, the Samsung Galaxy S26 is still a very good phone. On a graph measuring performance prowess against diminutive build, no other phone nails the balance like this. It’s not the best value for money, especially with the retirement of the entry-level 128GB model, and anyone looking to hit most of the key points achieved here may want to consider hopping the fence and spending less on an iPhone 17 – or settling for weaker battery life with the otherwise excellent Google Pixel 10. Otherwise, Samsung has this particular niche completely cornered, and it knows it. The lack of upgrades irks me, but it doesn’t change the fact that, for anyone seeking plenty of power in a compact frame, there’s nothing that I’d recommend over the Galaxy S26.

EN→DEThe Samsung Galaxy S26 is a reliably excellent phone dressed in a genuinely beautiful body. Its night photography is particularly impressive; the display – while not class-leading – is more than capable for everyday use; and the Horizontal Lock video mode is one of those features that sounds gimmicky until you use it. With a few more refinements, the lower-end device could really be something that blows users away. Unfortunately, Samsung just isn’t quite there yet – so while there might not be a reason for anyone to take the leap from last year’s phone, those moving from an S23 or older will feel the improvements in battery life, camera performance, and processing power.

EN→DEThe Galaxy S26 stays true to Samsung’s formula for a compact flagship, delivering a refined design, one of the best displays in the segment, smooth performance, and a highly customisable software experience backed by long-term updates. It’s a phone that gets the basics right and feels polished in everyday use, especially for those who prefer a smaller, easy-to-handle device without compromising on core flagship features. Battery life is decent for regular usage, but maybe not for power users. The cameras also perform well and offer a balanced experience across scenarios. If battery life and faster charging are priorities, options like the Xiaomi 17 (review) and Vivo X300 (review) could be considered. EN→DEThe Samsung Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ are excellent phones. There's no way around the fact that they're iterative — Samsung hasn't reinvented the wheel here, and last year's owners have very little reason to upgrade. It also works well if you value a polished software experience over raw specifications, and especially if you plan to use your phone for several years, thanks to Samsung’s long-term update support. That said, it may not be the right pick if you’re looking for cutting-edge camera hardware or if battery life and charging speeds are your top priorities. It also doesn’t stand out as the best value option. Overall, the Galaxy S26 proves that a phone doesn’t need big changes to stay relevant, but its safe approach can make it feel less compelling in a fast-moving market.

EN→DEDepending on where you live in the world, the Galaxy S26 will either be an obvious compact Android pick or something of an also-ran. US shoppers must essentially pick between this or the Google Pixel 10 Pro, and aren’t saddled with an inferior chipset. While Samsung has closed the gap with this year’s Exynos silicon, European buyers are still getting the lesser device. The rest of the world is also much better served for smaller screen flagships. The Xiaomi 17 has Samsung embarrassed on battery life and has a superior rear camera setup, while China and India have the upcoming OnePlus 15T to look forward to. This is still a powerful handset with consistent cameras and day-long battery life – just about. It looks the part and has a stunning screen. I also can’t argue that Samsung’s Android interface is as fully-featured as they come. But it’s being left behind on multiple fronts by the competition, while asking for more of your cash than ever. If OneUI on a smaller screen is a must, you’ll definitely want to hold out for a discounted network carrier contract deal.

They’re faster and longer-lasting than almost anything in their price range, and their displays and designs remain some of the slickest around. The S26+ is particularly compelling, as you’re getting a fantastic 6.7-inch screen for a little less than the price of other big phones like the iPhone 17 Pro Max, Pixel 10 Pro XL and Samsung’s own Galaxy S26 Ultra. These are traditional modern successful flagships with high-quality screens, top performance, a universal set of cameras that shoot well, a user-friendly interface with the prospect of major updates in the next 8 years, a classic pleasant design and protection of the case from dirt and water according to the IP68 standard. Of the technical complaints, the only thing that can be noted is the heating of the Exynos 2600 under prolonged loads (which will be noticeable only to gamers) and the lack of autofocus in the ultra-wide-angle camera.

EN→DEThe Galaxy S26 might not be a big upgrade, but it remains an easy recommendation. There are only a small handful of great compact phones, and the two main rivals are neither as light nor as compact as the Galaxy. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro are both thicker phones with a more substantial weight. The light weight, however, is a trade-off for a camera system that is not quite as powerful. The telephoto camera in particular feels much less capable than rivals. I also wish we had support for 45W fast charging and MagSafe, two conveniences that matter a lot in daily use. And if we have to pay more, I also expect at least some form of anti-reflective coating on the screen. The latter strangely remains a Galaxy Ultra exclusive. On the plus side, Samsung continues improving One UI and making AI feel a bit more useful every year. The AI photo editing capabilities built right into the Gallery app are the best I've used, and the reliability of Samsung's software is a big highlight.

The pressure is very high, as Apple did many things right with the iPhone 17 launch, throwing the ball back in Samsung's court with a smirk. The iPhone 17 Pro, on the other hand, is awkwardly the least talked about new iPhone. The iPhone Air got all the talk due to its super-thin design. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is traditionally the best iPhone this year, and the regular iPhone 17 finally became a very complete and lucrative package after scoring ProMotion for the first time.

Whether you get the Exynos or the Snapdragon S26, there's fortunately no performance gulf as has happened in the past. However, the shorter battery life is a disappointing discovery from Samsung's first 2nm chip. For Samsung's smallest flagships over the last three years, it's all been very samey. Is the company now focused on its true flagship Ultra phone and foldables to generate buzz and make things exciting? That's what it feels like. There's nothing wrong with this safe, solid Android phone, but you could pick up last year's S25 and get an experience that's 99 percent the same for $99 less.

Here's how to get the best from your Galaxy S26, plus some older tips for noobs. If you're new to Galaxy phones and OneUI 8, here's a gentle introduction to some of the classic old features as well as a glance at the latest updates. The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra unsurprisingly gets the most love, with new camera video tools and that excellent Privacy Display. However, even the Samsung S26 and the Plus smartphone get that call screening, screenshots revamp and a few other new bits.

