Ein kompaktes Pro-Flaggschiff hatte Xiaomi bisher noch nicht im Programm. Das Xiaomi 17 Pro bietet Fans kompakter Smartphones ein attraktives Gesamtpaket. Der 6.300mAh Akku bietet eine immense Laufzeit, der Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 stemmt wie erwartet jede Aufgabe und die Verarbeitung ist makellos. Das Kamerasetup ist in der Praxis super nutzbar. Gerade der Zoom war für Urlaubsfotos immer wieder Gold wert. Dazu kommt das Zweitdisplay für hervorragende Selfies. Einen schwerwiegenden Kritikpunkt gibt es beim Xiaomi 17 Pro leider bei Videos. Ansonsten zählen zu den kleineren Nachteilen das Thermal-Throttling und die Einschränkungen der China-Version. Auch das Display bietet nicht die Helligkeit anderer Flagships und der neue Snapdragon Prozessor liefert nicht mehr Leistung als der alte Top-Prozessor.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
