Die Samsung ATIV Book 9 Series umfasst hochwertige Ultrabooks. Sie wurde 2013 als Nachfolger der Samsung Series 9 Laptops herausgebracht. Die Modelle sind mit bis zu einem Intel Core i7 Prozessor und 8 GB DDR3 RAM ausgestattet. Abhängig vom Modell wird entweder die integrierte Intel HD Graphics oder eine von AMDs neuesten Grafikkarten genutzt. Zudem stehen verschiedene SSD-Größen zur Auswahl. Die Laptops verfügen entweder über einen 13,3 Zoll großen Touchscreen mit einer Auflösung von 1.920 x 1.080 Pixeln oder sogar über einen hellen und kontrastreichen Quad-HD-Bildschirm. Die Samsung ATIV Book 9 Series Modelle gehörten zu den ersten Ultrabooks, die Microsoft Windows 8 Touchfunktionalität von Beginn an unterstützten. Allerdings kann optional auch ein Non-Touch-Bildschirm gewählt werden.
Bei der Samsung ATIV Book 9 Series ist entweder Microsoft Windows 8 Professional 64 bit oder Windows 10 vorinstalliert. Daher ist nach Kauf keine Installation notwendig. Mit einem Gewicht ab 1,17 kg gehören die Samsung ATIV Book 9 Series Modelle zu den leichtesten Laptops ihrer Zeit. Zudem sind sie mit nur 1,27 cm ziemlich schlank. Kabellose Kommunikation ist via WiFi und Bluetooth möglich. In puncto Schnittstellen bietet es zwei USB-3.0-Ports, einen Mini-DisplayPort und einen SD-Kartenleser.

It's £100 cheaper, a bit lighter and is identical in every other way.

The blurry, poor-resolution screen, the plastic lid, the poor benchmark scores, and the own-brand chip all make for sorry reading. Some of these negatives are simply down to cost-cutting measures, and it's important to remember that this Samsung model exists for those on a budget. But you only have to look as far as the Asus Zenbook S200 or the VivoBook S400 for an altogether more impressive low-cost machine.

Das jüngste Modell der Samsung Ativ Book 9 Produktlinie, das Samsung 940X3G-K01DE soll ein Spitzen-Ultrabook sein. Der Fokus liegt auf hochwertigem Design, Qualitätsmaterialien und hoher Leistung, sodass es seinem Preis entspricht. Das schlanke Metallgehäuse ist metallisch grau. Ein Handballenablage aus Kunststoff macht stundenlange Nutzung komfortabel. Die Tastatur hat eine Hintergrundbeleuchtung, aber das Touchpad muss ohne Buttons auskommen. Im Inneren befinden sich ein energieeffizienter Haswell Intel Core i5-4200U Prozessor mit einer Taktrate von 1,6 Ghz, die mit Hilfe von Turbo Boost auf bis zu 2,6 GHz erhöht werden kann. In Kombination mit 4 GB RAM und einer 128 GB SSD sind die Bootzeit kurz und die Leistung bei den meisten mäßig intensiven Aufgaben und Multitasking, wie erwartet, flott. Da eine Intel HD 4400 für Grafik verantwortlich ist, handelt es sich nicht um ein Gerät für ernsthafte Gamer. Wenig anspruchsvolle Spiele sollten jedoch gut laufen.
Das Samsung 940X3G-K01DE bietet einige beeindruckende Spezifikationen im 13,3 Zoll Touchscreen. Samsung war mit Full HD nicht zufrieden und optierte für einen QHD Bildschirm mit einer Auflösung von 3200x1800. Das kann den Versuch einen externen Monitor anzusteuern verkomplizieren. Der glänzende Multi-Touch Bildschirm, ein Fingerabdruckmagnet, und Windows 8 OS sind eine gute Kombination. Das Gewicht von 1,387 kg ist leicht und der 55 Wh Akku hält knapp 8 Stunden mäßiger Last durch und sorgt für eine ausgezeichnete Portabilität. Ausgezeichnete Akkulaufzeit und die Leistung machen das Samsung zu einem ausgezeichneten portablen Arbeitsgerät. Allerdings könnten die Minimierung der Schnittstellen, um Platz zu sparen, und der QHD Bildschirm für einige die Nutzung erschweren.