EN→DEIt would be unfair not to highlight Samsung's efforts to optimize for the existing hardware. Compared to last year's Galaxy S25, there are certainly some improvements. We see a notable gain in battery life, a tad faster charging, and a bunch of new AI and video recording features that may sound enticing enough to the right crowd. On the other hand, it's becoming increasingly hard for Samsung to sugar-coat the minor upgrades offered by the new generation. The Galaxy S26 still feels like the flagship underdog next to the Plus and Ultra.

EN→DEIn the end, I’m a little torn with the Galaxy S26. There’s no doubt to me that if you want a flagship phone that’s thin and light, with solid performance and a decent camera experience, the Galaxy S26 is probably still the best all-rounder. But then there’s that realisation that it’s because there’s very little competition for it. Pixel phones are thicker, with less powerful processors and smaller displays, while the regular iPhone has a more limited camera system. Beyond those two, there’s not much in the way of competition for the S26, and so Samsung can keep on with the incremental upgrades without going all-out to compete, safe in the knowledge that, despite the fact it could be better, it doesn’t need to be.

EN→DEThe Galaxy S26 follows Samsung's strategy of annoyingly withholding improvements other flagship phones got years ago to differentiate its lineup. Yet if you can stomach the slower charging speed and smaller battery capacity, the phone's software and AI tricks make it a standout flagship for 2026. The big question is price, and for better or worse, Samsung is the guinea pig of rising prices this year. The $900 price tag for a baseline flagship is steep, but that will likely only age better throughout 2026 as more phones are expected to get more expensive due to the RAM shortage. And let's be honest: Samsung and US carriers love tons of trade-in and discount deals, which will mitigate the price hike to some degree.

EN→DESamsung's Galaxy S26 is a phone that scores some important upgrades, like a larger screen, a bigger battery, and faster chipsets, which are all key upgrades. These certainly make the Galaxy S26 a pretty intriguing device that will carry the Galaxy lineup forward. One downside of all these improvements is the price, which now starts at $899. Meanwhile, the Pixel has been out for a couple of months already, and it's aimed at purists that enjoy pure Android and Google's AI advances more.

I love a mini mobile, so I really hoped that the Samsung Galaxy S26 would be a strong rival to the Pixel 10 Pro and Xiaomi 17. However, the camera setup hasn't changed, and while night photography has improved, this phone often struggles with living subjects. Gamers will get hours of play time out of this thing, as long as the battery lasts - but that's the other problem with the Samsung S26. I struggled to make it through a full day on a single battery charge, even if I was pretty careful with the camera etc. So overall, the Xiaomi 17 is my favourite compact handset released in 2026.

EN→DEThe Samsung Galaxy S26 was announced on February 25, 2026, and it is expected to go on sale starting March 6, 2026. Samsung continues its premium flagship approach with a compact yet powerful design. The phone features a 6.3-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X display with a 1080 × 2340 resolution, around 411 ppi pixel density, and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. It also supports HDR10+ and can reach up to 2600 nits peak brightness, which should make the screen clear even in bright outdoor conditions. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, while the phone itself uses a glass front and back with an Armor Aluminum 2 frame, giving it a durable and premium feel. With a 167 g weight and a 7.2 mm slim body, the Galaxy S26 should be comfortable to hold and easy to use with one hand. It also carries an IP68 rating, meaning it can handle dust and water exposure without problems. Under the hood, the Galaxy S26 is built for flagship-level performance. Depending on the region, it is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset (US and China) or the Exynos 2600 processor in other markets. Both are advanced chips designed for strong performance, efficient power use, and improved AI capabilities.

EN→DEWhile all three of the new Galaxy S26 phones are excellent, the S26 Ultra is the standout. It’s the most expensive of the range, though oddly, it has had a smaller price increase than the others. Its multiple cameras, super-fast processor and unique Privacy Display are the standouts and make it the leading Android phone from any brand. While the smaller, more affordable S26 and S26 Plus lack some of these standouts, they are beautifully designed and effective, with strong performance, including for Samsung’s latest AI features.

EN→DEThe Samsung Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus are modest upgrades to the series, bringing back the same camera hardware as the S25 and S25 Plus, while upgrading night video, adding APV codec support, and including some smart creative AI editing and productivity tools. The main hardware change this year is the processor, making the pair a likely safe bet without being a compelling upgrade for S24 or S25 owners.

EN→DEThe Galaxy S26 series is not a radical new start. The design and camera continue to develop cautiously, but there are no real hardware revolutions. Instead, Samsung is clearly shifting the focus towards AI, display technology, and system integration. The Ultra remains the most exciting model – primarily because of the display and the new AI functions. At the same time, the S26 and S26+ also benefit from the new software approach. Anyone expecting a classic hardware upgrade may be disappointed. Those who want to see where smartphones are heading as personal assistance systems will get a very interesting outlook here. The detailed test will show whether this is enough to hold its own against the increasingly strong competition from China, and we are also expecting one or two other innovations around the MWC in Barcelona.

EN→DEThe new Samsung Galaxy S26 phones — the S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra — mostly resemble the previous versions. The design, for one, is largely the same. Like most mainstream phones, the S26 phones come with rounded corners and flat sides. The easier way to distinguish the S26 from last year's models is to look at the rear cameras. If they are on a camera plateau, it's the S26 series. The bezels are also thinner in the S26 phones, but that's more difficult to tell without a side-by-side comparison.

EN→DEUnlike the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which has seen a number of meaningful hardware changes, the Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus have to rely more on Samsung's new AI features to differentiate themselves from the phones that came before, plus a small increase in display and battery size for the basic S26. I would add the new chipsets as a plus point as well, but we don't know yet whether the Exynos 2600 will match up to (or perhaps even beat) the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. This lack of upgrades perhaps makes for a higher threshold to clear for these phones to be worthy replacements of what you're already using. That said, these two phones still seem like worthy opponents for the Google Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro, or the iPhone 17.

