Chromebook Flaggschiff. Das teuerste derzeit verfügbare Chromebook ist schnell und vor allem vielseitig – solange man daran denk,t einen USB-C-Adapter mitzubringen.

Overall, its keyboard oddities and Android software weirdness fall into insignificance next to great performance, awesome battery life and a thin and light build. This is a truly desirable laptop.

Still, the $999+ price tag is hard to get past, especially for a platform which continues to demand such compromises. What the Google Pixelbook does, however, is leave me actively wanting to be able to make the switch: the hardware, design, and performance are all so beguiling. It might not be the notebook for me today, but it means I’ll be watching Chrome OS even more closely to make that jump when the feature delta finally closes.

Only if you’re a diehard Chrome OS fan and want the very best Chromebook available. The Pixelbook has much to recommend it, but also suffers annoying problems, and more work is needed to make Assistant and the Pixelbook Pen truly useful.

It’s easy to fall in love with the Pixelbook’s sleek hardware, but the combination of a high price and faltering software means that the competition bests it on both laptop and tablet fronts.

80% Google Pixelbook review: the big Chromebook comeback
Quelle: It Pro Englisch EN→DE
Google's Pixelbook delivers on the promise of ChromeOS - a speedy, lightweight laptop with all of the intelligence and functionality that we've come to expect from Google. It may be expensive compared to most other Chromebooks, but it makes up for it with a slick design and some very clever features.

Google Pixelbook review: Android and Google Assistant transform the Chromebook
Quelle: Good Gear Guide Englisch EN→DE
Truth be told, the Pixelbook probably has more power than most Chromebook users will ever need. It gets a high rating not because I think everyone should buy it. Frankly it’s unaffordable for most people, and hard for many to justify compared to a full-fledged Windows or Mac PC. Instead, the Pixelbook earns its rating because it succeeds in showing the best a Chromebook can be.

85% Google Pixelbook review: A premium Chromebook that's worth the price
Quelle: Engadget Englisch EN→DE
Chrome OS has matured to the point where it is a legitimate option for many consumers, and the Pixelbook represents the best hardware to run it on. Mediocre battery life is a disappointment, but the Pixelbook's hardware is otherwise as good as it gets. Unless you absolutely need a Mac or Windows PC, the Pixelbook is worth its high price.

Google’s Pixelbook supports Android apps, Google Assistant, and pen input, making it a leader in Chromebook capabilities. Whether anyone will follow is the great unknown, but it's probably the best chance Chromebooks have to get out of their rut.

As someone who used to primarily work from an iPad, about halfway through the Pixelbook review process, it occurred to me: The Pixelbook is more of a computer than the iPad Pro is. Yes, Apple has many more apps, and better quality apps at that, than Chrome OS right now.

Ultimately, Google made Pixelbook to flex its design and hardware muscle. And it's succeeded. But it hasn't succeeded in making a Chromebook that's truly worth a grand. Not yet, anyway.

Even if you are a Google devotee, it's worth considering alternatives, even those that aren't a single convertible device. You could get a very good clamshell Chromebook like the Acer Chromebook 14$297.41 at Amazon and an excellent Android tablet like the Huawei MediaPad M3$289.00 at Amazon. All your Android apps would run fine on the latter and you'd have a bigger screen for getting work done on the former. You'd save about $500 over the Pixelbook in the process. And we guarantee that the 0.7-pound MediaPad M3 will be more comfortable to hold for long periods while reading or gaming than the 2.4-pound Chromebook Pixel.

Google Pixelbook review: Finally
Quelle: Android Central Englisch EN→DE
It's an amazing device and lives up to all the hype that has surrounded it since we first heard of it. And there are people who will buy it, but not because it's something anyone needs. It's that thing that you want. It was built for people like me, who have changed their digital life to be all-in with Chrome and really want the shiny beautiful thing. If you're also that person, you'll love the Pixelbook as much as I do.

Google Pixelbook hands-on review: the big Chromebook comeback
Quelle: It Pro Englisch EN→DE
The Google Pixelbook is one of the most instantly attractive laptops we've ever had the pleasure of using, Chromebook or not. It's thin, light and gorgeous to look at, with some clever software tricks to boot. Were it running Windows, we'd have no hesitation recommending it wholeheartedly.

Google Pixelbook: Is It Good for Business?
Quelle: Business News Daily Englisch EN→DE
If you've never used a Chromebook, you should be aware they have some limitations. While you will be able to access the full Google Play store on the Pixelbook (Snapchat is even making a desktop version of its app for the Chrome OS store), you won't be able to download any desktop software you might be accustomed to using. That's because Chromebooks are primarily meant to be used online. But because the operating system is constantly being updated, it's better protected from viruses than many PCs.

The Pixelbook is an interesting beast. Featuring top-end hardware that matches powerhouse Windows 10 hybrids, alongside a pleasing, design, it could be a great choice for convertible buyers looking for a laptop that can double as a tablet, not the other way round.

It also feels *far* less cumbersome than Microsoft's Surface Book -- an important comparison even if the Book's discrete graphics options can put it in a different weight class. Other touches, like a magnet that holds the Pixelbook in tablet mode, and the ability to charge it with either of its USB-C ports seem pretty convenient.

The Google Pixelbook is certainly the most impressive Chromebook we've ever seen. It's great to look at, feels excellent in use and its 360-degree hinge adds flexibility to its potential use cases. The inclusion of Google Assistant to Chrome OS is a fun new feature for contextual interaction.
