Das Sony Vaio Duo 11 wurde gemeinsam mit vielen anderen Touchscreen Laptops, die ein touch-orientiertes Betriebssystem von Microsoft nutzen, auf der IFA im Sommer 2012 vorgestellt. Sein Schiebemechanismus und die, dank high-end Hardware, starke Leistung, die mit den besten Ultrabooks am Markt vergleichbar ist, unterscheidet es von anderen kipp-, dreh- und dockbaren Geräten. Das heißt, dass am Vaio Duo 11 anders als auf der RT Oberfläche, die nur eingeschränkte Apps ausführen kann, jede PC-Software für die x86 Architektur läuft.

Weitere Vorteile des Duo 11 sind Schnittstellen in voller Größe, wie VGA, HDMI, Ethernet und USB, die Geschäftskunden unterwegs benötigen. Zudem gehört der helle und kontrastreiche FullHD-Bildschirm zu den besten seiner Art und das ausgezeichnete Gehäuse aus massiven Magnesiumteilen macht das Duo 11 sehr robust und dauerhaft.

Allerdings gibt es auch beim Duo 11 einige Kompromisse. Intels i5-Architektur braucht mehr Strom als die ARM-Architektur, sodass die Akkulaufzeit des Duo 11 kaum an die Ultrabook-Kriterien herankommt. Dank Schnittstellen und Tastatur in voller Größe ist das Vaio Duo 11 schwer und als eigenständiges Tablet schwierig zu benutzen. Wegen seines kleinen Formfaktors und dem Schiebemechanismus, schneidet das Duo 11 zudem in puncto Benutzerkomfort schlechter ab als übliche Ultrabooks.

Wegen dieser Nachteile ist das Vaio Duo 11 nicht für durchschnittliche Benutzer geeignet. Doch für Geschäftskunden, die starke Leistung und Komfort unterwegs wünschen, ist das Vaio Duo 11 einer der besten Kandidaten.

Alles in allem ist das Sony VAIO Duo ein gutes Convertible, das allerdings Verbesserungspotential an einigen Stellen bietet. Die Arbeitsgeschwindigkeit ist in Ordnung, durch den Intel Core i3 aber durchaus ausbaufähig. Das Display ist bis auf die starken Spiegelungen rundum gut gelungen. Es bietet eine sehr gute Helligkeit. In Kombination mit dem guten Schwarzwert erreicht es Kontraste, die satte Bilder garantieren.

Über Sonys kleines Slider-Notebook gibt es in der Summe vor allem Positives zu berichten, ganz ohne Kritikpunkte kommt die Tablet-Laptop-Kombi aber nicht davon. It is too large and bulky to be carried as a tablet, and the keyboard is not ergonomic enough to use over long duration. The performance is top-notch with the powerful components such as the fast CPU and SSD. The FullHD touchscreen IPS panel that takes full advantage of the Windows 8 UI is very responsive and also looks good. Multimedia performance is quite good with the decently loud and clear speakers. The generous number of ports makes it very suitable even for office use. Battery life may not be sufficient for some, so you might want to invest in a battery slice to double it up. Priced at Rs 90,000, this can be a speedy and cool-looking gizmo to show off to your friends for bragging rights, if you are willing to overlook the lack of ergonomics.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.

71.46%: Diese Bewertung ist schlecht. Die meisten Notebooks werden besser beurteilt. Als Kaufempfehlung darf man das nicht sehen.