There are nips and tucks here and there, and the end results still feel polished, but there isn’t much that feels like it warrants an upgrade. Less still considering the price increases. I may end up being pleasantly surprised when I get them both in for testing – Samsung is a dab hand at smartphone production after all, and even its humblest models tend to deliver brilliant results in some form or another, but as things stand right now, I’m not hugely impressed.

EN→DEThe Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus is a slick phone, from one end to the other. It feels fast and responsive, the look is immaculate, if familiar, and the camera has the chops to keep up with the most demanding of photographers. It’s not an aggressively forward-looking phone in all respects, though. Battery tech is what sticks out the most in day-to-day use. While rivals from Xiaomi, Oppo and co. forge ahead with high-capacity Silicon-Carbon batteries and their long-standing ultra-fast charging, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus is all too easy to drain down in a day.

EN→DEThe Samsung Galaxy S26+ is priced at Rs 1,19,999, representing a Rs 20,000 increase over the Galaxy S25+. If you are upgrading from an older Galaxy phone, this model offers a compelling case. However, for recent S-series users, the improvements are not substantial enough to justify an upgrade. Performance is fast, and the overall experience is refined. However, the changes are minimal. The Galaxy S25 Ultra, available for Rs 1,18,999 on Amazon India, remains a more balanced option and was Samsung's top flagship for 2025.

EN→DEThe Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus is exactly what I expected it to be: a solid mid-tier Android smartphone that does enough to be great but doesn’t quite make it to excellence. Powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset for Galaxy, the S26 Plus topped even the most premium competitors on performance. Jumping into games like Destiny Rising on the highest graphics is a breeze, and you can genuinely expect to enjoy performance that's largely comparable to the best gaming phones on Samsung's latest flagship middle child. The S26 Plus' 6.7-inch display is just as bright and colorful as the S26 Ultra's, highlighting all of the gorgeous colors in my favorite media content. Its premium svelte design is stunning in certain colorways, too, and the near bezel-less face makes for an immersive viewing experience.

Reviewing Samsung's Galaxy S26 Plus (Exynos 2600 model from the UK), after testing it as my full-time phone for a week. Here's my thoughts on the camera abilities, battery life, gaming performance and everyday real-world use. Is the Samsung S26 Plus a weak alternative to that Ultra smartphone? Well, vs the Ultra, you have few real upgrades here. In fact, thanks to the switch from Snapdragon to Exynos, this generation isn't as strong for battery performance compared with the previous generation. The Samsung S26 Plus can still play the latest, most demanding games like Wuthering Waves, but don't expect to spend long before the power is drained. This big-screen Galaxy phone sports a sadly familiar camera setup, although the good news is that image processing has been slightly improved. The Samsung S26 Plus can take quite crisp night photos, although it still occasionally struggles with action pics with kids and pets. Likewise, the zoom camera isn't so hot in low light.

It offers a larger display and battery than the vanilla model, along with a more premium overall experience. EN→DEThe Samsung Galaxy S26+, much like its rivals in this segment, isn’t a true all-rounder. It shines in certain areas, but there are a few aspects where it falls short. Starting with the drawbacks, the phone offers a capable and reliable camera system that performs well across most scenarios. But, it loses its edge when compared against the more camera-focused flagships, especially the Vivo X300 Pro.

EN→DEThe Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus gets most of the fundamentals right. The display is strong and consistent, the software experience is refined, and performance is smooth for everyday use. The camera system is dependable, and the overall experience feels stable across different use cases. However, it falls short in areas that matter for long-term usability. The heating issues during both light and heavy usage are difficult to overlook. The redesigned camera module also introduces practical inconveniences, from wobble to dust accumulation. This is a phone that works well for general use and media consumption, but it is not ideal for users who prioritise sustained performance, especially in gaming. EN→DEIf I’m going to be completely honest, and so as not to beat around the bush, while I can and would recommend this phone to people, at the $200 higher price point, I would only say you should buy this device if you want the larger display and larger battery, which doesn’t last as long, at least in my case. For me personally, I prefer the larger display for mobile games and for watching videos. If you have smaller hands and don’t like larger phones, then you’re better off spending less money and getting the Galaxy S26 instead. They’re both essentially the same exact phone. Where the only real differences are the display size, resolution, and battery capacity. Both phones are good. So, if you don’t care about the larger display, get the Galaxy S26. If you want the larger display, get the Galaxy S26 Plus.

EN→DEThe Galaxy S26 and S26+ are easily some of the best Android phones you can buy. But with these phones now starting at $900 for the S26 and $1,100 for the S26+, the math gets a little trickier.

EN→DESamsung Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ are another careful and exclusively evolutionary update of the line.

EN→DEI like to imagine the kind of person who would want to buy a phone as I wrap up a review, but I'm struggling with the Galaxy S26 Plus. It's not a case of it being a bad phone — it does everything you could ask of a premium Samsung phone. But the target audience feels very narrow. On its face, the S26 Plus still looks like good value compared to other flagship phones available today if you're purely interested in screen space, even accounting for the higher price. For photography or battery life, the Ultra does it better, while also offering unique elements like its Privacy Display. For performance, or AI features, the standard S26 does all the same things as the S26 Plus, but for less money.

EN→DEAnother year, another Galaxy S Plus model that tastes like reheated leftovers. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing inherently wrong with the Galaxy S26 Plus—it's a boringly decent phone that's sadly outshined by its slightly pricier, better-camera-wielding, and S Pen-featuring Galaxy S26 Ultra cousin. The whole existence of the Galaxy S26 Plus is questionable to me, as the economic side of owning one doesn't really make sense. If you're already spending $1,100 on a Galaxy S26 Plus, it certainly makes sense to splurge on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, where you get a better camera, a display with better features, significantly better performance, and an S Pen stylus.

