Das Arbeitstempo war im Test durchweg hoch, für Spiele eignet sich das Dell jedoch nicht – das gilt aber auch für die meisten anderen Convertibles, die ohnehin nicht fürs Zocken gemacht sind. Aber das XPS 12 leistete sich im Test einen dicken Patzer: Der Akku des Dell hielt beim Arbeiten nur zweieinhalb Stunden durch – der schlechteste Wert in diesem Vergleich.

By far, though, the most impressive part was the quality of the display and the stylus. To say that drawing and writing on the XPS 12 was a pleasure is a complete understatement. The tablet provided one of the best digital drawing experiences I've ever had with a consumer tablet; this could absolutely be a digital artist's main drawing tablet, and I can't imagine they'd find a single thing to complain about. If you frequently take handwritten notes, as well, you'll love the XPS 12.

The killer blow for the XPS 12, though, is the sheer quality of the competition. If you have anywhere between $1,300 and $2,000 to spend then there are many other devices more worthy of your cash. Given that you can pick up the Core m3-powered Surface Pro 4 with the Type Cover for $1,549, I fear the XPS 12 is dead in the water. Sorry, Dell, but this time it’s back to the drawing board.

Positive: Strict appearance; quality materials and high-quality assembly; fast storage subsystem based on the data format SSD M.2 2280 connects over SATA3; good silent cooling system; convenient input devices on the additional unit; excellent display. Negative: Short battery life; a small and very limited choice of configurations; high price for its class; limited connectivity.

Intel HD Graphics 515: Integrierte Grafikkarte (GT2), welche in einigen Core-m-CPUs (Skylake, 4,5 Watt TDP) verbaut wird.

Einige nicht anspruchsvolle aktuelle Spiele können mit geringen Details noch flüssig gespielt werden. Für Office und Video natürlich ausreichende Leistungsreserven.
