Samsung Series 9 Serie
Anfang des Jahres 2011 hat Samsung mit der Serie 9 zwei neue Geräte vorgestellt, die im Rahmen der Consumer Electronics Show 2011, kurz CES, ihr Debüt feierten. Zeitgleich mit den beiden Geräten hat Samsung auch mit der Umstellung der Bezeichnungen begonnen. Nunmehr werden die verschiedenen Geräte in Serien eingegliedert. Neben der Ultra-Thin Serie 9 gibt es noch die Serien 2, 3 (B2C), 4 und 6 für Business-Notebooks (B2B), die Serie 5 für Geräte mit Google Chrome OS sowie die neue Serie 7 Chronos sowie Serie 7 Gamer als Multimedia- beziehungsweise Gaming-Angebot.
Zurück zu Samsung Serie 9: Nach der Vorstellung des Samsung Serie 900X3A mit 13,3-Zoll-Bildschirm und dem 900X1B mit 11,6-Zoll-Bildschirm war der Hype relativ groß, da augenscheinlich die erste wahre Alternative zu Apples MacBook Air vorhanden zu sein schien. Nicht zuletzt die hochwertigen Bildschirme und das Chassis aus leichtem Duraluminium sind wichtige Faktoren der neuen Serie. Für deutsche Kunden war die Ernüchterung nach der Messe relativ groß, da vorerst nur das größere Geräte auf den Markt kommt, und dies auch stark verspätet. Mittlerweile sind beide Notebooks auch in Deutschland ohne Problem zu haben und mussten sich schon einem ausführlichen Testbericht bei Notebookcheck.com stellen. Wichtige Pluspunkte in unseren Testberichten des 900X3A und 900X1B sind die guten Akkulaufzeiten, der flinke SSD-Speicher, die überzeugende Anzeige, die LED-Tastaturbeleuchtung und das ansprechende Design. Nachteile sind die bedingte Erweiterbarkeit, die Positionierung der Ports, der fehlende Dockingport und die lange Akkuladezeit des Lithium-Polymer-Akkus. Im Schnitt liegen die Bewertungen über 80 Prozent und damit im guten Wertungsbereich. Mit Preisen ab zirka 1000 Euro ist der Einstieg in diese Ultra-Thin-Serie nicht ganz günstig, aber das ist der Konkurrent von Apple auch nicht.

The 3-year warranty makes this a PC that's good enough for business users (although beware, as not all of the first models released have a TPM chip). So what's not to like? If you’re a perfectionist, the keyboard could be better. The touch pad irritated us far too often and the price is undeniably high (though less than the chunkier ThinkPad X1). A system this thin makes compromises but we think Samsung has made all the right ones. If you fancy an Air but don't want OS X, the Series 9 is almost perfect.

On the face of it this beautifully designed, slim and feather-light laptop is a business laptop extraordinaire, for Windows devotees. Its design, keyboard and Intel i5-powered performance is awesome, though we’re not sure it’s suited to anyone than the short-hop business traveller. The battery life is simply too short, and at this price, the Micro HDMI to VGA converter cable ought to be bundled. As a piece of technology for the home it’s awesome – the ultrabook era starts here.

Until they do, you may want to opt for a cheaper Ultrabook with more accurate input devices, unless you're absolutely set on a 15-inch screen.

Samsung: Die Samsung Group ist der größte südkoreanische Mischkonzern. In der Samsung-Gruppe sind mehr als 250.000 Menschen beschäftigt, und sie gehört zu den weltweit größten Unternehmen gemessen an Umsatz und Marktstärke. Samsung zahlt in Südkorea 5 Milliarden Euro Steuern, was 8 Prozent der Staatseinnahmen entspricht, und bestreitet einen Fünftel der südkoreanischen Exporte. Der Name Samsung bedeutet im Koreanischen "Drei Sterne" und repräsentiert die drei Söhne des Firmengründers. Das Unternehmen wurde 1938 als Lebensmittelladen gegründet. Mit der 1969 gegründeten Tochter Samsung Electronics nahm Samsung die Fertigung elektrotechnischer Artikel in Angriff, wobei man sich frühzeitig auf Unterhaltungselektronik und Haushaltsgeräte konzentrierte. Einige nicht anspruchsvolle aktuelle Spiele können mit geringen Details noch flüssig gespielt werden. Für Office und Video natürlich ausreichende Leistungsreserven.
Intel HD Graphics 3000: In Sandy Bridge Prozessoren (Core ix-2xxx) integrierte Grafikkarte von Intel. Stärkere GT2 genannte Version mit 12 Execution Units (EUs). Je nach Modell mit unterschiedlichen Taktraten (350-650MHz) und TurboBoost Unterstützung (900-1350MHz).
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) HD Graphics: Intel HD Graphics oder GMA HD genannte onboard Grafikkarte welche im Package der Core i3/i5/i7 Arrandale Dual-Core Prozessoren untergebracht wird. Je nach Prozessormodell maximal mit 500 bis 766 MHz getaktet (Turbo Boost). Von Lenovo anscheinend auch GMA5700MHD genannt. Die gleichgenannte Intel HD Graphics Prozessorgrafik in den Sandy Bridge Prozessoren basiert auf einer neueren Architektur.