EN→DENow, should you buy the Samsung Galaxy S26+? This is such a tough question to answer, honestly. I have to use the Malaysian pricing for this part so your consensus may vary because I am going to compare with the previous generation’s price. At the time of scripting this review, the entire S26 series is actually way much more expensive than the previous generation. This is also the first price hike that I’ve seen that is caused by the global DRAM shortage that effects RAM and SSD, but the price is quite egregious to say the least. Now, you might say other brands are very low in price – so why not get those? Well, their price hikes are coming soon too.But in the uniqueness of the Galaxy S26+, I’d say you can just get it now and score the free double storage upgrade, or wait till the price drops. I’m not sure how much the price will drop since there’s a DRAM shortage that we still don’t see the end of. In any case, I assume Samsung will bring the latest One UI 8.5 alongside all of the new features to the previous generations as well, but at a later date. And since we have that in mind, maybe you can also consider getting the S25+ too. The price of that is waaaaaaaaaay lower right now.

EN→DEAfter six weeks with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, it is clear Samsung has built one of the most complete flagship phones of the year. Its excellent Privacy Display is a genuine point of difference, the software support is class-leading, performance is consistently strong, and the new Quick Share support for AirDrop makes it one of the most seamless cross-ecosystem Android phones yet. Add in a premium design, long-term software support and faster charging, and the S26 Ultra feels thoroughly future-proofed. For photographers and videographers, there is still plenty to like. Samsung continues to offer one of the richest pro-grade camera experiences on any mainstream phone, with deep manual controls, advanced shooting modes, and enthusiast-friendly codecs, including Log, Expert RAW, and APV. Video is also a strength from the main camera in particular, especially with the improvements to Nightography. The problem is that the camera hardware doesn't stand out.

Reviewing Samsung's Galaxy S26 Ultra after over one month of testing the camera tech, gaming performance, battery life and beyond. I've used the Samsung S26 Ultra as my full-time phone for a chunk of that time and it's good, but at this price it's not one of my favourites. That Snapdragon chipset can handle everything you throw at it, but how about gaming on Wuthering Waves? Here's how Sammy's cooling tech copes. Battery life was dreadful on the regular S26 and Plus models - so how is it here on their Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra sibling? I've taken over 1000 photos and shot a lot of video with this mega-phone too. While the camera hardware hasn't changed much vs the S25 Ultra, I have seen some clear improvements on the Samsung S26 Ultra. Although it's still not as impressive as the OPPO Find X9 smartphones. So that's my review, hopefully everything you need to know about one of the most expensive flagship phones of 2026. Let us know your own verdict below if you've been using the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, and check out my tips and tricks guide for more on the OneUI side!

EN→DEThe Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is the very definition of ‘playing it safe’. In so many ways, this is the exact same phone as the S25 Ultra, just with a slightly faster processor. That’s going to be enough for a lot of people who haven’t upgraded in a while, but anyone who already has a relatively recent device is probably safe sitting this one out, especially with its lackluster gaming performance. The S26 Ultra does come with Privacy Display, a completely unique feature that's going to be huge for the security-conscious, but with how it alters the color profile of the display, it's not something everyone is going to want to enable.

EN→DEOnce again, Samsung has made a fantastic phone with the Galaxy S26 Ultra. There’s not a huge amount to criticise about it – aside from the fact that once again it’s a small, incremental jump from the previous model. Perhaps my biggest gripe is that there remains only one size of phone available – for those of us who don’t want massive phones, but still want the best camera, it’s a shame not to have options. Anyway, it’s safe to say, if you’ve got an S25 Ultra, I can see little reason to immediately upgrade to this. That’s probably even true if you’ve got an S24 Ultra, too. However, if you’ve got an S22 Ultra or an S23 Ultra – or of course something from a different brand – then you will spot much more differences and feel the benefit of upgrading a lot more. The S26 Ultra is very capable of taking great pictures across a range of scenarios. Images have great colours, plenty of detail and the cameras work well in low light too.

EN→DEThe Galaxy S26 Ultra certainly brings improvements and new functionality. The company has found an interesting direction for development in the Privacy display function, which after a few days of use becomes so familiar that you wonder how you ever managed without it before. In addition, Samsung has combined a thinner body, a more powerful processor, faster charging, better cameras with all the Ultra-series features that users love so much. This has made the Galaxy S26 Ultra one of the best Android flagships on the market. So if you are upgrading from the Galaxy S23 Ultra or an older model, you will get significant progress in all parameters. If you have an S24 Ultra, then the upgrade may make sense thanks to the Privacy display, improved cameras and overall comfort. But S25 Ultra owners will most likely have a harder time finding sufficient arguments to switch.

EN→DEAt the end of the day, there has to be one question left on your mind: Is the Samsung Galaxy S Ultra series special again? It’s a big, shiny phone with a big, shiny price tag, which means there are lofty expectations for it to meet. And, if you ask me, it largely meets them with the Galaxy S26 Ultra — but it does so with a different goal than its predecessor. See, where the Galaxy S25 series was all about pushing Galaxy AI into your face in the hopes that it would paper over the cracks of an otherwise underwhelming update, the Galaxy S26 Ultra doesn’t make the same push. It relies on power, precision, reliable hardware, and Samsung’s typically excellent software support (seven years of updates here, as expected), and I think it works out much better than the previous generation, though I can understand why anyone might feel it still doesn’t have enough new to offer — my colleague Paul was a bit more underwhelmed in his video review.

The privacy screen is a genuinely clever innovation that addresses a real, everyday need; something that sounds unglamorous but proves its worth every time you open a banking app on a crowded train. The design softening and the switch to aluminium are minor gripes, and the AI ecosystem, while ambitious, remains uneven in quality. If you upgraded in the last couple of years, there may not be enough here to justify the leap. But for everyone else, this is the definitive Android flagship of 2026. If budget is not a concern, this is one of the most well-rounded Android flagships you can buy right now.

