Schön, nach so langer Zeit mal wieder ein Nokia Smartphone testen zu können, auch wenn es kein waschechtes ist. Das Comeback in die Spitzenklasse ist dabei durchaus gelungen, denn das Nokia 8 kann mit den etablierten Herstellern mithalten und ist zudem signifikant günstiger. Besser ist es aber wiederum auch nicht.

Das Nokia 8 ist ein solides Spitzensmartphone, wie man es von Nokia gewöhnt ist. Es sieht gut aus und hat einen großen, jedoch fest verbauten Akku, welcher dank Quick Charge Technologie aber schnell wieder am Start ist. Der Klang des Gerätes ist gut und auch die Kamera-App hat viele Funktionen zu bieten, die jedoch eher etwas für Social-Media-Süchtige sind.

Versteht mich nicht falsch, es ist ein sehr solides Smartphone und hat auch einige Stärken. Zum Beispiel die Performance, oder auch die Benutzeroberfläche. Hier kommt ein reines Android zum Einsatz und Nokia ist bei den Updates schnell. Nach Google ist das die „reinste“ Android-Oberfläche und nach Google ist Nokia derzeit der Hersteller mit den schnellsten Sicherheitsupdates.

Rundum gemischte Gefühle… Ich erinnere mich an meine Tage mit meinem Nokia 3210. Es wurde mir gestohlen, doch es war mir eine Freunde solch ein Modell zu besitzen. Danach kam die WAP-Ära und ich erlebte buntere Nokia-Geräte wie das 6610 oder das 7210 usw. Doch die Zeiten haben sich geändert. Die Konkurrenz hat Nokia fast aus den Markt gedrängt und nun versuchen der Hersteller mit anderen Modellen zurückzukehren.

Das Nokia 8 kann als früher Versuch des Herstellers, ein Flagship-Gerät zu liefern, erachtet werden. Es kann als Flagship bezeichnet werden, doch verglichen mit Spitzengeräten wie dem Apple iPhone 8 oder sogar dem Samsung Galaxy S8 ist es nicht so erstklassig, sondern geht eher nur in diese Richtung.

Man erhält nichts Einzigartiges – möglicherweise abgesehen von dem Features, dass man beim Aufnehmen von Selfies die Kameras an Front- und Rückseite gleichzeitig verwenden kann. Weil man sich hinter der rückwärtigen Kamera befindet? Ich weiß nicht, wie nützlich dieses Merkmal sein kann, doch sicherlich wird es Fans dafür geben. Das Gerät verfügt über einen 5,3-Zoll-Bildschirm mit einer Auflösung von 2.560 x 1.440 Pixeln, 4 GB RAM und einen 3.090-mAh-Akku. Leider nichts Interessantes. Das Gerät ist IP54-zertifiziert, also nur spritzwassergeschützt.

Laut Gerüchten sind die Nokia 9 und Nokia 10 Modelle bereits auf dem Weg. Daher meine ich, dass das Nokia 8 eine Vorbereitung auf ein größeres / besseres Flagship war. Auf mich wirkt das Nokia 8 daher fast unfertig. Bei den Kameras wird beispielsweise damit geworben, dass Nokia mit Zeiss, einem bekannten Linsen-Hersteller, zusammengearbeitet hat. Das Ergebnis? Etwas, was man in jedem Flagship-Smartphone antrifft. Daher bin ich mir über dieses Gerät unschlüssig. Sollte ich ihm einen Versuch geben? Oder sollte ich mich einfach von ihm abwenden?

Bei Markteinführung kostete das Gerät zirka 700 US-Dollar. Nun ist der Preis auf zirka 550 US-Dollar gefallen. Könnte es mit dem neuen Preis eine Option sein? Ich sage vielleicht, denn meiner Meinung nach spielt das Nokia 8 verglichen mit der Konkurrenz nicht in der obersten Liga, sondern vielleicht in der Unterliga der Flaghip-Phones, wo die Konkurrenz sehr stark ist. In diesem Segment zählt, was man liefert und wie billig man dies liefert und, um ehrlich zu sein, das Nokia hinkt hier etwas hinterher. Vielleicht ist es besser auf das Nokia 9 und 10 zu warten und zu schauen, ob Nokia aus der Erfahrung mit dem Nokia 8 gelernt hat.