2537M: Stromspar-Doppelkernprozessor mit nur 1.4 GHz Basisfrequenz aber einem Turbo bis zu 2.3 GHz (bei ausreichender Kühlung). Integriert die Intel HD Graphics 3000 (jedoch nur mit 350 - 900 MHz Taktung) und einen DDR3-1333 Speicherkontroller.
2467M: Stromspar-Doppelkernprozessor mit nur 1.6 GHz Basisfrequenz aber einem Turbo bis zu 2.3 GHz (bei ausreichender Kühlung). Integriert die Intel HD Graphics 3000 (jedoch nur mit 350 - 1150 MHz Taktung) und einen DDR3-1333 Speicherkontroller.
Intel Core i3:
380UM: Der Core i3-380UM ist ein sehr sparsamer Ultra Low Voltage Prozessor ohne Turbo Boost und AES Funktionen (Unterschied zu den i5 und i7 UM CPUs). Dank Hyperthreading werden bis zu 4 Threads gleichzeitig bearbeitet. Im Package ist auch noch eine integrierte Grafikkarte (GMA HD mit 133-500 MHz) und ein Speichercontroller für DDR3 800.
2357M: Stromspar-Doppelkernprozessor mit nur 1.3 GHz Basisfrequenz und ohne Turbo Boost. Integriert die Intel HD Graphics 3000 (jedoch nur mit 350 - 950 MHz Taktung) und einen DDR3-1333 Speicherkontroller.
Intel Core i7:
2637M:
Stromspar-Doppelkernprozessor mit nur 1.7 GHz Basisfrequenz aber einem Turbo bis zu 2.8 GHz (bei ausreichender Kühlung). Integriert die Intel HD Graphics 3000 (jedoch nur mit 350 - 1200 MHz Taktung) und einen DDR3-1333 Speicherkontroller.
13.3: 13 Zoll ist ein häufiges, jedenfalls aber das grösste Displayformat für Subnotebooks. Der Vorteil von Subnotebooks liegt darin, dass das Notebook klein dimensioniert sein kann und daher leicht tragbar ist. Das verhältnismäßig kleine Display hat noch den Vorteil wenig Strom zu benötigen, was die Akkulaufzeit und damit die Mobilität weiter verbessert. Der Nachteil ist, dass das Lesen von Texten ein wenig anstrengend für die Augen ist. Sehr hohe Auflösungen sind nur bedingt nutzbar. Nicht fehlsichtige Menschen sollten mit dieser Displaygröße aber zurechtkommen können.

Dieses Subnotebook/Netbook/UMPC, sofern man es als solches überhaupt bezeichnen kann, gehört zu den leichtesten Notebooks überhaupt und kann klarerweise hervorragend getragen werden. Es gibt kaum Sub-Notebooks, aber ein paar Netbooks in dieser extremen Gewichtsklasse. 7-9 Zoll Displays passen in diesen Gewichtsbereich.
1.6 kg:
Diese Subnotebook/Netbook ist deutlich leichter als der Durchschnitt aller Notebooks, und stellen eine mittlere Gewichtsklasse unter den Subnotebooks dar. 11 Zoll Displays passen in diesen Gewichtsbereich.
81.8%: Diese Bewertung muss man eigentlich als durchschnittlich ansehen, denn es gibt etwa ebenso viele Notebooks mit besseren Beurteilungen wie Schlechteren. Die Verbalbeurteilungen klingen aber oft besser als sie wirklich sind, denn richtig gelästert wird über Notebooks eher selten. Obwohl dieser Bereich offiziell meist einem "Befriedigen" entspricht, passt oft eher "mäßiger Durchschnitt".