EN→DESamsung Galaxy S26 Ultra comes with a starting price tag of Rs 1,39,999 and the smartphone performs brilliantly in every department. The Samsung S26 Ultra is by far Samsung’s best Galaxy S phone yet, and while it doesn’t reinvent the iconic Android handset, it moves the design, power, AI, and creative capabilities in a positive direction. The addition of the Privacy Display is a standout innovation, offering practical security in everyday scenarios, while Samsung’s deeper integration of AI features makes the phone feel smarter and more adaptive than ever before. Performance is consistently strong, with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset and improved thermal management ensuring reliability across gaming, multitasking, and creative workloads. The camera system continues to set benchmarks, delivering stunning detail, improved low-light shots, and professional-grade video stabilization. Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is one of the most complete and capable smartphones available in 2026.

EN→DEThe Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is, without question, one of the most capable smartphones available today. It combines a premium design, an excellent display, powerful performance, and a versatile camera system into a single device that excels in nearly every category. At the same time, it also highlights the realities of modern flagship phones. Most upgrades are now refinements rather than dramatic leaps forward. Features like the Privacy Display and new AI tools add interesting capabilities, but they also come with trade-offs that not every user will prioritize. For those already invested in Samsung’s ecosystem or looking for one of the most feature-packed smartphones available, the S26 Ultra remains an easy recommendation at the time of writing. But it’s also a reminder that in today’s smartphone market, the biggest improvements do not often come from completely new ideas, but from carefully balancing the trade-offs that we get with them. On a personal note, if Samsung is taking a more conservative approach to hardware upgrades.. I may be in the minority but might I suggest and pitch an S-Ultra handset with dimensions more similar to the base S26 model. Not an S25/26 Edge, not the plus model; 6.3-inch display, best chip you can put in it, spanking new and reliable camera system, no need for periscope zooms, ditch the S-Pen (that was a Note series thing anyways), UWB, ToF sensor. Make it happen, take my money.

EN→DEI actually enjoyed testing the Galaxy ZFold 7 foldable more than last year’s non-folding S25 Ultra, even though the latter had the superior spec sheet. Even now, I’d probably recommend that as the most fun and cutting-edge Samsung phone you can buy. But it’s not without its flaws. And while the non-folding Galaxy S26 Ultra may not be as exciting as its foldable cousin, in terms of the overall package this is as complete as Android gets in 2026 especially with that integrated S Pen stylus.

Should you buy the new Galaxy S26 Ultra, or save some cash and pick up last year’s Galaxy S25 Ultra? EN→DEIt seems like the Galaxy S26 Ultra doesn’t try to change the flagship formula, which is both its strength as well as weakness. It simply refines what already works while adding some important improvements. The Privacy Display stands out as a genuinely useful addition, while performance, battery, and software remain reliably strong. However, the camera, despite improvements, still has its limitations, especially with moving subjects, and AI features feel a mix of useful and unnecessary. The S26 Ultra is easy to recommend, just not the most exciting choice in its segment. And if you are already using the Galaxy S25 Ultra, then the S26 Ultra may seem familiar.

EN→DEOn the face of it, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra comes across as an incremental, iterative upgrade, and there’s no getting away from that. So if you’re an S25 Ultra user, you probably won’t find it too exciting. Even when viewed in isolation, the S26 Ultra might not be a chart-topper in every aspect. That said, when you’re spending the kind of money it asks for, you can’t be looking at just one or two features that work in its favour, or don’t. You need to consider the whole package. In terms of competition, there’s its arch nemesis, the iPhone. The iPhone 17 Pro Max can’t be ignored in the premium segment, and that’s the one most likely to be considered as an option when eying the S26 Ultra. And Apple is the only other brand (the very first one in fact), that has a super-strong ecosystem play. And if you’re confused between the iPhone and the Galaxy, the answer lies in that one word — ecosystem. Choosing one means choosing the side you want to be on. On the Android side of the fence, competition has heated up. The Google Pixel 10 Pro XL is another strong contender, with camera and AI being its core strengths. However, performance isn’t its strong suit.

Set it how you want it and never worry about those privacy screen protectors again and turn it off when you don’t need it. Hardware is still great and gaming on this device is superb, bringing cool temperatures. Camera still takes great shots and has gotten better with low light. If you want to have some fun utilize that Horizon Lock feature as well. But just like last year this phone is priced hefty starting at $1299.99. But it hit all the marks on everything.

With its slimmer build, durable materials, and integrated S Pen, it remains one of the most versatile smartphones available. What truly sets the S26 Ultra apart is its expansive AI ecosystem. Galaxy AI, Gemini, Bixby, and Perplexity combine to offer creative tools, productivity enhancements, and agentic capabilities that push the boundaries of what a smartphone can do. While the overlap between these assistants can feel excessive, the sheer breadth of features makes the Ultra a powerful AI‑driven companion. What I would have loved to see is a bigger battery capacity but given the excellent improvement in battery life, it’s hard to complain. S25 Ultra users might not find it a compelling upgrade but looking at it on its own, it is an excellent flagship Android smartphone.

In my case, I use this phone to sign documents and I am literally playing PS2 games via an emulator on this thing. People point out that it doesn't have built-in magnets, that the S Pen no longer has Bluetooth, that the 3x camera hasn't been upgraded, and that the main camera doesn't use a 1-inch sensor. EN→DESamsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra is easily one of the best phones I’ve ever used. While it’s not perfect, it just works and nothing seems too difficult or confusing. Having Bixby, Gemini and Perplexity on one device is kind of overkill, but that just shows the number of options that are available on the device. It doesn’t have the OnePlus 15’s battery, but takes better pictures, has a slimmer design and is sold at Canadian carriers. I prefer the selfies on the Pixel 10 Pro, and I always miss Now Playing when I leave the Pixel, but the S26U still offers great photography, a better battery, and is far more powerful. There’s give and take with just about any phone on the market, but overall, this is a solid package. It’s expensive (compared to those other devices), which is worth mentioning, but you’re paying to have a great phone, a jack of all trades and a master of some, and that might be worth it for some users. Samsung’s 256GB Galaxy S26 Ultra costs $1,899.99, which again is an expensive pill to swallow, even if it is a bit more affordable than last year’s S25 Ultra.

