Modell:

Die Huawei-P-Reihe, früher als Ascend-P-Reihe bekannt, ist eine Serie von hochwertigen Android-Smartphones von Huawei. Zunächst wurde die Reihe als Teil der größeren Ascend-Marke von Huawei vertrieben, später aber von ihr getrennt. Die Reise der P-Reihe begann mit dem Huawei Ascend P1 im Jahr 2012 und wird mit den angekündigten P40 und P40 Pro immer besser. Das Huawei P40 hat eine Rückseite aus Glas und stellt zwei Verarbeitungen zur Wahl: entweder glänzend in Ice White oder Black and Deep-Sea Blue, oder matt in den Farben Silver Frost oder Blush Gold. Der Unterschied zwischen den Verarbeitungen liegt wohl in dem bisschen Schutz vor Fingerabdrücken und Schmierflecken, den die matte Oberfläche bietet. Abgesehen davon ähnelt das Smartphone dem P40 Pro und dem P40 Pro Plus mit seinem Metall-Rahmen, randlosen Display und großen Kamera-Rechteck in der oberen rechten Ecke auf der Rückseite.

Für Wasser- und Staubschutz hat das P40 die schwächere IP53-Zertifizierung anstatt IP68 wie das P40 Pro und das P40 Pro Plus. Das bedeutet schlicht, dass das P40 weniger geschützt ist als die anderen Modelle. Das 6,1-Zoll-Display des P40 erinnert mit einer Auflösung von 1080 x 2340 Pixel und einer Bildwiederholrate von 60 Hz an das P30. Es ist nicht das beste in seiner Kategorie, das OnePlus 7T Pro bietet beispielsweise einen besseren Bildschirm. Ein wesentlicher Unterschied zwischen dem P40 und dem P30 betrifft den Prozessor. Das P30 hatte einen Kirin 980, das neue P40 bekam einen Kirin 990 Premium-Chipsatz, der dem Prozessor im Mate 30 Pro oder dem Mate XS nahe kommt. Das Kirin 990, gekoppelt mit 8 GB Arbeitsspeicher und 128/256 GB Speicherplatz, ist wahrscheinlich der einzige High-End-Chipsatz mit integriertem 5G. Allerdings gibt es auch eine einfache Version des Huawei P40 mit 6 GB Arbeitsspeicher. Der Prozessor basiert auf 7nm+-Technologie und kann definitiv mit den neuesten Flaggschiffen mithalten.

Das P40 ist mit einem 3.800-mAh-Akku ausgerüstet, der sogar bei mäßiger bis starker Nutzung einen vollen Tag halten dürfte. Auch 22,5W-Schnellladen wird unterstützt, dafür aber kein kabelloses Laden, was für manche Nutzer ein Nachteil sein könnte. Im Kamera-Bereich hat das P40 eine Ansammlung von Leica-Linsen, nämlich eine 50-MP-Hauptkamera, eine 16-MP-Ultraweitwinkel-Kamera und ein 8-MP-Teleobjektiv mit dreifachem optischen Zoom, genau wie das Galaxy S20 oder das Galaxy S20 Plus. Allerdings wurden bei diesem Smartphone Google-Dienstleistungen mit Huaweis AppGallery ersetzt, was manchen Nutzern wiederum nicht gefallen könnte.

Einige nicht anspruchsvolle aktuelle Spiele können mit geringen Details noch flüssig gespielt werden. Für Office und Video natürlich ausreichende Leistungsreserven.

Kirin 990 5G: ARM-basierter Octa-Core-SoC (2x Cortex-A76 mit bis zu 2,86 GHz + 2x A76 mit bis zu 2,36 + 4x A53 mit bis zu 1,95 GHz) und Nachfolger des Kirin 980. Integriert eine Mali-G76 MP16 GPU, einen Neural Prozessor (2 + 1 Cores) für AI-Aufgaben und wird im 7-Nanometer-Prozess gefertigt.
