And you will want it docked because although the 13.3-inch touchscreen is viable, you must have a monitor to make full use of the X13's capabilities.

The configuration may be dead similar to the one used on the ThinkPad T14 Gen 1, but it looks like Lenovo used a better set of components to the ThinkPad X13 Gen 1.

EN→DE Archive.org versionMy biggest complaint about the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 1 is that the design feels a bit dated for a PC that I do consider premium, even if this configuration comes in at under a thousand dollars. I have no doubt that we'll see slimmer bezels on next year's model, which will be called Gen 2 under the new naming model, as Lenovo does tend to redesign all of these things at once. Honestly, the whole array of ThinkPads from this generation is mostly a spec bump, but that that's a bad thing.

The build and design might be the same, but the AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 4650U inside the laptop makes a huge difference and come closer in performance to a Core i7 10th Gen Intel CPU. The integrated graphics, meanwhile, are great for light gaming, and in combination, make the X13 a great multitasking machine.

EN→DE Archive.org versionWe really dig the Lenovo ThinkPad X13. Very often a notebook can do so much right, but there's a fatal flaw somewhere. Sometimes the cooling isn't up to snuff, or the design language is a little awkward. The ThinkPad X13 does away with all of that, and all we're really left with to complain about is a minor issue with ventilation placement while gaming. Snappy performance, aggressive pricing, excellent battery life, great portability, and solid expansions options add up to a laptop we could see using for years to come. Everyone who needs a great ultraportable should add the ThinkPad X13 to their short list. It is an excellent machine.

Das Lenovo ThinkPad X13 ist das neueste Gerät der Lenovo-ThinkPad-Familie. In Sachen Design gibt es beim X13 nichts Neues. Anstatt die Gelegenheit zu nutzen, um mit einem Laptop erster Generation das ThinkPad-Design umzugestalten, wählte Lenovo die gemütliche Lösung und verwendete die ThinkPad-X390-Form wieder. Das ThinkPad X13 sieht demnach fast genauso wie sein spiritueller Vorgänger aus, außer dass der Deckel mit Kohlefasern gestärkt und das Deck aus einer Magnesiumlegierung gefertigt wurde. Es wirkt robust und hat auch die traditionelle ThinkPad-Ausstaffierung: einen Kursor aus Gummi, getrennte Maustasten mit roten Akzenten, und ein erleuchtetes “i” im ThinkPad-Logo. Mit einem Fingerabdruck-Leser, einem 180-Grad-Scharnier und einer Webcam-Abdeckung ergibt das ein recht zweckmäßiges Design. Die Einfassung unter- und oberhalb des Bildschirms vergrößert allerdings die Fläche des Laptops und läßt es veraltet aussehen.
Doch egal, welches Material Lenovo verwendet, ein ThinkPad ist immer robust genug, um Tests auf Militärsniveau zu bestehen. Das Lenovo ThinkPad X13 bestand 12 MIL-STD-810G-Tests für unterschiedliche extreme Umstände, z.B. große Höhen, Minustemperaturen und Sandstürme. Darüber hinaus ist das ThinkPad mit einem Fingerabdruck-Leser und wahlweise mit einer IR-Kamera ausgerüstet, damit man sich mit Windows-Hello schnell anmelden kann. Die Kamera hat eine Abdeckung (ThinkShutter), was bei Business-Notebooks inzwischen Standard ist.
Für Konnektivität stehen auf der rechten Seite des ThinkPad X13 ein USB-3.2-Typ-A-Anschluss und eine Aussparung für ein Kensington-Schloss zur Verfügung. Auf der anderen Seiten befinden sich zwei USB-C-Anschlüsse, ein Ethernet-Anschluss, ein weiterer USB-3.2-Typ-A-Anschluss, eine HDMI-Schnittstelle, und eine Audiobuchse. Da es sich bei Thunderbolt 3 um Intel-Technologie handelt, fehlt es bei diesem AMD-Laptop. Das X13 hat ein gutes 13,3-Zoll-Display mit 1080p-Auflösung und einem matten Überzug. Auch die Tastatur lässt nichts zu wünschen übrig, das Feedback ist sehr angenehm. Unterhalb der Tastatur befindet sich das Touchpad, das recht klein ist, für Benutzer mit großen Händen könnte es also eine Herausforderung darstellen. Für Leistung sorgt beim X13 ein Ryzen 5 Pro 4650U mit 8 GB Arbeitsspeicher. Das “Pro” bedeutet einfach, dass der Chip speziell für Geschäftsnotebooks entworfen wurde. Außerdem steckt im ThinkPad X13 eine Radeon-Grafikkarte. Der Akku liefert eine Laufzeit von 7 Stunden und 53 Minuten, er erreicht also nicht den 10-Stunden-Durchschnitt, den man von Premium-Laptops kennt. Insgesamt könnte dies ein tolles Gerät für Kleinunternehmen sein, solange es ihren Anforderungen entspricht.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