EN→DEThe Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is not a phone for everyone. At $1,299, it never was. But the question isn’t whether it’s expensive. The question is whether it’s worth it for you. If you’re someone who’s been on a Galaxy S23 Ultra or older, stop reading and go buy this phone. The jump in performance, software intelligence, charging speed, and camera processing is significant enough that you’ll feel it every single day. You’re long overdue. If you’re coming from a Galaxy S25 Ultra, it’s a tougher sell.

EN→DEThe Galaxy S26 Ultra is a classic Samsung “safe” upgrade; not exciting, but undeniably still polished. The softer, lighter aluminium design makes this big-screen flagship easier to handle, and the stunning 6.9in AMOLED display is boosted by the genuinely useful Privacy Display tech – even if enabling it does slightly compromise image quality. Performance from the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy is excellent, sustained gaming is better than before, and seven years of OS updates continue to make the Ultra one of the strongest long-term Android bets around. The camera hardware is starting to look conservative next to Chinese rivals, and the 10MP 3x telephoto feels particularly dated, but Samsung’s mature image processing still delivers bright, detailed shots with more natural colour than previous generations and class-leading zoom up to around 30–40x.

One UI 8.5 is great — feature-rich, with some useful AI tools (especially in the Gallery), and a level of refinement that, in my opinion, far surpasses that of a Pixel or any other Android phone.

Samsung's Galaxy S26 Ultra may not have the most eye-grabbing design or camera hardware, but there are subtle improvements all around, including a new Privacy Display feature that is genuinely useful. While I prefer using a phone with a stronger set of cameras, I think the S26 Ultra is still arguably the most polished Android phone for the masses.

It also retains quite a few specifications from its predecessor. At launch, we managed to get our hands on a test sample for field testing. EN→DEAfter a week with the phone, the answer is a qualified yes. The S26 Ultra is a powerful camera phone and video tools that go beyond point-and-shoot. The primary and ultra-wide cameras are dependable, the 5x is a strong fit when compared to iPhones and Pixels, and Nightography video is a real step forward. But Samsung’s heavy-handed processing still dominates the experience, and the 3x camera continues to feel like the system’s compromise camera. If you love Samsung’s punchy look, you’ll get results that you're used to, only a little bit better. If you’re chasing consistency, realism, and crop-friendly files across every focal length, the S26 Ultra doesn’t always deliver. There's a lot more to this phone than just the camera, though, so check back for the full review to find out how the headline Privacy Display feature fares, find out whether Samsung's new vapor chamber cooling system is actually a game changer for gaming, and to better understand if it's the right upgrade for you.

EN→DEThe Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra performs strongly in the DXOMARK Camera test, bringing meaningful and well-implemented improvements over the previous generation of Samsung flagship devices particularly in low light, where the larger aperture and refined image processing deliver better detail, lower noise, and more stable color performance. Across photo attributes, the device shows clear progress in color accuracy, texture and noise trade-off, and telephoto consistency. However, despite these gains, the S26 Ultra still falls short of many competing flagships in several critical areas.

EN→DEFor the past few years, I have felt the same way every time I review a Samsung flagship phone. The keynote leaves me underwhelmed and puzzled. For instance, why, when there’s so much innovation happening elsewhere, does Samsung hardware feel so stagnant? And more specifically, why do we still have that uninspiring 10Mp 3x telephoto camera? But then I actually start using the thing, and it wins me over yet again. The experience is premium throughout, and it leaves me with no doubts that the Galaxy S26 Ultra is one of the best Android phones available today. This might be a weird thing to say about the world’s pre-eminent Android manufacturer, but: Samsung is in kind of a tough spot. It needs to compete with Apple – the most successful example of vertical integration in tech – with a family of phones that Samsung only partially controls. Android belongs to Google, and no matter how much effort Samsung expends on software … it’s just not a software company. Which is why it relies so heavily on Gemini for so many of its headlining features. Its latest flagship is the ultimate reflection of this reality: a smartphone whose biggest splash is a display you can’t find anywhere else – and AI features you mostly can. I’m Michael Fisher and I’ve spent ten days with the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Join me for the MrMobile review!

EN→DESo, should you buy the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra? Well, do you think the privacy display and the battery life improvement are important? If yes, then okay – get the S26 Ultra. That privacy display is still the best new exclusive hardware-level feature on the S26 Ultra that competitors will take time to integrate into their devices. Plus, in my opinion, One UI is still my personal favorite Android skin. I absolutely cannot live without Modes and Routines for all the automation, and Samsung Wallet for all the features it has.The price of the S26 Ultra is definitely higher than the previous generation – at least for the Malaysian retail price, there is a small price hike. At least it’s not as bad as the base S26 and the S26+, but it’s still a price hike nonetheless. But, if you don’t care about the privacy display… then listen further. One UI 8.5 is currently on the S26 series only, but I do believe that all of the new features will come to the previous generations as well.

EN→DEThe S26 Ultra sticks closely to the familiar Galaxy formula, but it’s one that clearly works: performance is blazing, Samsung’s software ecosystem is extensive, and photography largely keeps pace with the Western competition. The S Pen continues to have its vocal supporters, and Privacy Display can legitimately claim to be the most interesting new phone tech of 2026. Anyone demanding the biggest batteries or best camera sensors probably started shopping elsewhere (mainly Chinese brands) a few generations back, and the S26 Ultra’s minimal gains on the latter haven’t done anything to change that.