Mit dem iPhone 8 und dem Samsung Galaxy Note 8 am Horizont versucht Nokia nach einer langen Pause ein Comeback im Flaggschiff-Segment. Was hat Nokia verglichen mit seinen Konkurrenten zu bieten? Das Nokia 8 wird durch einen Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 mit 4 GB RAM und 64 GB internen Speicher angetrieben, was offen gesagt nicht so beeindruckend ist, denn die meisten anderen Flaggschiff-Modelle haben eine ähnliche Spezifikation. Doch das soll nicht enttäuschen. Ein bemerkenswertes Merkmal des Nokias verglichen mit seinen Geschwistern ist sein QHD-IPS-Display, der für seine Auflösung ungewöhnlich klein ist, jedoch scharf und lebendig. Nokia behauptet, dass der Bildschirm eine Helligkeit von bis zu 700 cd/m² erreichen kann. Das ist ziemlich hell, kann jedoch nicht mit den umwerfenden 1000 cd/m² des AMOLED Display im Galaxy 8 verglichen werden. Helligkeit ist zwar wichtig, doch man sollte beachten, dass die Augen bei langer Verwendung von ungeeigneten Einstellungen leiden können. Nokia hat sich für ein unverfälschtes Android 7.1.1 Nougat entschieden. Das ist ein Vorteil, denn die meisten Hersteller scheinen viel Merkmale in ihre Flaggschiff-Modelle quetschen zu wollen. Wie man sagt, ist einfach immer am besten und so erhält der Hersteller Ehre, wo Ehre gebührt.

Obwohl das Nokia 8 als Flaggschiff-Smartphone angepriesen wird, sollten User nicht enttäuscht sein, dass das Nokia standardmäßig nur 64 GB Speicher bietet. Zwar hat Apple Angebote mit 128 oder sogar 256 GB, doch das Nokia 8 ermöglicht eine Speichererweiterung mit MicroSD-Karte. Die verbaute Kamera besteht im Nokia 8 aus einem Dual-Kamera-Setup, was zur übliche Anforderung an die meisten Flagships wird. Es besteht aus einem normalen 13 MP RGB-Sensor und einem zusätzlichen 13 MP Monochrom-Sensor, was ein viel knackigeres Bild ermöglicht. Ein einzigartiges Merkmal des Nokia 8 nennt sich „Bothie“-Funktion, die gleichzeitige Nutzung der Kameras an Vorder- und Rückseite ermöglicht. Auch wenn Samsung und andere Hersteller solche Features vor einigen Jahren hatten, kommen diese nicht an das Nokia 8 heran, denn das Nokia kann dabei in 4K aufnehmen, was für das Gerät fordernd sein kann. Ein weiters Highlight in Zusammenhang mit der Kamera ist das Nokia OZO Raum-Feature, welches es dem Nutzer ermöglicht vor Aufnahme eines Videos den Sound scharf zu stellen. Das kann in Situationen wie einem Konzert oder sogar einem Interview ideal sein. In puncto Akkulaufzeit schneidet das Nokia 8 mit einer Akkukapazität von 3090 mAh etwas überdurchschnittlich ab. Bei normaler Verwendung sollte das Gerät einen ganzen Tag durchhalten. Sollte der User die Kapazität unzureichend finden, so unterstützt das Nokia 8 Qualcomms QuickCharge 3.0. Ein endgültiges Fazit über das Nokia 8 bleibt abzuwarten. Wenn Nokia einen einst verlorenen Markt zurückgewinnen möchte, müssen sie wirklich innovativ sein, denn der Android-Markt ist überlaufen und die Konkurrenz ist mit mehr Alternativen aus China stark.
