The Satellite W30t isn’t Toshiba's first detachable Windows 8 device. It enters the market where devices such as the HP EliteBook Revolve 810 and the Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 are already available. It's hard to recommend the W30t. If money is tight, buy another tablet and a good-quality keyboard – if not, spend a little more on a higher-quality machine like the Lenovo.

Companies have tried to solve the hybrid issue in many different ways, but few have nailed it – and Toshiba isn’t the first firm to fall short when it comes to crafting a device that’s just as effective in both tablet and laptop modes. The weight, width and thickness of the screen means that the Satellite is uncomfortable to use as a tablet for any length of time, and the system is top-heavy in laptop mode – and the Toshiba’s poor keyboard makes us loathe to use it as a system for serious work.

Hybrids occupy a strange space in the market between tablets and laptops, and the Toshiba suffers by having one foot in both camps – it's a competent machine, but its heavyset design and mediocrity in key departments makes it difficult to recommend, with dedicated laptops and tablets doing each job with more aplomb. If you need a hybrid, though, the Lenovo Yoga 11S is a better choice despite its slightly slower processor: it's slimmer and lighter, looks better, and has a slick folding mechanism – and that's not to mention the bright, high-contrast screen or the excellent keyboard.

Mit steigender Beliebtheit und Nachfrage nach Tablet-Laptop-Hybriden, will Toshiba mit dem Toshiba Satellite W30t-A-101 ganz oben mitkämpfen. Der Hybride ist mit einem Intel Core i3-4020Y Prozessor der vierten Generation ausgestattet und gehört damit zu den besten Tablets in puncto reiner Rechenleistung. Eine 500 GB Festplatte, die durch eine 256 GB SSD ersetzt werden kann, und 4 GB DDR3 RAM runden das Paket ab. Doch dem nicht genug: Für eine weitere Verbesserung der Grafik ist das Gerät ist mit einer integrierten Intel HD Graphics 4200 ausgestattet. Eines ist gewiss, anders als viele Hybriden, kommt dieses Tablet definitiv mit starker Last zurecht.

Das Gewicht ist jedoch eher klobig. Das Tablet misst 331,2 x 214,95 x 14 mm und wiegt mehr als einen Kilogramm. Damit ist es doppelt so groß wie herkömmliche Tablets. Positiv ist, dass es aufgrund seines größeren Formfaktors und Gewichts starker wirkt als andere Tablets. Obwohl das Tablet mit einer integrierten Grafik ausgestattet ist, schlägt Toshiba leider kein Kapital daraus. Der 13.3"-Bildschirm hat nur eine 1366 x 768 Auflösung und macht das Gerät durchschnittlich. Obwohl das IPS-Panel gute Farben und Bilder erzeugen kann,  lässt es in einigen Aspekten zu wünschen übrig.

Zusammenfassend ist das Toshiba Satellite W30t-A-101 definitiv ein Kraftpaket mit überdurchschnittlicher Spezifikation, ist jedoch klobig und schwer. Wenn Sie davon absehen können, kann Ihnen da Gerät gute Dienste leisten.

Intel HD Graphics 4200: In den Haswell-Prozessoren (4. Generation Core) integrierte Grafikkarte in mittlerer Ausbaustufe (GT2). Konzipiert für sehr sparsame ULV-Modelle.

Einige nicht anspruchsvolle aktuelle Spiele können mit geringen Details noch flüssig gespielt werden. Für Office und Video natürlich ausreichende Leistungsreserven.