Samsung Ativ Book 9 Lite
Das Samsung Ativ Book 9 Lite ist ein preisgünstiges Ultrabook, das auf der Samsung Ativ Book 9 Serie hochwertiger, superschlanker Geräte basiert. Um Geld zu sparen, ist das Gehäuse aus Kunststoff statt aus hochwertigen Metallen und es nutzt einen AMD Prozessor statt den neuesten Intel Kernen. Genaugenommen kann man daher nicht von einem Ultrabook sprechen, denn diese Bezeichnung gehört Intel. Der Nutzer wird sofort bemerken, wie sich das Gerät anfühlt. Es sieht schlank genug aus, doch es kann sein Kunststoff-Styling, mit welchem es wie ein Billig-Laptop wirkt, nicht verleugnen. Das Tastatur-Layout ist für eine 13-Zoll Maschine gut und mit der Tastatur lässt es sich relativ angenehm arbeiten. Die 1366 x 768 Pixel Auflösung des Bildschirms ist gut genug und der Touchscreen arbeitet ausreichend gut. Farben und Bildgebung sind nicht besonders gut, was bei einem Budget-Gerät zu erwarten war.
Der AMD Quad Core Prozessor mit 1.0 GHz ist für die meisten leichten Aufgaben schnell genug, doch Multitasking und anspruchsvollere Aufgaben lassen zu wünschen übrig. Diesbezüglich gibt es sicher besser Alternativen am Markt. Die Akkulaufzeit ist enttäuschend und wahrscheinlich der zweit wichtigste Nachteil, der sich daraus ergibt, dass kein stromsparender Intel-Prozessor an Bord ist. Während die meisten ähnlichen Geräte 8 Stunden erreichen, schafft dieses Gerät nur 5 Stunden. Würde das Samsung noch weniger als sein aktueller "Billig"-Preis kosten, könnte es ein gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis haben. So wie es aber ist, sind bessere Optionen verfügbar.

Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus
Samsung geht zu den Ultrabook-Pionieren und ist aus gutem Grund eine große Macht in diesem Bereich - sie stellen ausgezeichnete Ultrabooks her. Das Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus ist dunkel und glatt mit abgerundeten Ecken. Der schlanke Körper mit einer Bauhöhe von nur 1,35 cm sieht beeindruckend aus. Doch nicht nur das Gehäuse des Ultrabooks ist schön, sein 13.3-Zoll-Bildschirm hat eine erstaunliche Auflösung von 3200 x 1800 Pixeln, die die HD-Bildschirme anderer Geräte blass aussehen lässt. Der hochauflösende Bildschirm hat atemberaubende Farben, überdurchschnittliche Blickwinkel und ein sehr gutes Antwortverhalten bei Touch-Eingaben.
Das Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus wird durch einen Intel Core i5-Prozessor mit einer Taktrate von 1,6 GHz und 4 GB RAM angetrieben. Zudem ist es mit einer 128 GB SSD ausgestattet. Daher ist Leistung kein Problem.
Ob seiner Schlankheit bietet das Samsung 2 USB-Ports, einen Mini-VGA-Port, einen Micro-HDMI-Port sowie die übliche Kopfhörer/Mikrophon-Buchse. Es unterstützt kabellose Verbindungen in Form von Wifi 802.11 b/g/n und Bluetooth 4.0, aber ein Ethernet-Port für Kabel-Verbindungen fehlt.
Insgesamt gehörte Samsung schon immer zu den besten Ultrabook-Herstellern und das Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus ist sicherlich eines der besseren Produkte. Der einzige Nachteil ist sein hoher Preis. Wenn der User das schlucken kann, ist der Laptop eine ausgezeichnete Wahl.

You don't buy an Ultrabook for hardcore gaming - you buy an Alienware 17 or PlayStation Vita Slim. And as far as the screen goes, well, that's more of a Windows 8.1 flaw than any fault of the Ativ Book 9 Plus. That said, this isn't quite the MacBook-beater we were hoping for. It still feels a little underpowered given its high price, and if you're after a Windows 8.1-running Ultrabook, we'd go for the Asus Zenbook UX302 instead. Still, lovely screen.

While I was sad to see that the Samsung Ativ Book 9 2014 Edition didn't offer the same higher-than-HD screen seen on the previous Book 9 Plus, it was one of the only disappointments in an otherwise premium ultraportable. The slim design and sturdy aluminum build is just as impressive as ever, and the larger 15.6-inch display offers more screen real estate in roughly the same package, not to mention the all-day battery life, a healthy port selection, and improvements to the keyboard and sound quality. The price is nice too--the Samsung is currently one of the least expensive in this premium powerhouse laptop tier.

Everything (save the power cord) looks and feels - and runs - great. Now if only Samsung could bring as strong a game to the software they employ as they do the hardware they manufacture.

We had no trouble deciding to give the Samsung ATIV Book 9 Pro four stars on our five-star rating scale. It's relatively trim for a 15.6-inch laptop, squeezing under the four-and-a-half-pound line. Its display and keyboard are both above average, and its sound well above average. Except for some screen wobble, it's solidly built.

Intel HD Graphics 5300: Integrierte Grafikkarte (GT2), welche in einigen Core-M-CPUs (Broadwell, 4,5 Watt TDP) verbaut wird.
Diese Karten können nur sehr alte und sehr anspruchslose 3D Spiele flüssig darstellen. Anwendungen wie Office, Internet surfen, Bildbearbeitung oder (SD) Videoschnitt sind jedoch ohne große Einschränkungen möglich.
AMD Radeon HD 8250: Integrierte Grafikeinheit der AMD A6-1450 APU ("Temash"). Basiert auf der GCN-Architektur, integriert 128 Shadereinheiten und taktet mit 300 - 400 MHz.
Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
Intel HD Graphics 520: Integrierte Grafikkarte (GT2), welche in einigen Skylake-CPUs (ULV-Modelle, 15 Watt TDP) verbaut wird.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M: Schnelle Mittelklasse-Grafikkarte der GeForce-GTX-900M-Baureihe. Basiert auf dem Maxwell-Chip GM107.
