Ehrlich gesagt nein, der Preisvergleich führt beinahe 60 Geräte auf, die in puncto Ausstattung ähnlich wie das XPS 13 ausfallen. Erschwerend hinzu kommt, dass technisch vergleichbare Geräte bereits zu Preisen ab etwa 900 Euro zu haben sind, Dell verlangt für das Testmodell jedoch knapp 1.200 Euro.

The curvaceous well-built design and spacious keyboard are still just as alluring as they were last year, and the upgraded specs and features reinvigorate the device to compete against even the most promising ultrabooks on the market. The Dell XPS 13 still isn’t perfect. The lack of connectivity (namely a SD card reader) may be discouraging for some (especially business users), but this small issue does little to mar the overall package. The boost in performance and added touch capabilities in conjunction with the laptops stellar design help make the XPS 13 a top-tier ultrabook.

The only downsides: I’m casting around for a wall socket more often than I’d like, and its dearth of slots and ports drag it down a wee bit. And if you give a lot of presentations, need hard-wired ethernet, or carry a lot of files, you’ll need to load up on dongles and a USB drive. But on the whole, it’s a terrific little machine.

Das Dell XPS 13-9333 ist ein leistungsorientiertes Ultrabook, das sich an anspruchsvollste Nutzer mit großem Budget richtet. Der Laptop hat eine elegantes Design mit klaren Linien und abgerundeten Kanten und sieht fast wie ein Schmuckstück aus. Das Profil ist super-schlank und das gesamte Gerät wiegt weniger als 1,36 kg, womit die Ultrabook-Klassifikation gerechtfertigt ist. Die Verarbeitung ist mit Maschinen geschnittenem Aluminium und einer Kohlefaser-Basis, die wegen der verringten Hitze-Abstrahlung einen Schoßeinsatz angenehm macht, beeindruckend.
Die Isolations-Tastatur in Vollgröße hat ein gutes taktiles Feedback und verfügt über ein Hintergrundlicht. Der 13,3 Zoll LED-Touchscreen nutzt die Trulife-Technologie und wird durch Corning Gorilla Glass NBT vor Kratzern geschützt. Die Hardware umfasst einen Intel Core i7-4510U Prozessor mit einer Turbotaktrate von bis zu 3.1 GHz der vierten Generation, 8 GB DDR3L RAM im Dual-Channel-Betrieb, eine Intel HD Graphics 4400 und eine 256 GB mSATA SSD.
Weitere Technologien sind ein Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC + Bluetooth 4.0, eine Breitbild-HD-Webcam, 2 USB-3.0-Ports und ein Mini-Displayport. Die Audio-Qualität ist mit durch Waves MaxxAudio-Technologie und Stereolautsprechern gut. Das Dell XPS 13-9333 wird mit einem Windows 8.1 64-bit Betriebssystem ausgeliefert, das vor allem das Touchscreen-Model zu einem kompakten Setup macht.

Das Ultrabook Konzept wurde von Intel auf der Computex 2011 vorgestellt. Diese neue Generation soll Intel Prozessoren mit niedriger Leistung nutzen, extrem schlank sein und auch bestimmte Tablet-Funktionen bieten. Es gibt eine große Auswahl verschiedenster Ultrabooks von zahlreichen Herstellern in der ersten Welle dieser ‘MacBook Air Killer’. Dell ging es anscheinend langsam an und brachte das erste Ultrabook im ersten Quartal 2012 auf den Markt. Während sich die meisten Hersteller dafür entschieden, ihre Ultrabooks unter neuen Namen und in vielen Modellen und Größen anzubieten, nutzt Dell die bereits Bekannte XPS Produktfamilie um ihr Ultrabook in nur einer einzigen Größe zu vermarkten.
Das Dell XPS 13 zieht sicherlich Blicke auf sich. Wie der größere Bruder, das Dell XPS 14Z, weist es einen geschwungenen, silbernen Alu-Körper mit im Vergleich zum Bildschirm reduzierter Gehäusegröße auf. Laut Dell wurde ein 13-Zoll Bildschirm in ein 11-Zoll Gehäuse gequetscht. Das entspricht nicht ganz den Tatsachen, kommt ihnen aber nahe, denn das Gehäuse ist definitiv kleiner als jenes anderer 13-Zoll Ultrabooks. Das XPS13 hat eine Kohlefaser Unterseite einer dünnen gummierten Schicht, sodass der Laptop beim Tippen nicht rutscht. Das Corning Gorilla Glass verleiht dem Bildschirm etwas größere Stabilität.
Dell bietet das XPS 13, ebenso wie Asus das Zenbook UX31, der Hauptkonkurrent, ab 999 € an. Die Bildschirmauflösung von 1366 x 768 Pixel ist allerdings deutlich niedriger als die 1600 x 900 Pixel Aufösung des UX31. Vorteile des XPS 13 gegenüber dem UX31 sind unter anderem die Tastaturbeleuchtung, die reaktionsschnelleren Tasten und die kleinere Größe.
Intel HD Graphics 4400: In den Haswell-Prozessoren (4. Generation Core) integrierte Grafikkarte in mittlerer Ausbaustufe (GT2). Je nach Prozessor unterschiedlich getaktet.
Einige nicht anspruchsvolle aktuelle Spiele können mit geringen Details noch flüssig gespielt werden. Für Office und Video natürlich ausreichende Leistungsreserven.
