The Toshiba Portege Z835 is arguably the best Ultrabook yet--and certainly the best option under $1,000. For $899, you get the lightest 13-inch laptop around, full-size ports, and an accurate touchpad. The nearly 7 hours of battery life is another big plus. However, the this notebook's stiff keyboard, dull 1366 x 768 screen, and slow-writing SSD can't beat the more-expensive MacBook Air. But if you can accept a few compromises, the Portege Z835 is a fantastic value for students, small business users, or anyone who needs a lightweight, nimble notebook with equal parts portability and style.

But if you can accept a few compromises, the Portege Z835 is a fantastic value for students, small business users, or anyone who needs a lightweight, nimble notebook with equal parts portability and style.

It's insanely light at 2.48 lbs. and very thin. In short, it's a real pleasure to carry. That diet has a drawback or two though: there's lots of lid flex and the notebook has a hollow feel to it when you press surfaces.

Its unique differentiator is that it feels like a traditional notebook that’s been miraculously slimmed down to almost tablet-thickness. The price was the only factor that put down a lot of people. At nearly 4.5k the Toshiba Portégé Z830 is a good AED 850 more expensive than the Acer Aspire S3. That said, it’s still AED 1,150 cheaper than its nearest rival, the unibody and equally slim MacBook Pro 13 which has the same specs inside. So for those who want a true ultrabook experience, the Toshiba Portégé Z830 is a definite buy, despite the slightly high price tag.

Neben zahlreichen Benchmarks, musste sich das günstige Ultrabook auch im Praxiseinsatz auf der CES 2012 behaupten.
Eine Woche CES. Nachdem wir bereits den ausführlichen Test der deutschen Core i5 Version im Dezember veröffentlicht haben, konnten wir nun dank Intel auch die kleinere Core i3 Version testen. Neben zahlreichen Benchmarks, musste sich das günstige Ultrabook auch im Praxiseinsatz auf der CES 2012 behaupten.

Photoorganisation, HD Video-Schnitt (Dank QuickSync) und massiver Browser-Einsatz erledigte das Ultrabook ohne Probleme. Auch Videos und kleinere Casual Games zwischendurch konnte die schwache CPU / GPU Kombination stemmen.

Despite some annoyances, I really enjoyed my time testing the Toshiba Portégé Z830. It is a good all-rounder, but so very slim and light, and it runs on batteries for the best part of a day. Surely these three features alone deserve to make it a great success. It’s not a style icon by any stretch of the imagination, but this Ultrabook looks businesslike in an understated way and genuinely feels like a quality piece of kit. It is jolly expensive, though.

Despite some annoyances, I really enjoyed my time testing the Toshiba Portégé Z830. It is a good all-rounder, but so very slim and light, and it runs on batteries for the best part of a day. Surely these three features alone deserve to make it a great success. It’s not a style icon by any stretch of the imagination, but this Ultrabook looks businesslike in an understated way and genuinely feels like a quality piece of kit. It is jolly expensive, though.

Das Toshiba Portégé Z830 ist meiner Meinung nach eine Enttäuschung. Das instabile Gehäuse & die schlechten Scharniere sollten bei einem Notebook in dieser Preisregion auf gar keinen Fall vorkommen, da können auch die durchaus großzügige Anschlussvielfalt und das matte Display diese “Fehler” nicht korrigieren.

Toshiba: Die Toshiba Corporation ist ein japanischer Misch- bzw Technologiekonzern. Die Firma entstand 1939 und 1978 wurde Toshiba offizieller Firmenname. Zu den Produkten und Dienstleistungen des Unternehmens gehören Energie, industrielle und soziale Infrastruktursysteme, Aufzüge und Rolltreppen, elektronische Komponenten, Halbleiter, Festplatten, Drucker, Batterien, Beleuchtung, Logistik und Informationstechnologie. Toshiba war einer der größten Hersteller von Personal Computern, Unterhaltungselektronik, Haushaltsgeräten und medizinischen Geräten.
Diese Karten können nur sehr alte und sehr anspruchslose 3D Spiele flüssig darstellen. Anwendungen wie Office, Internet surfen, Bildbearbeitung oder (SD) Videoschnitt sind jedoch ohne große Einschränkungen möglich.
Intel HD Graphics 3000: In Sandy Bridge Prozessoren (Core ix-2xxx) integrierte Grafikkarte von Intel. Stärkere GT2 genannte Version mit 12 Execution Units (EUs). Je nach Modell mit unterschiedlichen Taktraten (350-650MHz) und TurboBoost Unterstützung (900-1350MHz).
Intel HD Graphics (Sandy Bridge): In den Celeron und Pentium Sandy Bridge (2. Generation Core) integrierte Prozessorgrafik. Technisch eine Intel HD Graphics 2000 (in Desktop CPUs) mit geringeren Taktraten. Die namensgleiche HD Graphics der Arrandale Prozessoren ist nicht baugleich!