Faster charging finally brings the phone closer to its rivals, while battery life sees a welcome boost. Some of the new AI features, along with improvements to existing ones, are genuinely interesting. EN→DEOverall these numbers paint a fairly rosy picture of the Galaxy S26 Ultra's performance. It nearly keeps up with dedicated gaming phones in extended benchmarks, and its browser performance is basically neck and neck with the latest iPhone. Those are both impressive feats for a general-purpose flagship device and our hats are off to Samsung's Galaxy team, as the company seems to have done a great job optimizing this generation at this early stage, at least as far as performance goes. EN→DEThe Galaxy S26 Ultra is one of those phones that should get better and smarter over time. The agentic AI features are good now, but should become more useful as the phone gets to know your patterns. And automated app actions seem to have a lot of potential, assuming the integrations with Uber, DoorDash and other apps works as promised. The reasons to get the S26 Ultra right now and upgrade your phone are features like Privacy Display. At a time phone makers are being criticized for iterative updates, this is a truly innovative feature that solves a problem and it is completely customizable. I’m also very impressed with the Horizon Lock feature when shooting video (I challenge you to get shaky footage) and the improved low-light photos and videos.

EN→DEA wet and rainy San Francisco was the venue for this year’s Galaxy Unpacked launch event and the testing ground for shooting the new Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. The Ultra model is priced at $1,299, which is the same as last year’s model. I’m going into this review with the usual intention of testing this phone more as a camera and seeing how it stacks up as a creative tool. Last year’s Galaxy S25 Ultra felt like a very minor update, especially in terms of hardware, and the direction Samsung was going was clearly AI-driven. I drove to the launch event fearing more of the same. I think it’s fair to say that Samsung has a conservative approach to phone design, except when it comes to artificial intelligence.

EN→DEGalaxy S26 Ultra feels like a natural progression for the lineup. Samsung baked in more AI, which you can choose to enjoy or not, but from the hardware standpoint, it doesn’t get much better than this. I adore Privacy Display, plus the battery life and camera experience have been really fantastic. From my $1299 smartphones, that’s paramount. Even the thing I disliked the most, which was the keyboard, was an easy fix thanks to the Android OS. I’ve been reading other reviews and comments about the device. Many people find this to be a rather boring update, and while I don’t necessarily disagree, I think given the history that Samsung has in terms of adopting newer tech, this phone doesn’t disappoint me.

EN→DEThere's a strange feeling I often get when testing phones. After I got everything updated and set up the way I like, I noticed it even more with the S26 Ultra. The issue is that despite using a brand new device with shiny hardware, better performance and a more refined design, I'm still largely doing the same things and using the same apps as I was before (like Google Maps, Gmail and whatever my go-to mobile games are at the moment). This means my daily flow is basically unchanged from device to device. However, if you're paying attention, you'll notice things like higher framerates while gaming, sharper and more well-exposed photos at night and helpful suggestions like when the phone surfaces relevant photos in the middle of a text conversation.

EN→DEFor those who feel the prying eyes of the world peeking over their shoulder, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra has something special for you. Indeed, the entire S26 range (standard, Plus, and Ultra) has a new pixel-level feature that blocks out the display from the side and above. 'Privacy Display', as it is known, is arguably the most important feature on the Galaxy S26. This is a type of anti-shoulder surfing technology that obscures your screen. It works automatically on notifications, but needs to be activated for individual apps. Once on, sideways viewers will only see a dark display. The feature works at 'the pixel level', according to Samsung, and it is the result of five years of software engineering and tests. It's an appealing capability for the Samsung S26, but we expect it won't be long before other vendors have alternatives.

EN→DEIt's too early to decide what star rating we should bestow the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra with, as much more testing is required to see if its picture performance lives up to the heights set by its predecessor. Early signs show promise, however, as the S26 Ultra seems to be another feature-packed handset with a gorgeous screen. We can't wait to put it through our rigorous testing process.

EN→DEInitially, I felt as though the Galaxy S26 Ultra was another iterative upgrade, and in a lot of respects, it is on paper. Despite this, Samsung has pushed through a lot of great changes and upgrades that could prove to be genuinely useful — and are likely to be promptly copied by some of the competition. The Privacy Screen is the standout security feature on the S26 Ultra. Likewise, the camera's horizontal lock is not a wholly original idea, but it is a novel idea for a smartphone that could prove very useful. The rest of the phone's hardware looks solid, too. We've got a potentially major performance boost from the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, and the larger camera aperture should offer major improvements to photo quality — especially in low-light conditions.

EN→DEThe Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra gets its first genuinely new party trick in years, and Privacy Display is the real deal: easy to toggle, instantly effective, and genuinely useful. It drops Titanium but brings back the big low-glare AMOLED screen, top-tier power, and a camera setup that looks (mostly) strong on paper, led by a faster 200MP main lens and brighter 5x zoom. The lack of Qi 2 magnets, the middling 3x tele camera's specs, and the high price mean it isn't a no-brainer out of the gate, but we're expecting great things from it nevertheless.

EN→DEI’ve spent a few hours with the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra at Unpacked in San Francisco, and if last year’s S25 Ultra was the phone that made me care about AI, the S26 Ultra is the phone that makes me trust it. Samsung has quietly shifted from flashy AI party tricks to something more ambitious: an AI that acts for you, before you even ask.

EN→DEIt's clear that Samsung is betting big on AI once again. Right now, the most sophisticated, and arguably the most useful, AI features are the ones found in One UI. But not everyone seems to be sold on the AI buzz just yet, especially in countries where English isn't the main language, as most of these features support either English or a few other languages.

EN→DESamsung’s latest Galaxy flagships deliver incremental updates, but perhaps that’s to be expected considering the current economic landscape. The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s Privacy Screen is a truly innovative feature and a welcome addition that comes without a price increase. And while the Galaxy S26 costs $100 more than its predecessor, it features double the storage, a marginally bigger display, and a slightly larger battery, so it's easy to justify.

