Is the Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i better than the MacBook Pro? Tough question. The Lenovo has a faster screen with a touch interface, an Nvidia GPU that makes it better suited to gaming and, in my view, a superior keyboard. The Apple laptop counters with far longer battery life, better HDR performance (but that’s a MacOS vs Windows issue) and better connectivity. Like-for-like, the MacBook Pro is considerably more expensive. My review system has the Mini LED display, Core i9 CPU and RTX 4070 graphics, but I can’t find that exact model on sale in the UK. The otherwise identical RTX 4060 model is, however, readily available for £2,299, and since the performance drop-off between the RTX 4070 and RTX 4060 is not that dramatic, I’ve based my value-for-money conclusions on that. What can be said though is that the Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i 16 is one of the very best MacBook Pro rivals yet, topping the HP Omen Transcend 16 and Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra in terms of graphical and audio performance, even if it similarly falls foul in battery life.

The Intel Core Ultra 9 185H can maintain a 3.50 GHz / 2.90 GHz P and E core clock in long loads and the GPU can easily handle its maximum 100W power limit when performing demanding tasks like gaming or running graphics-intensive software. The build quality is top notch as well as the input devices. The 3.2K display (CSW1640 (LEN160-3.2K)) offers a 165Hz refresh rate and an outstanding 1245 nit max brightness in HDR mode and 622 nits in SDR content. You can rely on a very good 2540:1 contrast ratio and full DCI-P3 coverage. The only downside here is the PWM usage.

Lenovo:
Lenovo („Le“ vom englischen legend, novo (Latein) für neu) wurde 1984 als chinesische Computerhandelsfirma gegründet. Ab 2004 war die Firma der größte Laptop-Hersteller Chinas und nach der Übernahme der PC-Sparte von IBM im Jahr 2005 der viertgrößte weltweit. Neben Desktops und Notebooks stellt das Unternehmen Monitore, Beamer, Server etc her und hat sich auf die Entwicklung, Herstellung und Vermarktung von Unterhaltungselektronik, Personalcomputern, Software, Unternehmenslösungen und damit verbundenen Dienstleistungen spezialisiert.
Im Jahr 2016 belegte das Unternehmen weltweit den ersten Platz bei den Computerverkäufen. Auch 2023 hatte es ihn noch inne bei ca 23% Weltmarktanteil. Wichtige Produktreihen sind Thinkpad, Legion und Ideapad.
2011 wurde die Mehrheit der Medion AG übernommen, einem europäischen Computer-Hardware-Hersteller. 2014 wurde Motorola Mobility gekauft, wodurch Lenovo einen Schub am Smartphone-Markt erreichte.
Diese Grafikkarten sollten alle modernen Spiele flüssig darstellen können. Anspruchsvolle Spiele müssen jedoch in mittlerer Detailstufe gespielt werden. Ältere und weniger anspruchsvolle Spiele wie die Sims Serie können auch in hohen Detailsstufen flüssig dargestellt werden.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU: Mittelklasse-Notebookgrafikkarte basierend auf die Ada Lovelace Architektur. Bietet 6 GB GDDR6 VRAM und ca 35-115W TGP (+ Dynamic Boost). Vorstellung sollte im Januar 2023 erfolgen, Verkaufsstart dann im Februar.
High-End Grafikkarten welche auch neueste und anspruchsvolle 3D-Spiele in hohen Auflösungen und Detailstufen flüssig wiedergeben können. Durch den hohen Stromverbrauch, werden diese GPUs nur in großen und schweren Notebooks mit geringen Akkulaufzeiten angeboten.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop: Eine kommende Grafikkarte der Blackwell-Familie für Laptops, die Team Green sehr wahrscheinlich auf der CES 2025 vorstellen wird. Wenn man bedenkt, dass der 4070 Laptop über 4.608 Unified Shader (CUDA Kerne) verfügt, wird die 5070 höchstwahrscheinlich weit über 5.000 Shader haben.

i7-13705H: Auf der Alder-Lake-Architektur basierender High-End Mobilprozessor. Bietet 6 Performance-Kerne und 8 Effizienzkerne und kann 20 Threads gleichzeitig bearbeiten. Der maximale Turbo-Takt der P-Kerne beträgt 5 GHz (Single-Thread-Turbo). Ähnlich zum i7-13700H jedoch ohne vPro-Support und mit anderem Package und Socket.
i9-13905H: Auf der Alder-Lake-Architektur basierender High-End Mobilprozessor. Bietet 6 Performance-Kerne und 8 Effizienzkerne und kann 20 Threads gleichzeitig bearbeiten. Der maximale Turbo-Takt der P-Kerne beträgt 5,4 GHz (Single-Thread-Turbo). Im Unterschied zum ähnlichen i9-13900H ohne vPro Unterstützung und mit einem anderen Socket und Package.
Intel Meteor Lake-H:
Ultra 9 185H: Auf der Meteor-Lake-Architektur basierender High-End Mobilprozessor. Bietet 6 Performance-Kerne mit bis zu 5,1 GHz und 8+2 Effizienzkerne mit bis zu 3,8 GHz und kann 22 Threads gleichzeitig bearbeiten.
Intel Arrow Lake: Available Oct 24, 2024 with hybrid CPU cores and up to 4 graphics cores.
Ultra 9 285H: Auf der Arrow-Lake-Architektur basierender High-End Mobilprozessor mit 16 Kernen aufgeteilt in 3 Cluster. Die schnellen 6 P-Kerne takten mit bis zu 5,4 GHz. Weiters gibt es noch 8 kleinere E-Kerne mit bis zu 4,5 GHz und 2 kleine Low Power Kerne (selbe Architektur) mit bis zu 2,5 GHz. Integriert eine kleine NPU mit 13 TOPS Spitzenleistung und unterstützt vPro Enterprise.
