After years in the ultraportable market, Sony has gotten it just about right: it's all about the keyboard and the display. The Vaio P series offers the best keyboard on an ultraportable or netbook, and enough screen resolution to do serious work with no side-to-side scrolling and room for toolbars and application palettes. In fact, the display's resolution is higher than most full sized notebooks up to 15 inches! Caveat: that means you'll need good eyes to read text. Its features target those who need more than a basic netbook: it adds WiFi draft n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, EVDO, a GPS and large SSD drives (relative to the small flash drives on the Eee PC). Likewise its extreme good looks, thinness, small dimensions and high quality materials cater to the high end ultramobile market rather than the budget conscious. The only area where the Vaio P doesn't exceed the budget netbook competition is processor speed, but that does help to keep the price and power consumption down. Vista runs decently on the P, especially the SSD P, and Windows 7 really sings.

Serie: Mitte Februar gibt es im deutschsprachigen Raum 4 P11Z Varianten, die sich nur farblich unterscheiden. In Großbritannien sind zusätzlich P19wn und P19vn verfügbar, die in puncto Ausstattung leicht abweichen. So hat das P19vn einen anderen Prozessor.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 500: Integrierter (onboard) Grafikchip auf UL11L, US15L, US15W Chipsatz mit lizensiertem PowerVR SGX 535 Kern. Trotz DirectX 10.1 Unterstützung durch die geringen Taktraten (100-200 MHz je nach UL11L - US15L/W) nicht spielfähig. Integrierter Video Decoder für MPEG-2, VC-1, AVC.

3D Spiele sind auf diesen Vertretern nur in Ausnahmen spielbar, grundsätzlich sind die Grafiklösungen hierfür jedoch nicht geeignet. Office Programme und Internet surfen dürfte jedoch ohne Problem möglich sein.

Intel Atom: Die Intel Atom Serie besteht aus 64-Bit Mikroprozessoren für günstige und stromsparende Notebooks, MIDs oder UMPC. Besonderheit der Architektur, ist das die Befehle nicht wie derzeit üblich (z. B. Intel Core Architekture oder AMD Turion) "out of Order"  sondern  "in  Order"  ausgeführt  werden. Dadurch verliert man zwar einiges an Performance, jedoch spart dies Transistoren und daher Kosten und dadurch auch etwas Strom.