EN→DEI really like what Samsung has done with its S-series lineup this year. We’ve reached a point where there isn’t much more you can do with a slab of glass, aluminium, and machine intelligence, so any updates need to be highly considerate and genuinely beneficial. My thoughts turn immediately to people upgrading from earlier generations. The leap from S25 to S26 isn’t huge at all, but imagine coming from an S23 (or earlier) to one of these new devices. That user will experience seismic improvements. The stand-out S26 Ultra feature – and, indeed, the one that will grab all the headlines – is the privacy display. It’ll gain attention (excuse the pun) for the right reasons, and I hope other manufacturers follow suit.

EN→DESamsung has finally made it official. The flagships are here, and as expected, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, S26+ and S26 take centre stage at Unpacked 2026 in San Francisco on Wednesday. The Galaxy S26 series now come with improved performance, cameras with focus on Galaxy AI experience that translates into real-world experiences.

EN→DEOn first impression, the Galaxy S26 Ultra feels like a safe upgrade rather than a radical redesign, with a lighter frame and curvier corners that simply make it nicer to hold. It’s the screen that’s the real standout here, with new Privacy Screen tech that could be a real win for anyone who values their on-screen privacy. While the camera hardware is starting to look a bit conservative compared to its Chinese competitors, Samsung’s focus on image processing could still give it an edge – though I’ll need to see how it holds up in less-than-ideal conditions to confirm. Performance looks strong, as is standard for an Ultra device, though the 5000mAh cell remains unchanged at a time when rivals are going all-in on big batteries.

EN→DEWe’re not quite ready to render a verdict on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra just yet, but even at this early stage we can see where its major strengths are likely to lie, and how those will mark it out against the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL. Samsung hasn’t ripped up the playbook since last year’s Galaxy S25 Ultra, so its latest flagship phone is likely to be extremely powerful and excellent at zoomed-in camera snaps. It’ll also come with the unique ability to thwart shoulder snoopers, and is simply more powerful than its rival. All of these elements give it a clear edge over the Pixel 10 Pro XL.

EN→DEThose with the Galaxy S25 Ultra might be a little annoyed to learn they’re not getting the new Galaxy AI features like agentic AI and Now Nudge. Samsung says this is because the S25 Ultra isn’t powerful enough to run them. But while that’s a bummer, Samsung did something else surprising with the Galaxy S26 series. The Galaxy S26 and the Galaxy S26 Ultra 256GB are more affordable than their predecessors. (However, Samsung also isn’t offering a 128GB S26 variant this year.) In a one-on-one interview with Raj Doshi, Head of Mobile at Samsung Canada, he shared that Samsung made these handsets more affordable because of their popularity. However, the company also made the other storage/RAM configurations more pricey, as the company is being affected by the increase in RAM prices worldwide. While I don’t think Samsung took any big risks with the S26 Ultra, it seems like it’ll be just a solid experience, especially if the AI is everything it’s cracked up to be. While I love gimmicky hardware, I like my software to just work well and make my life easier, and it looks like Samsung is aiming for that experience.

EN→DEThe Galaxy S26 Ultra doesn't aim to change what worked well for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Instead, the goal here is to improve many of the key areas, like display, performance, camera, and charging speeds. That's fine, and while we'd have loved a larger battery inside, the new phone shapes up to be a good upgrade target for users of the Galaxy S22 Ultra and older devices, which are nearing the end of their shelf life. The same applies to the Pixel 10 Pro XL, which is a continuation rather than an evolution over the Pixel 9 Pro XL. Google doesn't like making stark moves, so the gap between the Pixel 9 Pro XL and the Pixel 10 Pro XL is pretty much what we should brace for in the coming years. Either way, both will be among the best top Android flagships you'd be able to get in the US in early 2026, with the Pixel having the benefit of already being on the shelves.

EN→DEJust like in previous years, OnePlus is set to bring the battle straight to Samsung with a phone that's shaping up to be a better value, all things considered. The Galaxy S26 Ultra has scored some key improvements, like better performance, potentially improved camera, and faster charging, but it's all more of the same. Of course, the added benefit of the S Pen is also about to be part of the deal. The OnePlus 15, on the other hand, gives us a raw upgrade in all key aspects that matter, including the performance, camera, and most importantly, the battery, which is set to be among the largest ones on a flagship device available in the US.

EN→DESamsung is once again playing things extremely safe with its flagships. No new product names and categories, no major changes, no big shakeups in the performance or design areas, and no interesting upgrades. What we get is a very familiar pair of devices that retain their major selling points and key differentiators but start to look a bit boring when superimposed on the current Android market. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is the phone that maximalists and power users will inevitably pick, as it will most certainly end up being the most powerful Android phone available in the US for the foreseeable future. With the best camera and most features and functionalities on board, it will be the expensive but no-compromise phone to get in early 2026. Unfortunately, all of that is soured by the formulaic and boring release. At the same time, the Galaxy S26 Plus continues being that weirdly positioned device that feels a bit off. It's a flagship, but not quite, and it's compact, but not as much as the Galaxy S26. Once you consider buying the Galaxy S26 Plus, it's very easy to get upsold to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which could be the only reason for its existence.

EN→DESamsung’s Galaxy AI umbrella is growing by the day, and at CES 2026, the brand showcased how it’s taking AI beyond smartphones and integrating it into other segments, such as appliances. Advancements in AI are happening at breakneck speed, and with the new S26 series, the brand is showing how the core aspects of AI — task automation, productivity enhancement, image editing, photography, etc — are finally coming together meaningfully, like pieces of a puzzle. These new Samsung devices are much more than smartphones now — they’re AI-enabled systems or platforms designed to enhance, speed up, and smoothen everyday tasks, and in turn, improve lives.

EN→DEThere’s a certain level of confidence that tends to come with Samsung launches that is generally very hard to argue with. The South Korean brand is one of the biggest and most influential players in the industry, and it knows it. More to the point, it can deliver a polished and premium smartphone in its sleep at this point. We’ve had our hands on it, albeit briefly, and can confirm it’s a very lovely thing. It’s good news, therefore, to see it not resting on its laurels and offering up the bare minimum selection of upgrades to justify the annual release.
