The display is disappointing, even at its often discounted price, while the performance and battery life are easier to take for under $700. The OmniBook is fine for basic tasks like web browsing, but if that's all you need a laptop for, you may consider going even cheaper with one of the best laptops under $500! On the other end of the spectrum, if you're looking for a high-performance laptop for work or creative tasks, you will be much better off with the MacBook Air M4 or one of the best 16-inch laptops. As much as I want to like every laptop I review, there are simply too many drawbacks to recommend the HP OmniBook 5 Laptop AI for most users unless it is deeply discounted.

You are compromising on ports against key rivals, though. The Asus Zenbook A14 is a little richer in terms of ports, while also being even lighter and more stylish in its chassis, although battery life isn’t as strong. Likewise, the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus 7441 (2024) trades an OLED screen for more potency and a better port selection against HP’s choice.

HP: 1939 gegründet, ist das US-Unternehmen ein wichtiger Server und Druckerhersteller und eines der führenden IT-Unternehmen weltweit. Bis 2015 hieß das Unternehmen Hewlett-Packard Company. Nach einer Aufspaltung wurde der Computer-Bereich in HP Inc. umbenannt.
2023 hatte HP einen ungefähren Marktanteil von 22% am weltweiten PC-Absatz und war damit die Nummer 2 nach Lenovo.
Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
AMD Radeon 780M: Integrierte Grafikkarte in den Rembrandt Ryzen APUs basierend auf der RDNA 3 Architektur mit 12 CUs (= 768 Shader) und einer Taktrate von bis zu 3.000 MHz.
AMD Radeon 840M: Starke RDNA3+ basierende integrierte Grafikkarte (iGPU) mit 4 der 16 Compute Units (= 256 Unified Shader) und einer Taktung von bis zu 2,9 GHz (je nach Modell).
Intel Iris Xe G7 96EUs: Integrierte Grafikkarte (in Tiger-Lake G7 SoCs) der Gen. 12 Architektur mit 96 EUs.
Qualcomm Adreno X1-45 1.7 TFLOPS: Die Qualcomm Snapdragon X Adreno X1-45 ist die schwächste GPU in the Snapdragon X Plus SoCs mit nur 1,7 statt 3,8 TFLOPS an Leistung. Wahrscheinlich wird dies durch weniger Taktraten und / oder weniger Kerne erreicht.
Durch aktuell eingeschränkten Treibersupport und Spieleunterstüztung ist die 3D-Leistung und Kompabilität in Spielen jedoch nicht vergleichbar mit Nvidia und AMD iGPUs.
Intel Graphics 4-Core iGPU (Arrow Lake): Integrierte Grafikkarte basierend auf die Xe LPG Architektur (ähnlich zu den dedizierten Arc GPUs, jedoch mit Fokus auf Effizienz). Bietet 4 Xe Kerne (64 Xe Vector Engines) und 4 Raytracing Einheiten.

AMD Hawk Point (Zen 4/4c): Refresh of the Phoenix series with higher clocks on the AI engine. Includes Ryzen 8000 and Ryzen 200 parts.
R7 8840U: High-End-Mobil-8-Kern Prozessor mit 16 Threads. Taktet mit maximal 5,1 GHz auf einem Kern und kann dadurch in Single- und auch Multi-Thread-Anwendungen überzeugen. Nutzt die Zen 4 Architektur und hat einen konfigurierbaren TDP von 15-30 Watt. Technisch identisch zum Ryzen 7 7840U, jedoch mit höher getakteten Ryzen AI Engine und dadurch deutlich gesteigerter AI Leistung.
AMD Strix / Gorgon Point:
Ryzen AI 5 340: Eine relativ leistungsstarke Krackan Point Familie Prozessor, die Anfang 2025 vorgestellt wurde. Die APU integriert 6 CPU-Kernen (3x Zen 5-Kerne mit bis zu 4,8 GHz und 3x Zen 5c-Kerne mit bis zu 3,4 GHz).
Intel Raptor Lake-U:
Core 7 150U: Auf der Alder-Lake-Architektur basierender High-End-Mobilprozessor. Bietet 2 Performance-Kerne und 8 Effizienzkerne und kann 12 Threads gleichzeitig bearbeiten. Der maximale Turbo-Takt der P-Kerne beträgt 5,4 GHz. Weiters unterstützt der i5-1365U vPro-Essentials-Management-Features.
Qualcomm Snapdragon X:
SD X Plus X1P-42-100: Der Snapdragon X Plus 8-Kern X1P-42-100 ist der schwächste Einstiegsprozessor der X Serie mit nur 8 Oryon CPU Kernen die mit bis zu 3,4 GHz takten. Als Besonderheit bietet der SoC nur eine schwache 1.7 TFLPPS Adreno CPU, aber die selbe starke 45 TOPS NPU wie die stärkeren Modelle.
Intel Arrow Lake: Available Oct 24, 2024 with hybrid CPU cores and up to 4 graphics cores.
Ultra 7 255U: Auf der Meteor-Lake-Architektur basierender High-End Mobilprozessor. Bietet 2 Performance-Kerne mit bis zu 5,2 GHz (inkl SMT) und 8+2 Effizienzkerne mit bis zu 4,2 GHz und kann daher 14 Threads gleichzeitig bearbeiten. Ähnlich zum Core Ultra 5 155U jedoch wird der Compute-Tile im neuen Intel 3 Prozess gefertigt und bietet höher getaktete CPU-Kerne.

14.00:
14 Zoll Display-Grösse stellt ein Mittelding zwischen den kleinen Subnotebook-Formaten und den Bildschirmen der 15 Zoll-Standard-Laptops dar.
Der Grund der Beliebtheit mittelgrosser Displays ist, dass diese Größe einigermaßen augenschonend ist, gute Auflösungen mit brauchbaren Detailgrößen liefern und dennoch nicht allzu viel Strom verbraucht und die Geräte noch halbwegs kompakt sein können.
Früher waren 14 Zoll-Geräte sehr selten, jetzt stellen sie nach den 15-Zollern den Standard bei Laptops dar.
16.00: Dieser Bereich für Displayformate war und ist eine Seltenheit. Es ist größer als der allgemeine Standard von 15 Zoll, aber noch nicht im Bereich der großen Workstations. Man hat üblicherweise höhere Bildschirmauflösungen zur Verfügung, darunter leidet aber auch die Portabilität.
