Der Intel Core i7-4610Y ist ein sparsamer Dual-Core-Prozessor auf Basis der Haswell-Architektur, der für den Einsatz in sehr dünnen Ultrabooks und Tablets vorgesehen ist. Dank Hyperthreading können die 2 Kerne gleichzeitig bis zu 4 Threads bearbeiten. Die in 22 Nanometer gefertigte CPU taktet mit 1,7 GHz, kann per Turbo Boost aber Frequenzen von bis zu 2,9 GHz erreichen.

Architektur

Haswell ist der Nachfolger der 2012 vorgestellten Ivy-Bridge-Architektur und soll vor allem mit höherer Performance und verbesserter Energieeffizienz punkten. So wurde sowohl die Sprungvorhersage optimiert als auch die Zahl der Ausführungseinheiten erhöht, wodurch die Pro-MHz-Leistung um knapp 10 Prozent gesteigert werden konnte. Neue Befehlssatzerweiterungen wie AVX2 und FMA sollen die Performance in darauf ausgelegten Anwendungen zusätzlich verbessern. Eine Besonderheit der ULV-Versionen ist die Integration des Chipsatzes auf das CPU-Package, um dadurch Leistungsaufnahme und Platzbedarf zu senken.

Performance

Die Performance des Core i7-4610Y liegt entsprechend der gesteigerten Pro-MHz-Leistung etwas oberhalb eines ähnlich taktenden Ivy-Bridge-Prozessors. Durch die niedrige TDP kann der zur Verfügung stehende Turbo-Boost-Spielraum nur über eine kurze Zeitspanne (bzw. nur bei Auslastung eines Kernes) voll ausgeschöpft werden. Je nach Benchmark ordnet sich der 4610Y in etwa zwischen einem Core i3-2330M und einem Core i7-4500U ein. Damit stehen für Office- und Multimedia-Zwecke, aber auch die meisten Anwendungen ausreichende Leistungsreserven zur Verfügung.

Grafikeinheit

Für die Grafikausgabe zeigt sich die im Prozessor integrierte Intel HD Graphics 4200 mit 20 EUs verantwortlich, die mit 200 - 850 MHz taktet. Diese verspricht ein leichtes Performanceplus gegenüber der HD Graphics 4000 (bei gleicher Taktrate), fällt aber deutlich gegenüber der HD Graphics 4400 einiger anderer ULV-Modelle mit höherer Taktrate und TDP zurück.

Leistungsaufnahme

Gegenüber dem Vorgänger ist die maximale Leistungsaufnahme der Haswell-Y-Serie auf 11,5 Watt TDP (6 Watt SDP) zurückgegangen, außerdem entfällt die zusätzliche Leistungsaufnahme des nunmehr bereits integrierten Chipsatzes. Damit ist die CPU für noch schlankere Ultrabooks und Tablets geeignet.

Der Intel Core i7-4702MQ ist ein Quad-Core Prozessor auf Basis der Haswell-Architektur, der im zweiten Quartal 2013 vorgestellt wurde. Dank Hyperthreading können die 4 Kerne gleichzeitig bis zu 8 Threads bearbeiten. Die in 22 Nanometer gefertigte CPU taktet mit 2,2 GHz, kann per Turbo Boost aber Frequenzen von bis zu 3,2 GHz erreichen (4 Kerne: 2,9 GHz, 2 Kerne: 3,1 GHz). Als Besonderheit gegenüber anderen Quad-Core-Modellen ist der i7-4702MQ mit lediglich 37 Watt TDP spezifiziert.

Für die Grafikausgabe zeigt sich die im Prozessor integrierte Intel HD Graphics 4600 verantwortlich, die mit 400 - 1150 MHz taktet. Diese verspricht ein Performanceplus von rund 30 Prozent gegenüber der HD Graphics 4000, was die HD 4600 näher an die Grafikeinheit der schnellsten Trinity-APUs von AMD heranbringt.

Gegenüber dem Vorgänger Core i7-3632QM ist die maximale Leistungsaufnahme leicht auf 37 Watt (TDP) angestiegen, was auf die Integration der Spannungsregler in die CPU zurückzuführen ist. Damit ist die CPU für Notebooks ab etwa 13 bis 14 Zoll geeignet.

Intel Core i7-4860HQ

Der Intel Core i7-4860HQ ist ein High-End Quad-Core Prozessor auf Basis der Haswell-Architektur, der im ersten Quartal 2014 vorgestellt wurde. Dank Hyperthreading können die 4 Kerne gleichzeitig bis zu 8 Threads bearbeiten. Die in 22 Nanometer gefertigte CPU taktet mit 2,4 GHz, kann per Turbo Boost aber Frequenzen von bis zu 3,6 GHz erreichen (4 Kerne: 3,4 GHz, 2 Kerne: 3,5 GHz). Die Turbo-Frequenzen wurden bislang jedoch noch nicht bestätigt. Eine Besonderheit ist die schnelle integrierte GT3e-Grafikeinheit mit eigenem eDRAM-Speicher (128 MB, 77 mm², on-Package, 102 GB/s).

Die Taktanhebung um 100 MHz gegenüber dem Core i7-4850HQ dürfte sich in einer minimalen Leistungssteigerung von rund 3 Prozent niederschlagen. Damit erreicht der 4860HQ in etwa den älteren i7-3840QM (Ivy Bridge). Auch extrem anspruchsvolle Anwendungen und Multitasking werden problemlos bewältigt.

Grafikeinheit

Für die Grafikausgabe zeigt sich die im Prozessor integrierte Iris Pro Graphics 5200 mit 40 Execution Units verantwortlich, die mit 200 - 1200 MHz taktet. Die Iris Pro verspricht durch den schnellen eDRAM-Cache ein deutliches Performanceplus gegenüber der HD Graphics 4600 anderer Haswell-CPUs und kann sich sogar mit einer dedizierten GeForce GT 740M messen.

Leistungsaufnahme

Die TDP von 47 Watt schließt neben den CPU-Kernen auch die Grafikeinheit, die Northbridge inklusive Speichercontroller sowie Teile der Spannungswandler ein. Damit ist die CPU lediglich für große Notebooks ab 15 Zoll geeignet.
